We had a lovley stay for just one night at the hotel and wished it had been for longer but we will be back one day. The front desk staff are amazing - so friendly, welcoming and informative. Our room was on the first floor overlooking the square with access to a small balcony - a beautiful room. The hotel obviously appreciate that there may be noise from outside but do provide guests with ear plugs which is a nice touch. We chose to have breakfast in the hotel and this was really nice with all that you would expect in a French hotel. One minor negative is about the machine to boil the eggs - a regular 5 minute egg isn't cooked at all which is a shame to waste food - perhaps a sign to indicate cooking for a little longer or turn up the water temp. A minor point but only because food was being wasted. The hotel is ideally situated to wander the city from either the old city, the shops or the many restaurants in the area. There is also a small bar in the hotel where you can sit and enjoy a drink or take it to your room if you wish. If you are staying in Caen I would definately recommend this hotel - yes for the location, parking opposite, quality of room and breakfast but above all for the front desk staff and I am sorry I didn't catch their names; gentleman on checking in and out, a young lady in the early evening and a young chap at night who kindly booked us a taxi for the next day.

Schönes Hotel mit geräumigem, stilvoll eingerichtetem Zimmer und Blick auf die Place de la République. Ausgezeichnete Lage. Sehr freundliches Personal. Gutes Preis-Leistungsverhältnis.

Driving to the hotel by means of Google Maps is a nightmare as G/Maps produces very strange route results lately. It takes you to the point across the plaza opposite the hotel from where it suggests you take a walk. The problem is compounded by the road repairs of Rue de Strasbourg preventing you from entering Place de la Republique. But as I was told by the hotel staff in view of this repairs cars are allowed to circumnavigate the Place via the pedestrian-only lanes. So you can drive the perimeter of Place de la Republique strait to the hotel's door, park your car in front of it to unload your luggage, and then park in the underground garage in front of the hotel.
The hotel is very good. The location is excellent. The front desk staff are great, very helpful and amicable. The room was of good size with all amenities, clean, quiet and sound proof. The only problem was the a/c didn't work well although i'ts possible it wasn't on due to the off season.

Comfortable bed albeit a little too wide. Perfect location in Caen. Nice breakfast.
