The location, the pool and garden, the breakfast and breakfast room, the mini bar at the pool. The people were very friendly. The views. It was spot on, not too fancy but all the things you wanted right were perfect. There was plenty of room to store paddle boards in the garden without having to keep putting them away
The garden is given over to parking, whilst convenient and offering lots of parking it can be a bit irritating when you jave cycle groups departing before the crack of dawn and multiple van doors slamming shut first thing or someone turning up in a Maserati!

Les chambres sont spacieuses, pas des plus modernes mais propre, la literie confortable.

Hotel du Lac is located in Talloires, which in my opinion is the nicest little town by Annecy Lake. The hotel is clearly one of the more dated ones, but kept in a charming and local style. It’s located in the center of the town with a short walking distance down to the lake, the bus, the town’s stores etc. Additionally, the rooms are cleaned daily.
The hotel has a lovely little pool where you can spend your day and look out on the absolutely impeccable views.
Hotel du lac offers breakfast only for 16 euros per person (as at August 2026), which is great value for money. There is a good selection of cold cuts, cheese, bread, baked goods, eggs, bacon etc.

We had issues with the WiFi a number of times, so if your very reliant on this for calls or whatever, it’s probably worth keeping in mind.
Additionally, there is no aircondition, and it can get quite warm during the day/night. We had a fan in our room which wasn’t the best, but found that if we opened the doors we could sleep okay. The hotel is obviously not cut for these extreme warm temperatures.
Not necessarily criticism, but rather wishful thinking, it’s a shame that with the great breakfast that they don’t do lunch at the property (although they do serve small sandwiches by their bar - which we didn’t try).

Het hotel is gedateerd, kamers/badkamers hebben een opknapbeurt nodig. Zodra we gingen douchen werd de hele vloer van de badkamer drijfnat omdat het scherm in het hoekje lekte waardoor er een straaltje water langs de douche liep.
Excellent location with a very short walk to the beach, the ferry and cafes and restaurants. A lovely pool and garden area with plenty of seating and shade. Staff were welcoming and helpful.
During the very hot weather our room on the top floor became uncomfortably hot. Fans helped a little but wouldn’t recommend staying on the top floor in the heat of the summer.
