Renovation of the pool area will be carried out from 07/10/25 to up two weeks. In this period the facility will be close. During this time, and as an alternative, guests will be able to access the swimming pools of Hotel Alto Lido and Hotel Baía Azul, subject to availability. Please note that advance booking is required for both: pool access and the shuttle service.Please inform of your expected arrival time in advance. You can use the Special Requests box when booking, or contact the property directly using the contact details in your confirmation.

Pool, Strand und Frühstück
The best thing about Hotel Orca Praia (Funchal) is its location and the great sea views. However, I would never stay in that hotel again. We had an incident with our luggage and the direction/management did not care at all. The luck of empathy was astonishing.
We had an incident during our stay at Hotel Orca Praia (Funchal). At arrival to the hotel, we left our luggage in the luggage storage room next to the reception. When we returned to the hotel, to access our room, my partner’s luggage had been taken by mistake by another guest who left to travel to the south of Germany. As a result of this, my partner spent 7 days (the entire holiday) without his clothes and belongings. The hotel did not acknowledge any wrong doing on their part, despite the lack of system to identify luggage at the storage room and to securely handle the luggage to their owners. My partner had to buy some clothes with our own money. The hotel director was dismissive in email communications. He showed an extremely poor customer service and lack of empathy. We did not receive an apology from their side except from one member of the reception staff.
I had never had such terrible treatment as a customer. I do not think this is appropriate for a public establishment, let alone a 4-star hotel. I would never stay here again!
Der Aufenthalt war super. Es gab kaum etwas zu beanstanden. Alle waren freundlich, es war sauber und alles schien gut organisiert.
Ich fand, dass das Angebot des Billiard-Tisches mit 5€ pro Stunde für Hotelgäste etwas hoch ist. Außerdem kann ich mir vorstellen, dass der Weg von Etage-10 bis zur Poolbar grade für ältere Gäste sehr beschwerlich ist.

L'accueil est super ! La vue est juste fabuleuse et vraiment un gros plus pour l'accès à la plage.
Les chambres sont spacieuses mais un peu austères...

Room was lovely and the view was stunning and the sound of the sea magical. The staff were lovely and very helpful. It was my birthday while i was there and they sent up a complimentary bottle of wine which was a lovely surprise. A lovely romantic setting . Adults only which was great.There was a bus spot right outside the hotel with brought you into funchal which was very convenient
The fridge in the room could have been better as it was in a press which it shouldn't have been as it was over heating so drinks weren't that cold at times found keeping door of unit opened helped but do think better fridge is need so you can put your own drinks in.. the breakfast was ok but never overly hot. And the pastries were always over cooked. Room service menu not great either.. we only eat in evening once and didn't like the food myself and my husband ordered two different beef dishes but the both came out the same

Everything was perfect
It îs a wonderfuk adults only hotel facing the ocean and extremely clean. Staff were wonderful from the moment we stepped in.

There should be warning on this hotel that you need 6 approx 110 steps and steep slope to get to the pool, beach and prom. Nice pool and plenty of sun beds.
Rooms are clean and a decent size. Large bed but far too hard, had to sleep on top of duvet. TV too small to see from bed.
No dressing table stool or small table.
Rubbish hairdryer Had, a strong coiled up lead may be ok if you are left handed and stand right up to the wall.
Breakfast same each day and 40 euros if you want the evening buffet which seemed expensive compared with other places.
No atmosphere to bar more like cafe needs breaking up into areas with plants etc, no stage, basic entertainment.
Good if you book free mini bus into Funchal runs 4 times a day or you can get bus for 2 euros.
Lovely fishing village approx 30 minute walk. Has lovely restaurants. We went a few times. Or approx 1 hour to walk to edge of Funchal.
