Booked a great value 3 night stay in a twin sea view room BB, £245 for 2 people.
Breakfast was excellent and so much choice. They have a fantastic offer on for evening meals in the restaurant, buy one get one free as well.
Dinners were excellent.
Also a loyalty card for spending in the bar for drinks and food.
Non residents welcome in the bar and restaurant.
Travelled here on a coach holiday for the New Year. Slight hiatus on arrival over room booking but staff quickly solved it and the rest of the stay can only be described as excellent. Food and service here are well above 3 star level. Tables laid with linen cloths and napkins, choice of starters mains and deserts, excellent buffet breakfast. Spotlessly clean rooms with excellent house keeping. New year festivities were great, comical entertainer, haggis piped in and addressed in full scottish style. So good we have already rebooked with the coach company for December 2026. Hotel conveniently placed on a bus route into town, though if your mob ile its an easy walk as well. Not far fron Railway station and under a mile to centre of town.
We attended a Christmas party night with South Devon Accommodation Group friends last night.
The private function room with separate bar and loos was perfect for our gathering. Great DJ too.
The food was a good standard, served hot and each table served at the same time so no waiting for others to be served.
The staff were excellent and really accommodating, even coping with a food ordering mix up.
Highly recommended and I think it would be difficult to find a venue better suited for a private function.
Thank you 🙏
Hotel is in a beautiful location if you have sea view. Some rooms open to a communal balcony.
Unfortunately the rooms are dated, bed was uncomfortable, carpet was tired (and stained)as was the bathroom. We had I tally been given a family room, we declined to use it, it was cold, uninviting, the wardrobe was dirty.
The receptionist helped and moved us to a double room straight away.
We went to the sister hotel in search of the pool and a drink. This hotel was equally as tied, the pool was closed, which after viewing it was a blessing.
This could be a great hotel with a bit of time and effort.
However not one I feel I would revisit
Shame we were looking forward to the family break together.
Had the sunday lunch , a lovely traditional hotel restaurant with first class service
£29pp for 3 courses, food beatifully presented and cooked
Staff were so atentive
Would highly l recommend
Had a amazing stay.went from Friday to Sunday staff very friendly
Food excellent
Had breakfast including help yourself you could have cooked or cold option sea view room single amazing view
Very clean
Would highly recommend
Just home from celebrating our golden wedding anniversary at the livermead cliff Hotel we booked the afternoon tea with prosseco I must say everything was lovely. We had a good selection of sandwiches all beautifully fresh, cakes and 2 scones each with plenty of jam and cream tea and coffee and even some strawberries dipped in chocolate and coconut for myself and Jeff the whole experience was wonderful we would definitely recommend. Thankyou Livermead for making our day x
We booked the suite in August for one week and it was amazing. Room was little tired but bed so comfortable and view to die for. The bathroom - where do I start - like stepping back in time -so beautiful. Staff could not do enough. The sink in our room blocked and they asked us to change room. Offered 2 others but negotiated not using the sink and they were fine with us staying there. We were on honeymoon with our dogs and just cannot recommend this enough. Huge thank you to staff for making this so special.
We had Sunday lunch here yesterday. We have eaten in every hotel in Torquay and this was by far the best Sunday lunch we have ever had! It was tasty, plentiful and beautifully presented. Staff efficient and polite. It was a perfect experience!
A bizarre experience all around. Half of the staff made a good pass at it - the people in the bar and the housekeeping staff. But most of the others seemed unable to comprehend what it is to be in the hospitality industry.
Many of those we encountered were surly or grumpy in the extreme. Day after day the breakfasts were pretty inedible.
Food was cold, coffee was lukewarm at best.
At prices like these it's a pretty poor show chaps . . . Needless to say, we won't be back.
A good value hotel, good breakfast, and nice sea views.
Very disappointed, After booking a room with walk in shower, and stating my husbands mobility and dementia was very poor and we would be using a wheelchair. The wheelchair would not fit into the lift with the foot plates on. we needed assistance to use the lift.the receptionist had to run to the second floor to open the lift door as it was not possible to open the lift door with a spring loaded inner cage door plus push a wheelchair.
we were then showed to our room where the receptionist opened our room door and promptly announced the wheelchair is not going to fit in here.
left stood in the corridor while he went downstairs to find another room.was not ideal after a long journey. two rooms later we finally found a room we could just about get into.
Steep ramps to the front door and also to the dining room.
the food however when we did get into the restaurant was excellent.
the breakfast was a good choice
bar staff very helpful and pleasant and the views of the bay exceptional.
But i would not class this as a wheelchair friendly Hotel.
Loved the terrace. But overall the hotel was dated, tired, and plain shabby in places, particulary the carpets
Nice hotel over looking the sea staff are friendly hotel nice and clean nice location easy to work to where you want to go would definitely recommend
Such a beautiful location but hotel itself is rather dated. Reception & bar service were both very slow. Our room, 56, is in need of a deep clean, as is the dining and bar area. Also, overnight we could lots of noise from reception area.
Location, location, location! Spot on!
Well done to the friendly staff a true reflection of the management style.
Supporting a family owned local hotel seems much more rewarding than a big chain hotel where the heart of service can be lost.
Thank you for a pleasant stay and the Bank Holiday Torquay fireworks display was a spectacular bonus.
Customer service is off the scale excellent as Charles and Anthony have taught their staff well in going the extra mile to make the guest happy - very rare today and great to see and experience at the Livermead
Unfortunately this was probably the worst hotel ive stayed in.
As a mum of a toddler who is 2 i can say the hotel isnt child friendly and its actually not clean or pleasant to stay at.
Its smells, and there are flies in reception.
The lift is old and not suitable for any pram or wheelchair, its hard to use and small. Its an old iron pull door one and tbh may aswell not be there. The staff watched me struggle to use this which didnt help.
The room i was given was old run down and the carpet was full of hair so i had to be asked to move rooms.
They are very basic, old windows and again not child friendly as the corners on the desk and bedside tables are very pointed. Just very run down.
The corridors were dirty and looked like they need a good hoover.
The breakfast was okay, thank goodness for the cereal and toast as the cooked breakfast was not up to much because you can taste that its all cheap.
I also didn’t appreciate paying £450 for the stay then asked to pay for parking. Id expect for that price to be included.
I dont usually give such a bad/honest review but i found the staff unwilling to help and one gentleman was extremely uppity, he acts like the hotel is the ritz!
I did send a email out of respect to try to sort a resolution but they haven’t even responded. Which i find rude.
Bed was comfy
Stayed for 2 nights for a family wedding. Can’t fault the service at all, plenty of staff who were efficient, very friendly and worked seamlessly to ensure excellent service. The service at the wedding was also brilliant, all meals were delivered at the same time and the food delicious and plentiful. The room was clean and nicely decorated and furnished; no aircon but there was a fan and we had 2 windows looking over the sea and towards the town. There is an old fashioned lift which is quite small and the bathroom was rather ‘bijou’ but neither of these things can be changed so it is what it is. There is a large lounge and terrace with wonderful views.
