Quirky and comfortable, basic but good value for money. Location was perfect, near everything
Great value for an oldschool holiday hotel. Amazing drawing room with unique museum-style collections of artefacts and memorabilia. Staff went over and above for me when I accidentally left my laptop in the bar. Next evening they confirmed the night porter had found it and kept it safe, till I fetched it. I left a gift for the staff, but still felt guilty it wasn’t enough, as I’d have been very upset if I’d lost all the photos on it.
Was very hot in my room, and with no aircon, I couldn’t defeat the heatwave we were having.
The staff were very attentive and efficient in resolving—or attempting to resolve—the issues that arose, such as problems with the shower or TV. Gary, in particular, helped us open our suitcase when the lock got stuck.
We had a few issues, such as the shower not working properly, but it was resolved. The only thing that didn't work was the TV; there were problems with the channel connections.

Breakfast not available at 7.30am but was available at 7.50am. Nobody on reception to deal with issues besides the sane person that dealt with complaint at breakfast. Bed was not level it was lower on pillow side and higher on foot side. Really our of date room now. Furniture showing sign of wear

Excellent English breakfast. The rooms are spacious and well-ventilated. Just a couple of minutes walk down to the beach.
Clean to a reasonable standard ( bedding etc) but dust on most surfaces and under beds tables. Bathroom really outdated with window facing other room so not really private.
Housekeeping came in with key while we were in the room so gave us a big scare too.

Eigentlich nicht viel ausser die Lage paar min zum Strand zu Fuss und pasr Minuten in ein Lokalviertel Christchurch Street
Das so ein Hotel noch bestehen kann ist für mich als Österreicher ein Wunder - schmuddelige alte Teppiche im Haus (ca 70er Jahre) alte Einrichtung die heruntergekommen ist das Personal oberflächlich und unfreundlich - weiters KEINE Klimaanlage im Zimmer (es war dampfig und stickig im Zimmer) alles alt und schäbig - in Österreich wäre dieses Hotel schon lange weggerissen worden - verstehe das nicht dass man das nicht renoviert oder ein bisschen Geld reinsteckt - da ist der Hollywood flair gleich dahin ( sollte anscheinend vermittelt werden

We arrived at 245pm and had to wait till 3pm to check in.
