Wide choice and high standard of food. Very helpful staff. car parking facilities within hotel grounds.
Nothing comes to mind.
Returned after a lapse of a few years. Pleased to find that the standard of maintenance, service and dining was just as high as we remembered. Super - helpful and friendly staff added a personal touch and nothing was too much trouble.
We enjoy the nice, traditional ambiance and quality of furnishings and fittings. Does attract the older generation - which includes us - so might not appeal so much to younger families.
Beautiful property and lovely staff
Having visited over many years the family of BREND Hotels it is the VICTORIA in Sidmouth which is our favourite. We have just enjoyed a three night Winter Warmer stop over and stayed in a delightful standard room 315. We have over the years visited all the family owned BREND HOTELS but the Victoria is very special and is our favourite. The hotel is advertised as a Luxurious 4 Star Hotel on the Devon Coast, and we can’t understand why ONLY 4 Stars? We are not sure what could possibly be missing, and as a TA critic I honestly can’t find a reason?
If you are looking for a luxury hotel in Sidmouth with beautiful sea views and excellent Spa facilities, all very tastefully appointed throughout with delightful hospitality, service and cuisine to savour; the Victoria should undoubtedly satisfy your every need. I would offer a maxim to describe the hotel by simply saying ‘Hospitality such as this is often sought, but only very rarely found’. We can recommend this delightful hotel without any reservations.
Cannot recommend the hotel too highly, felt cared for from beginning to end, welcomed by ass manager and then the manager wished us well on leaving .
Excellent service across the board, will be back again soon
Ample parking, great reception. Able to use the facilities even though the room was not ready. Could store bags if needed. Beautiful room with sea views, fresh flowers and fruit. Spotlessly clean! Food and staff excellent. Evening music was a lovely bonus, although we didnt know many of the songs it was fun. Breakfast beautiful. Position, perfect very short walk to the town and beach.
Location , cleanliness and spa
Some of the staff a bit off( not reception )
This hotel offers old fashioned charm and excellent service. It’s location is ideal for exploring Sidmouth.
We very much enjoyed our 3 night break and will be back. The meal package is good value, the menu was varied but traditionally English. The hotel functions very well, the staff are courteous and competent, the maitre'd recognised us after our first meal. It is an older crowd - at least during the week when we were there but very pleasant.
The Hotel is beautifully situated on the coast and an easy walk into the centre of Sidmouth. The rooms & facilities are excellent, the staff welcoming & efficient, and food and excellent.
The Victoria Hotel never falters in the service offered to guests, We have been staying at the Victoria Hotel for over 25 years and the standard remain high. A friendly, professional service with a smile on the faces of all who work there.
We will continue to return on regular visits.
Excellent breakfast with plenty of choice. Pretty seaside location, already well known to me.
Excellent as usual Cannot fault the service and attention to detail.
This was our second visit and we hope to return again soon
A wonderful traditional hotel in a magnificent location overlooking Sidmouth bay. We enjoyed excellent wine and cuisine. The spa facilities were enjoyable.
Superb food. Luxury room. Beautiful spa. Friendly staff. The list just goes on.
One little hiccup on our 2nd visit to the white room for dinner.
We booked it at reception before we went out in the morning, but somehow our booking didn't get passed to the restaurant manager ( the young man working on the 20th Feb)
Even though there was plenty of room, the young man commented on the fact that we weren't booked in. This made us feel a little unwelcome and uncomfortable even though we did follow the booking procedure.
Had a full 5 course dinner in the jubilee restaurant.Food was first class The staff served with a smile and the quarted played background music to add to the atmosphere A first class experience
well! I wrote an honest review of my experience at this hotel, after which I was contacted by management offering me a free stay - so as I am an honourable person, I deleted the negative review, in light of a total lack of communication since I took down the honest review, I have decided to reinstate it!
I saved up for two nights at this hotel and went with a friend. It was awful! no one contacted me before the stay so say that there was noisy work going on in the room next door - think angle grinders at 8.30am! I need peace and quiet. We had to go out in the rain to get away from the noise. If we had been told beforehand, we would have changed our dates. The stay was totally ruined - and the 2 days stay had cost around £800!!
I was offered a free stay to compensate once they saw my review - however, I emailed the manager who sent the email with a query - and two weeks later, I have had NO response whatsoever. I do think that as I had taken down the trip advisor review, that’s all that mattered to them. I am devastated that my longed for, and saved up for, quiet two days away was totally ruined.
I shall never stay at this hotel again. There were other things that could be done differently but I do think we should have been advised that our room was going to be so noisy. The next door bathroom was being ripped out - using lump hammers and angle grinders from the beginning of our stay and was still going on when we checked out. I went home for a rest!
