We arrived at Ramada Cheltenham and immediately had to leave because the room was in an awful, unhygienic state. There were spider webs on the ceiling, nails sticking out of the walls, and the room was dirty and smelly. It felt unsafe and clearly not cleaned or maintained properly.
We asked for a refund straight away as it was impossible to stay in such conditions, but the reception staff were rude, unhelpful, and unfriendly. Despite not staying in the room at all, they refused to refund us.
This was some of the worst customer service I’ve experienced. Completely unacceptable standards for a hotel. I would not recommend staying here at all.
Nothing to recommend this hotel JUST DONT
Totally dysfunctional very disappointed Latest reviews all accurate will never consider stay here again
To say the hotel was a disappointment would be understating how sad and depressing it was. The hotel in reality bears no relation to the hotel information on booking.com or on the Ramada website.
There is no dinner or room service, there are no robes or bottled water in the rooms, there is not a concierge or 24/7 front desk and there is no room service.
The room I stayed in was showing lack on maintenance and attention to detail (stained carpet, marked walls, curtain hanging off hooks, toilet roll holder broken, bath plug knob marked and stained)
When I finally managing to find someone in the evening to get times of breakfast (no one around) it supposedly is served at 7am. Well at 7am there was no hot food - this arrived buffet style sometime later apparently cooked by the maintenance man; no greeting, no asking what you might like off the menu displayed in the bedrooms (and not all the options on the menu on the buffer). One of the least inspiring breakfasts I think I have ever seen.
The rooms are very outdated and stains on the walls. Grubby carpets which could easily have been cleaned using a good quality carpet cleaner.head boards are scratched so should have been replaced. Furniture needs to be brighter. Everything is to dark it needs colour and more natural lighting. Lamp is not plugged in and could not find where to plug it in. Plug in heater that doesn’t seem to work. Thank goodness it is not to cold. Staff do not know what they are doing. Ramada hotels are meant to be top class hotels but not this one. Hopefully the breakfast is better. Would we stay here again No, No, No . It needs to be taken over by different people who understand the value of customers and services.
Accommodation was fine. What was not was the parking fines I received for parking during my stay. $100 pounds for each day I stayed. These were automatically deducted by AVIS. I provided my hire care registration on check in. I have checked my credit card and these have been deducted. I wonder how many times this is done. Save yoursalf the trouble of trying to get your money back and find alternative accommodation.
Upon arrival the drab exterior was unwelcoming and immediately puts you on your guard for whats to come. The car par at the front is not bad but the rear car park was awful with rubbish strewn about and uneven surfacing. The reception was unmanned and a sign stating call a number. The receptionist was friendly enough and after a short booking in period we were given our key to our ground floor room. The room was adequate - double bed 4 pillows, tea and coffee making facility. Colour TV. 2 armchairs. En-suite bathroom with shower over the bath. Shower soap was provided. Shower was surprisingly good. My only criticism of the room was the entry door as you had to slam this to close it properly. Other guests seem to have had a similar problem owing to the slamming noise nighttime and morning. The bar and restaurant are located on the ground floor. We asked for a negroni listed on the bar menu only to be informed that they did not have any compari. Drinks are charged to resident guests with a 20% discount. Breakfast was buffet style (breakfast is included in the room rate). The re was plenty of it and it was of reasonable quality and offerings were replenished fairly regularly. The hotel is under staffed and it was not surprising that they were not as friendly owing to excessive workload. Really the hotel is just about 3 star.
.
The rooms were in poor condition, stains on the walls, no USB ports to charge your phones and actually keys to the rooms, it definitely needs updating
Great stay, friendly staff, clean and comfortable room . Only let down breakfast was luke warm.
The whole experience was spoiled by a parking fine. There were no signs of warning. There was no sigma in at reception. We wandered through to the restaurant and had to ask staff if we could have breakfast.
They did not mention parking charge. Breakfast was buffet style with cold fried eggs and bacon.
Customer Service was the worst. And the food not much better. The fine just about tops the lot.
Well done Ramada!
Mostly a satisfactory experience. Visited with friends for an event in Cheltenham at the University of Gloucester campus. Staff were friendly and helpful. The room was spacious, comfortable bed large telly. Bathroom was a problem as overhead shower was impossible to regulate for temperature. No grab rail no safety mat. Probably ok for a bath but not for elderly who could easily get stuck or slip.
We had an excellent dinner on one evening .Food was delicious . However , the waiter was coping on his own also running the bar.
Nice Hotel.
The room we had was exactly what we paid for king size bed and well presented £80
a night what a bargain. The food in the hotel was really good and well priced.
We were welcomed by Sara who went out of her way to look after us and ensure we were happy and we were . There are 2 local pubs within 6 minutes of the hotel that offered real ales and award winning food . A great location and highly recommended.
I need to warn you now straight away about a SCAM being run by this hotel. You park ouside in good faith. Because the staff are so busy they cursorily sign you in. Then a few days later you get a CIVIL PARKING ENFORCEMENT demand for £100 stating that you parked illegally EVEN THOUGH YOU ARE A PAYING GUEST OF THE HOTEL AND PARKED IN A DESIGNATED GUEST PARKING SPACE. The demand comes with menaces of legal threats if you don't pay.
The curb appeal isn’t great as you pull into the car park but once you walk through the doors, the hotel is pleasant.
Check in was easy and the room was spacious and clean, though again a little bit dated.
The bathroom had a very loud extractor/buzz that continued through the night even with all lights off. It was quietened by keeping the bathroom door closed but still noticeable.
I showered at 6.15am and had warm water, but when my husband got in the shower around 6.30-6.35 there was no hot water in the shower or the sink. Not great!!!
We didn’t eat at the hotel so unable to offer a review of the food and drink.
Check out was also very simple.
They can provide better accommodation for the value we’re paying
First impressions upon arriving poor. Untidy externally, slates missing from roofs. Reception not manned. Lift not working. Air conditioning not working. Room itself ok BUT, no hot water in the morning at 5.50am in basin or shower. First time EVER. I have stayed in a hotel with no hot water. Would I stay again; no.
We had a beautiful one night stay at this hotel. Check-in was easy. Staff were lovely. Our room was upgraded for free which was amazing. Room was clean. Breakfast buffet was ok.
Cheap and cheerful
Large room
Free parking and WiFi
Good breakfast choice but not very hot
Friendly staff
Tired and needs updating
Mattress and duvet well past use
Clean but very old fixtures in bathroom
Air con not working in 4 rooms
Cleannesses issue overall
Good parking and internet
Staff is helpfull and breakfast is basic
No room ready when we arrived around 7 pm (no second pair of the towels).
Smelly bathroom, very dirty pair of the chairs. Curtains dirty.
If the room would be cleaned properly it would be nice experience.
Very poor hygiene cleaning standards, however coming in across of the UK.
I would not recommend this hotel at all
