Huge 4-room apartment
Pros:

Stayed in 4-room apartment which was a separate house along the same terrace block as the main hotel. We were all amazed at how huge it was, with high ceilings, many beds which were very cozy and nice, a large kitchen with facilities like dishwasher, washing machine, electric airer. The place was warm and heaters worked well. The apartment was in a central location, walking distance from Waverley train station, near supermarkets, cafes (go to Kuna by the corner of London Road, very nice pastries and cakes) and other amenities. Staff were pleasant and efficient.

Cons:

The drainage in the toilets was not very good, and some of the shower stalls were prone to flooding. We had to improvise with chopsticks to raise one of the drainage plugs so the water would drain better. Decor was a little dated and contributed to it feeling rather 'dusty', but the place was pretty old so that may explain. TV was not a smart TV so no access to internet/Netflix. Kitchen could have done with more bowls.

Pros:

The location was good as it was close to all the attractions and the shopping mall as well as places we wanted to go so that was great and the room itself was cosy for 2 people

Cons:

The only thing that comes to mind was when I had the card to service the room I was expecting the bed sheets and all to be changed but unfortunately that wasnt only bathroom floor mates were so not sure if that was included or not other then that I had a great stay !!

Friendly accommodating staff
Pros:

The bed was comfortable and there was a fan in the room which made the hot nights more bearable. The hotel provides shampoo/shower gel. There was also crisps and biscuits in the room which was a nice touch.

Cons:

Good location if you like a walk but if you're not into walking, Edinburgh and this hotel, might not be for you

It suited my purpose but I wouldn't stay there again.
Pros:

I stayed at the Cairn hotel for one night before a tour of Scotland and one night on my return. The location was quite central. My suitcase was stored for 3 nights whilst I was away, I was assured it would be safe, but it was easily visible from an office on my return. Having paid for the storage I expected it to be away from public view.

Cons:

Some of the staff were unfriendly and not very helpful. For the price I paid I expected better accommodation. The first night I booked a double room and was "upgraded" to a family room, the second night it was a small single room. The rooms were dated, limited facilities and very average.
