Great location, friendly and welcoming staff
Good service
Room we booked wasn't available due to heating breaking down...
The location was perfect and it could accommodate all our friends and family. (We had multiple bookings)
No hot water in the bathroom (301). When I advised of this, there was no apology offered.
The place was dusty and cobwebs were bad in the bedroom.
The staff were disinterested.
The hotel was great for the price. It's very cost efficient so I wasn't expecting much at all and was surprised as to what I got for the value. They are obviously operating on a tight budget but the staff do a great job of welcoming you and keeping you happy.
The only thing was the heating. Over night my room was freezing (6th Feb 2026) - they said they had issues with the heating but it was working in the morning so I wonder if this was cost saving?
Leaving!
Dirty, damp, water running down walls, urine stained mattresses and protectors, insects living in the light fittings, vomit stains all over the carpets on the 3rd floor, soap scum on the taps in bathroom, damp smells, dirty window sills with dead insects, dirty furniture - the building may be old but there is no excuse for the filth. Needs shut down and the whole place gutted. Definitely not worth the money
It was clean and welcoming
Nothing
Set in a stunning location with access to the view via a small Victorian balcony! The Grand is not as grand as in it's original day, but warm and comfortable and extremely good value for money.
Everything welcoming and met our needs.
single room booked , free up grade to double room lovely calm atmosphere in bar area.
nothing stood out.
Since my last visit the staff and general experience was much better. Food (bar meal) was good and bar staff very helpful
The room was absolutely freezing, 2 radiators in the room, neither worked and with 2 large single pane windows it was so cold we had to sleep in jumpers. We told staff the next morning at it appeared that the manager knew about the issue but still let the rooms. We left a day early so we were warm at home instead
Beautiful hotel in a stunning location
Good value
Nothing
The staff, were very attentive and friendly. The hotel, is going through some upgrades, as it's the time of year to be able to complete the work necessary. Great food and very reasonable prices.
Nothing really as everything was expected and explained as they are busy refurbishing the rooms to a better standard whilst keeping a lot of original features.
The ambience of the whole hotel
Nothing
