Excellent location for the IWM Duxford. Comfortable. Friendly staff. Highly recommend.
Lovely staff, lovely room, lovely aesthetic.
Shane cooked breakfast isn’t available all the time
Great location close to IWM, peaceful, plenty parking
After travelling a long way, the dining room was closed, so no food on offer. Also disappointed to only be offered continental breakfast in the morning.
Bathroom was tiny with nowhere to put personal things.
Kettle could only be plugged in at the very edge of the table which we thought was rather dangerous.
One bedside lamp not working.
We liked the dog friendly studio in its quiet location within the nicely maintained grounds. Very comfy beds. A very tasty breakfast and staff were friendly.
Attention to detail in the studio - no wine glasses, only 1 bottle of still water & 2 tea bags although we were able to get more when we asked.
The toiletries were due a refill.
Food was amazing, service little slow in the evening.
Room needs a few updates
Continental only on offer and was extra cost. Used local coffee shop which was excellent
Restaurant and menu were very poor. Owners need to consider that diners do not want to hear personal conversations coming from the kitchen.
Lovely room and very comfy bed. Staff were really friendly and service in the restaurant was excellent. Food served was a high standard and delicious.
Staff were very friendly and welcoming. The semi-recent interior update gives the whole place a more modern and sophisticated look, but does leave small pieces of the original house shining through, like the main staircase.
The room we had was small but cosy, with a very comfortable bed and clean en-suite. The in-room coffee machine and smart TV was a much needed home comfort. Fresh towels supplied in the room.
We had dinner and breakfast in the Salt and Stone Restaurant during our stay, and couldn’t really fault the experience; the food was good, fresh and tasty. It seemed more expensive that average but was good value for money I think. Evening meal had quiet jazz-like music on in the background, so no awkward silence while everyone was eating.
Breakfast was also good, juice and coffee fresh, and the food went down well, even though the eggs were a bit well done.
If I had to be picky, then it would be that most of the floor in the room was creaking loudly when walked on, due to old floorboards. The toilet roll holder was loose on the wall, and the toilet roll itself was maybe 2-ply. One of the bedside lamp bulbs did not turn on. The en-suite tap had slight limescale build up
stairs to access the basement room with small window, under the reception area and restaurant
very noisy at night with other guests making a lot of noise and doors slammed shut
thought I paid for breakfast, in fact it was not included...continental breakfast 10 GBP no cooked breakfast available week days
restaurant very expensice on side, Steak @ 30 GBP with 6 chips and mini sauce, one glass of wine 60 GBP
Location and service was ok
Bathroom could have been / needed to be cleaned more thoroughly
Near to place we were visiting
The hotel looked tired and certainly didn't look 4 star the restaurant was a bit soul less and the bar similar so we went to the local pub.
Great location
Spacious parking
Excellent Staff
Just the bed/mattress was a little bit hard to sleep comfortably on.
Lovely room and location, I’d stay again but avoid the restaurant
Breakfast was awful, from the ingredients to the cooking and service itself. My advocado was grey where it had been sat around for hours (at 9am on a Saturday!) and the bread tasted like cardboard. My husbands fry up was dry and again looked like it had been prepared hours ago and left on the side. We were not offered condiments, and when we asked for butter and ketchup, we were only given ketchup. The coffee was poor and the orange juice too. Nothing felt premium like the location or price tag. You’re better off going to cafe 19 at the community centre for a high quality, great value breakfast.
Comfortable bed
Bathroom rusty soap dish. Toilet and shower stained and mouldy. No hot breakfast available. Dinner exlensive although well cooked.
The shower was good. Towels were clean and soft.
I had high expectations for this stay, based on the photos and reviews on booking.com, but I was very disappointed. The accommodation has had a fair amount of wear and tear since the photos were taken (light switches missing, scuffed paintwork and mouldy/discoloured grout in the shower). To make things worse, it was a cold day when we arrived and the temperature in our room was far below the ambient temperature in the hallway. After several attempts to resolve the situation and turn on the heating, it became apparent that the radiator wasn't working. Staff were unable to supply a heater as their supply of electric heaters were already being used by other guests (suggesting we weren't the only ones without heating). The shower was good and the towels were nice, but otherwise the bathroom didn't have any touches of luxury with no shower gel and only about 1cm of shampoo in the bottle. The restaurant/breakfast room was similarly tired in appearance. There was no breakfast buffet and guests could only select one option from the menu. The breakfast was adequate but uninspiring.
