Whether in Reception or the dining room, I encountered half a dozen different members of staff and all were outstanding.
Outdated facilities and very noisy! Disappointing
Thd hotel room was ok, heati g didnt seem to work, room was very cold. Food was ok but very expensive for what it was, bottle of beer £7.50...wow.
Nice location, could do with updating as a hotel.
Tidy but tired, staff were good and responsive to reports of inconsiderate guests.
This hotel is looking very tired and was poorly serviced. There was black mould all around the back of the bathroom basin and a smear of something on the inside of the bath that I needed to clean. The bath plug hole was completely blocked with previous guests’ hair. I don’t know how they justify the premium pricing for rooms here because this place has become quite run down. I’ve stayed in cleaner and better budget hotels.
The restaurant was good however. We had a very pleasant meal.
Lovely stay
Fantastic, friendly staff, especially at reception, morning restaurant crew, and the bar.
What a lovely building, clean and spacious rooms and a lovely breakfast.
Beautiful historic property. Residence of Gilbert of Gilbert and Sullivan. Room was spacious even though dated. Beautiful view of gardens. Lots of walks through forest. Felt like I was in a fairy tale. Beautiful lobby and breakfast room. Lots of breakfast options. Difficult to manage stairs with luggage. No lift.
The garden rooms are tired and need updating. They were opened in 1982 and there is a feel that they haven’t been refurbished since. Maybe it’s a case of you get what you pay for. Breakfast has also limited in choice and quality. The avocado and eggs on toast was inedible and it’s tricky to get that dish wrong.
Nothing special, very run down and bathrooms in very poor condition and not clean. Someone also had a dog in there room which didn’t stop barking tell 1am in the morning!!
Fantastic hotel with lots of set in the country and therefore very quiet. Breakfast was perfect and a good choice. Recommended all round. Surrounding gardens and area was lovely.
Really nice and friendly staff and the house itself is incredible. Only down side is it does look a bit worn down. In need of some new carpets and a bit of an update in general. Gardens are gorgeous.
Great staff
More information needs to be given about location of accommodation, breakfast menu & where the restaurant is.
Absolutely stunning location and accommodation highly recommended to anyone.
I enjoy my stay thank you
The hotel is dated, dirty and staff have no idea of service.
We were very disappointed with our stay. The garden rooms were shabby and quite frankly depressing. Whilst the main hotel looked really lovely.. we felt like second class citizens. The accommodation was like university halls, doors that slammed, tired decor. Suffice to say, we will not be returning
I was here for nearly three weeks during my home search, and whilst I was worried about the lack of microwave in the room (and lack of laundry facilities), the hotel was really lovely. Breakfast was delicious (if a bit spendy), and the staff were truly professional and caring.
Room was generally quiet, and being apart from the main building meant less impact from the inevitably rowdy and loud events (weddings, parties, birthdays, etc) happening in the event spaces.
Sometimes the events felt like the priority over the guests staying long term, but overall it was a great stay. And the grounds are genuinely brilliant.
