Pros:

Very poor practice, no business ethics followed here. They double booked and charged for the accommodation. Both booking.com and the property were responsible for the technical glitch for which I was penalised to pay over £120 for nothing. They could have easily spotted as no one will book two rooms in the same customer name.

Lovely hotel with a couple of caveats
Pros:

The main house is full of character and is set in 40 acres of woodland. There are also lovely gardens around the house.

The breakfasts were excellent. Good quality ingredients and the hot 'English' breakfast was well-cooked and the dining room staff were very pleasant and helpful.

Cons:

The approach to the hotel wasn't well sign-posted. The sat nav told us we were at our destination before we could see any signs to the hotel. From the side we approached there were not signs on our side of the road and the hotel signs at the entrance were set back from the road. We only just realised where to turn when we were right on top of it.

We had deliberately booked a room in the annex because we had read that guests sometimes need to access rooms in the main hotel via a fire escape when there are certain events on. This worked okay for us with a couple of caveats. There is parking outside the annex, although the blue badge parking which we use was at the other end of the building from the entrance to our room. We hadn't specifically booked a disabled room but one on the ground floor. We found there were steps up and over to get to where our room was so you need to check this if you can't manage steps.

The annex is a modern building and does not have the character of the main hotel. The rooms were okay but quite basic in their furnishings, although the bed was comfy. However, the shower was over the bath and didn't feel terribly safe, especially for someone who is disabled. Again, advised to make clear at time of booking, which we hadn't done.

The booking staff had said that they would be able to book a table for our son's family to join us for lunch at the hotel. They had not actually made the booking. After a moment of panic, however, they did make it possible for us to stay for lunch and staff were very helpful.

Beautiful hotel in a magnificent park
Pros:

The hotel has exceeded my expectations! My husband and I were blown away by the beauty of the building and the surrounding garden and park. We stayed in a room in the garden lodge which is a separate building from the main one, which was also very lovely and the room was comfortable and clean. The interiors in the main building are just gorgeous.

The lady at the reception was nice and helpful which made our impression even better.
We would gladly visit again when we have a chance.

Cons:

Everything was great.

Traditional hotel in beautiful grounds 😊
Pros:

The location of the hotel is so easy to get to set in beautiful grounds. I personally prefer a building with character which this has . The staff were very helpful , warm and welcoming. We ate in the restaurant although the menu was limited the food was well presented and tasty.

Cons:

Nothing
