Highlander over night stay
Pros:

Pleasant staff and a decent clean room

Cons:

Poor standard of food and the bar was a bit bright and basic

Good value for money, nice rooms and good food, although lacking noise insulation between rooms.
Pros:

Breakfast was very good with a good choice of hot food options. Rooms were spacious and lounge facilities excellent. Bar meal in the evening was good too.

Cons:

The beds, whilst ample in size were quite hard, fine if you like that, but not so if you are used to a softer bed. The main concern however was that the noise insulation between rooms was very poor, in my case I was kept awake more than half the night with the banging and movement around of the occupants of the room above. It was far too noticeable

Pleasant except for poor sound proofing of the rooms
Pros:

Friendly staff. The food in the restaurant was abundant for the price, but not great.

Cons:

Even though there were very few guests, we could hear everything (really everything) from other rooms.

Comfy bed, friendly staff. Dog friendly
Pros:

The hotel does look a bit tired. The room we were given was cosy, clean and the bed was comfy. We had dinner and breakfast. The food was ok. The staff were all lovely, very friendly. The hotel is dog friendly.

Hotel looks tired.

Nothing changes bar the staff and the weather, the Highlander's character is perfect and is just right.

Fabulous
Pros:

Breakfast was great, super choices and plenty of it. Rooms were clean and comfortable.
Large lounge for sitting in at night was lovely for playing games in and relaxing.

Really convenient for main road. Lovely helpful reception staff. A good sense of offering proper service in comfortable surroundings. The breakfast staff were so attentive and professional. A good room. Warm on a cold nasty day. Clean bathroom. Tea and coffee tray. Meal and a bar. Dogs welcome at no extra cost which is such a bonus. All round very good. Thanks

The only niggle was the bathroom light switch was by the main door of the room. But not a problem.

On the whole it was bearable, we're unlikely to stay here again.
Pros:

Bathroom and shower were nice.

Cons:

No air conditioning, we had to ask for a fan.
Heavy quilt was used when sustained hot weather suggested a sheet was more than sufficient.
All the floor boards squeaked every time we moved across the room.
People smoking outside was really unpleasant, smoke rose to our open window, every time someone was smoking.
The breakfast although was tasty it was more like a child's portion.
