Hôtel Le Choiseul

This is a lovely old mansion with beautiful lush green grounds. The rooms have classic furnishings, high ceilings and give you a great feel of period living. It’s walking distance to all attractions. The restaurant serves excellent French cuisine.

The receptionist was welcoming and friendly. The breakfast buffet was not great. They charged 22 euros, but quality was not good. For example, selection was not good and scramble eggs tasted like soggy. Comparing price and food didn’t match. The property was so beautiful!

Beautiful, charming cottage... like stepping back in time. Very romantic. Property grounds are lovely. Buildings are showing their age, but that's part of the charm. Due for renovation in Jan '25. Staff was professional & helpful. Breakfast & dinner at the hotel are pricey.

Very close to the town centre.
The room was well appointed spacious and quiet.
The hotel facilities were excellent. The reception staff were attentive and always available.
The on-site restaurant served excellent food in the evening.
There was a swimming pool on-site which was open, although unheated when I was there but that was not a problem at all for me.
Checking in and out all easy and convenient.

The rooms and restaurant were excellent, I chose a superior room overlooking the Loire River. 1st floor, The disappointment was the state of the grounds - swimming pool looked neglected, and the gardens and pathways were untidy.

Super happy to stay in this hotel. It is located in the heart of Amboise, right by the Loire river and it is nice, clean and quiet.Beautiful room. Staffs are nice and helpful. The food in the restaurant is well presented and taste great! A very pleasant stay.

We recently stayed at this hotel, which used to be very nice, but now it is in need of a good remodel. The area is beautiful, and the building itself has great potential. The rooms and bathrooms need a lot of work, and the AC and heater require significant improvements. It's wonderful to hear that the hotel will be closing for renovations, as the property has so much to offer once it's refreshed.

The room had a private terrace which was very nice, and the room was appropriately decorated. The bed was too hard for me and the bathroom while large was dated. The staff was friendly.

Good sized room with a terrace. Easy walking distance to chateau d’Amboise and restaurants. Comfortable but in need of general renovation.

We found the staff was great, ice restaurant but the place was tired and unkept grounds. We learned the place is going to close in Jan 2025 for an 18 month renovation. I can only imagine how nice it will be when complete. The owner is a multi hotel owner and well experienced in offering excellent hotel experiences.

Le Choiseul was a beautiful place to stay with lots of charm and history. Their restaurant was wonderful and I recommend dinner there while staying at Le Choiseul. All of the employees were very gracious. My only two “complaints “ were that our room had no wifi (perhaps due the thick walls) and the shower hose could not be attached to anything so you always had to hold it. Otherwise I highly recommend the hotel and restaurant

The room was in the attic - where servants used to be - and decoratively very tired, stuffy and shabby furniture. Nowhere near the four stars it claimed to be or worth the four star price of the stay. Questions asked of reception seemed too much trouble not least a shrug when asked when the bar opened.

We had a wonderful stay at the Choiseul, from the moment we checked in to the moment we drove away for the last time, the staff was top notch. They even set up a seating area for us in the terrace of our room so our friends from a neighboring room could join us for wine in the shadow of the Royal Chateau. Room #4 is the best!! And don’t stay here without eating at Le 36 - the food was amazing! Just a wonderful stay in Amboise.

Good location, quirky property. In need of a little update here and there but slept well and the shower is ok. Didnt eat in the hotel but it was very quiet and. Room was a great size.

Bath tub hard to get in and out of. Needs grab bars. Drain very slow. A selection of pillow softness would be nice. I needed a softer pillow.

Property needs updating, garden not tended too. Room was large, quiet with quaint patio. Bathroom older.restsurant food was presented nicely but average.
