Perfect overnight stay with our dog
Pros:

Needed to stop during our travels through France, beautiful room and perfect grounds for our dog to walk. Very accommodating staff.

Beautiful building lacking in basic functionality. Most likely busy in summer but a little abandoned in winter.

We’ve stayed before in the summer and it was lovely. Location, staff and atmosphere.

Cons:

I’m sorry but this time I can’t rate it highly this time. As a regular traveler throughout Europe I found myself at a deserted chateau ( 1 other party ) with no restaurant open. With offer of breakfast in room or bar. Having stayed at two hotels 4/5 star before this one In Biarritz and Salamanca I was able to compare prices versus facilities. Sadly we won’t be back. Extremely disappointed as we thought we’d found a gem before.

It is a nice place for high season only

Atmosphere of real castle

I paid no refundable money in advance
Only before arriving they said that restaurant is closed in winter season.
There are no other restaurants nearby on foot.
So we had to drink wine and have dinner at the room
In was no romantic during 4 evenings

The information about unexpected inconveniences must be given before booking.

Stunning property, but service and communication could be better
Pros:

The property is truly beautiful, with extensive grounds that are perfect for walking the dog. The hotel is easy to find, the room was very clean, and the bed was comfortable.

Cons:

The staff in the afternoon didn’t seem particularly friendly, though to be fair, they seemed quite stressed as there was only one person managing the reception. I was also disappointed that I had contacted the hotel in advance to arrange dinner at the restaurant and was told I could dine on the terrace, but upon arrival, the restaurant was closed. After driving more than eight hours, it was quite frustrating to have to find an alternative at the last minute — not something you would expect from a four-star hotel.

Room fine although not in the main castle possibly because of our dogs; dinner was absolutely fantastic and breakfast was very good. Great gardens.

A fabulous stay that exceeded our expectations.
Pros:

The property is very beautiful; the location is ideal; the staff are delightful; the food is delicious; and our room, although not large, was charming and very well appointed.

The hotel does not have a fitness room, but there are excellent opportunities in the area for hiking and biking.
