The hotel is beautifully decorated in a traditional Italian style, even the staff are wearing traditional dress! The food served in the restaurant was a big surprise, we did not expect such a high standard with many unique and delicious dishes, the chef is to be commended. Our room was cleaned daily to a high standard and we had everything we needed for a 4 night ski break (warmth & a comfortable and cosy bed/room).
While the hotel provides a complimentary shuttle to the Dolonne gondola, they do not provide one to the Courmayeur cable car. This isn’t a problem unless you want to go into the town after skiing for a drink or some food straight from skiing, in which case you must go back to the hotel (via the Dolonne pick up) and then walk into the town. There are no bars or restaurants by the Dolonne lift so you have no options for apres ski on that side. Courmayeur isn’t a big apres ski place, but it would have been nice to have the option to go straight from a lift to the town for a drink or bite to eat.
We also didn’t feel there was much information to be had about getting taxis or transfers to other parts of the valley or even to the Monte Blanc Skyway cable car. However we did only ask the older lady and I think the younger gentleman (possibly the owner) might have been more helpful if we pursued it. Walking around though, there doesn’t appear to be any taxis (there is a bus), so you might want to look into this properly if you wish to venture further.
The only other criticism would be that you have to hire out the use of the small gym during the same time as the spa (only 3 set times in the evening), because the hotel is small they don’t want guests who may be sleeping in to hear any noises from the gym/spa area (which is fair enough) but don’t book this hotel based on your need to use a gym. The gym itself is an open area which contains only an old treadmill and an old multi weight machine which isn’t very good (you are limited on actual exercises you can do properly).
De kwaliteit en opmaak van avondeten, het uitgebreide ontbijt en aardig personeel
Van de uitgebreide wijnkaart was iedere keer maar 1 fles op voorraad
Lovely personal and friendly staff
Nothing
Pleasant ,traditional ,family run hotel.Comfortable bed, ample hot water.Quiet.Good wifi.
Pleasant front desk staff. I had a grand view of majestic snow-covered mountains from my first floor room.
This hotel is not on the main street that cuts through the village, but rather is about a 5- minute walk from it-level grade,no hill. No traffic noise whatsoever-and I slept with a window open.
Breakfast was poor-but in fairness, that seems to be the norm in many Italian hotels. Few healthy choices.Too many sweets ; too much sugar in everything.Three nut butters ,for example, were all sugar, worse than Nutella(so I bought 100% pure peanut butter from a store in town and used it each of my 3 mornings).Low quality cereals.Cheap sliced bread. Why not arrange to obtain some delicious freshly baked bread from a nearby bakery? I did appreciate the home made fruit cocktail ,and soy cappuccino. Wonderful restaurant staff.
Overall a good hotel,and I'd return.
Ottima posizione a 5 minuti dal centro, cordialità e disponibilità dello Staff. Un apprezzamento particolare per la cucina davvero speciale con il personale sempre presente. Spa gradevole e rilassante
Posizione, camere ed ambienti comuni!
Personale impeccabile!
3) personale TUTTO gentilissimo e oltremodo socievole
4) camere confortevoli e pulite
5) salottino con camino rilassante e chic
6) attenzione al gluten free a colazione e a cena (torte fatte in casa TUTTE SENZA GLUTINE - 4-5 al giorno)
7) navetta gratuita per gli impianti di Dolon
8) ottimo ristorante interno
9) ski room con riscaldatori per scarponi
10) centro benessere in struttura
Aree migliorabili (ove possibile)
1) numero posti auto ridotto (5 in box e ca. 6/7 sul retro. Nelle vicinanze (2 minuti a piedi( c'è cmq parcheggio a pagamento a ca. 10 euro giorno.
Tutto
Nulla
We didn't like everything. We arrived as a family at 14-30. We went to the hotel where, as always, we thought that we would be welcomed as guests, very warmly and kindly. Do you know what they told us? Come back in an hour, there is no room for your luggage and there is no place for you to wait. We said OK and left. This was just the beginning of this terrible vacation at this "historic" hotel. The rooms are old and cold.
We didn't like: breakfast (very small selection), rooms (cold batteries, old renovation), mattresses (sagging and impossible to sleep on), paid (water, coffee, tea), poor spa area(no good lighting, cold sauna, old renovation), staff attitude. The feeling of saving the hotel on everything.
