Renovation Alpine Chic Rooms
Until mid-December we are renovating all Alpine Chic rooms with a complete new look. The entire side of the Hotel above the bar will therefore be closed, the Spa, Restaurant, Bar and smoking lounge stay open as per usual. Some construction noise will be expected.
Renovation work will be done weekdays, during business hours.Guests are required to show a photo ID and credit card upon check-in. Please note that all Special Requests are subject to availability and additional charges may apply.
Guests under the age of 18 can only check in with a parent or official guardian.

When planning our two-night ski stay in Zermatt, a friend recommended Hotel Alpenhof and I’m so glad they did. It turned out to be a wonderful choice, with beautiful rooms, exceptional service, and an unbeatable location.
Our stay began with a prompt pickup from the train station. At check-in, we were warmly welcomed by a staff member who was incredibly kind and helpful. She took the time to explain details about the resort and even escorted us to our room to show us how to adjust the temperature which was done through the TV.
We booked the Alpine Chic Room to accommodate the three of us, and it was perfect. Our room had a view of the Matterhorn! Our college aged son slept on the pull-out couch and commented that it was very comfortable.
The hotel’s location couldn’t be better, just a few blocks from the train station and directly across from the tunnel leading to the Sunnegga funicular. Restaurants and shops are all within easy walking distance, making everything convenient and accessible.
We were only in there for a couple of days and didn’t have time to take full advantage of everything the hotel and Zermatt have to offer, however we will absolutely be returning and Hotel Alpenhof will be our first choice.
We stayed at Hotel Alpenhof for a family ski holiday and when we visit Zermatt again, we will definitely stay at the Alpenhof again. The hotel is very smart, the food is good and the location is excellent as it is just across from the main route to the slopes. The best thing though is the atmosphere in the very friendly bar. The bar manager (Ali) and his colleague Mattia had a nice word for everyone and the service was excellent !
This hotel has everything you want for a special stay; starting from spa to sparkling clean rooms. Staff is paying attention to your needs and is very helpful. Food is delicious and dinner atmosphere after a ski day is cozy and warm.
The location is perfect, close to Zermatt center and Sunnega funnicular.
I would definitely come back to this hotel for my next trip to Zermatt.
This review is for the Cigar Lounge & Bar. The cigar lounge was the highlight of our evening activities for this trip! This was 100% due to Ale and his expert cocktails and friendly attitude. The great selection of cigars and clubby, warm lounge was also spot-on. I was on a boys trip and a few of us visited twice.
The first night of our trip we were on our way home but saw the "Cigar Lounge" sign while walking along the river to our AirBnb. We walked in. Ale introduced himself immediately. We quickly toured the lounge, checking the selection and menu, and said we'd be back the next night.
When we came back the following night at 9PM it was quite busy in the lounge. Ale let us know he had to help a few groups ahead of us both in the lounge and the bar area. When he came over he was genuinely happy to see us again and that we had returned. We each enjoyed a classic Partagas D4 and a few Manhattans (with Sazerac Rye). The drinks were expertly made with garnishes and great ice.
We were one of the last groups in the bar when we left at 11:30 PM and really got to know Ale. He's the kind of person you want to meet on a vacation abroad: hear their story and make a connection.
The next morning I realized I had lost my wallet! I had a feeling it had fallen out of my pocked in the deep leather chairs in the lounge at Hotel Alpenhof. I called their front desk and they had it! I claimed it an hour later and went to thank Ale but he wasn't in yet.
We went back the following night and had another wonderful night--once again ending up the last group in the bar and enjoying talking with Ale. This night we had Romeo & Julieta Mille Flores and more Manhattans.
If Ale represents the service one receives at Hotel Alpenhof, I would stay there in a second. In fact, the front desk staff I dealt with while retrieving my wallet were very friendly and accommodating so I'm sure that the service would extend to the rooms and restaurants.
This should be a stop in Zermatt for any cigar afficionados--easily our favorite lounge on the trip, and we visited three. Be sure to say hello to Ale.
