Très propre
We stayed at Arcadia on the fourth night of our road trip through France, Switzerland, Italy, and Monaco, and it came as a massive surprise! We were greeted by, we believe, Julia, who was an absolute delight. She offered us an upgrade and gifted our daughter a cuddly toy.
The room was amazing, on the 5th floor, overlooking the promenade, the port, and the charter boats. At night, the view was spectacular. It felt like a studio flat, offering a kitchenette with a fridge, a coffee machine, and honestly more than we needed. The beds were ginormous and super comfy, and despite being close to the main roads, the room was very quiet.
The restaurant offered plenty of great choices; the food was high‑end and the wine selection was spot on. The swimming pool was clean and inviting. Even though the hotel and pool are right by the promenade, it didn’t feel overlooked by the public. Swimming towels were unlimited and free of charge, which was surprising and unusual. At night, you can go up to the sun-roof to admire the moonrise.
The location of the hotel couldn’t be better. You’re just across the road from the lake, less than a 10‑minute walk to the town centre, and about the same to the old town. The Orselina funicular is also around 10 minutes away and takes you up to Madonna del Sasso in another 10 minutes.
Breakfast is more than anyone could wish for, plenty of fresh and hot choices, fruit, cheese, pastries, dairy products… you name it!
In the morning, we tried to find Julia to thank her for such a lovely welcome, but we just missed her , so here we are, hoping she will see this. KEEP DOING WHAT YOU ARE DOING, because you are absolutely AMAZING at your job! Thank you!
The car park was a bit of a kafuffle. We knew before arriving that we might have an issue with the underground parking because our car has low suspension. What we didn’t realise was that the car park has:
1) a very steep ramp with a speed hump halfway down, and 'doorstep' and
2) angled parking bays instead of flat spaces , much more suitable for SUVs.
The moment we drove down, we started scratching our heads thinking, *HOW THE HELL ARE WE GETTING OUT OF HERE TOMORROW?* We didn’t even manage to park in our designated space because the exhaust started catching on the ramp before we could drive up to the right level. So we dumped the car and decided it was “tomorrow’s problem.”
Thankfully, the next morning, with a lot of *to the left, to the right, to the left, to the right* manoeuvring, we managed to get out with the bumper still attached to the car.
So… to sum up: GREAT PLACE, go and stay! But if you’re arriving in a sports car or anything with low suspension, park elsewhere. The hotel staff will advise you, as they do have a substitute car park available, we just didn’t ask in time.

Nettes Personal
Uns wurde versichert, dass wir beim Hotel parkieren können. Allerdings waren alle Parkplätze bereits belegt. Wir wurden dann in ein nahegelegenes Parking verwiesen. Damit wir nicht die Tagespauschale von CHF 51 bezahlen müssen, erhielten wir vom Hotel einen Voucher für CHF 19. Damit wir von diesem aber profitieren konnten, mussten wir eigenständig im Büro des Parkings (das zeitgleich das Büro von Europcar ist) vorbei gehen und das Ticket bezahlen. Das Büro hat am Samstag jedoch nur vormittags 2h und nachmittags 2h geöffnet. Dadurch mussten wir unseren Tagesplan anpassen, damit wir nicht den vollen Betrag fürs Parking bezahlen müssen. Weil zeitgleich noch zwei Familien ihre Mietautos abholen wollten, verloren wir 1h durchs Warten. Das Hotel war überhaupt nicht unterstützend und es war sehr mühsam, dass man als Gast alleine gelassen wird. Daher ist das Hotel für mich zukünftig keine Option mehr.
