Let me start with the positives: this place is clean, neat, tidy, and in a lovely and quiet location. The room was immaculately clean. Breakfast was delicious.
My stay there was terrible however due to the extremely unkind (verging on the extremely mean) treatment by one of the family members running this place -the middle aged woman.
I had been driving for seven hours to get there, right before I reached the nearby main city, Bolzano, a severe thunderstorm struck and the GPS sent me around in loops. Finally, using my bad Italian and the mediocre English of locals in Bolzano, I was able to make the risky drive up to Soprabolzano taking the hairpin turns in the severe storm. Instead of arriving at 7pm as I had planned, I arrived a few minutes after 9pm --long before the hotel's recommended late arrival limit. The middle aged lady received me with a huge frown, literally slapped my room key on the desk, and sent me to my room like a disobedient child saying that she will finish the check in the next day before breakfast. She never shared with me any information about the hotel's amenities, the internet password...etc. When I asked her where I can eat dinner, she specifically told me that there is nowhere to eat dinner. I found out the next day an abundance of cafes, bars and hotels with restaurants within walking distance! Her horribly mean treatment continued throughout my stay. I would never recommend this place to anyone.
Glad I took the tram up from Bolzano, the views and quality of hotels are much better up the mountain
Once we found it, at the top of a mountain, we thought the hotel, its view, the room, the family who owns it, the dinner, the breakfast, everything was superb. Worth every penny ...
Wonderful hotel, family ran. They gave us a card to use for local Tram, Trolley and museums. The road to the hotel is an easy 17 KM, about 20 minutes from the Bozen/Bolzano which are the same towns. The free breakfast had everything a person could desire. Easy parking at the hotel. The only difficulty was locating the address on GPS, but if you get to Bozen the local people will direct you to Oberbezen.
the Hotel is very nice with big and comfortable rooms, very clean and tidy. The service could be better: breakfast served starting from 8am (a bit late for me), internet only in the hall, not in the rooms.
i was travelling for business and i didn't expect the hotel was so far from the city of Bolzano, it is about 13 km out of the city, in a remote location on the montains. I needed to wake up early and meeting clients in Bolzano, and i couldn't have breakfast because they start serving it at 8am...they made an effort to ask me when i was on the door leaving "Well, if you really want a coffee we can make it for you...", i think they can definitely improve and be much more helpful than they were with me. Actually, at the end of the day it was my mistake: i was travelling for business and not for a relaxed holiday on the mountains, i intended to book a different Hotel Regina (same name!!!) that is in the very centre of the city of Bolzano, right in front of the train station!! so if you are booking Hotel Regina, pay attention which one you select!!
