Ontbijt was karig, geen eieren. Geen airco maar wel een Fan en de ramen konden open, parkeren kan in de straat via de app Yellow Brick en andere bekende apps
Outstanding hospitality and service, went above and beyond
We stayed for 4 nights. Our original plan was to get off the Eurostar at Cologne, find luggage storage nearby, and head to the hotel later in the day. Mid-journey we realised our actual stop was Liège-Guillemins, where the hotel is, so we changed plans on the spot, hopped off early, and figured we'd ask the hotel to store our luggage for the day before checking in properly later.
The hotel were more than accommodating. Not only did they offer to store our luggage, they found a room that was already cleaned and checked us in early instead, meaning we got to explore Cologne completely baggage-free. It made a real difference to our day.
A couple of small hiccups came up during the stay, both handled brilliantly. My credit card showed a duplicate charge, and the hotel investigated it thoroughly and patiently. At no point did I feel like an inconvenience, even though the issue turned out to be on the card provider's side rather than theirs. Separately, our room safe (a newer digital model) locked itself. Staff came straight away, worked to get it open while we were out for the day, relocked it, and kept the code safe for us until we returned.
Beyond the service, the hotel itself was excellent: a warm, welcoming atmosphere, always a genuine smile at reception, and the room was clean and comfortable with a safe and tea/coffee making facilities. The location is unbeatable, with the train station literally across the street.
One small heads-up: because it's so close to the station, you can hear the platform announcements quite early in the morning, so light sleepers who want a lie-in might want to factor that in.
Overall, this was hospitality that genuinely went above and beyond. Highly recommend.
Only one suggestion - A few more Vegan options. Its not something that affected me directly but my friend is Vegan and was affected so I felt it should be included.

Staff on arrival were friendly and helpful, giving us a clear rundown of hours and how to reach someone if not at the desk. There's a lovely, comfortable communal area, and the hotel has a lot of genuine character and personality.
At breakfast, my friend picked up two slices of mouldy bread. I took it to reception, staff spoke to each other in French, looked at the bread, looked at me somewhat dismissively, and said "it's ok," with no apology. The bread was eventually changed, but not straight away, and it left me too uneasy to trust anything else on the buffet, so I didn't eat breakfast there on either day, which meant unexpected extra costs for meals elsewhere.
Housekeeping left something to be desired. The hotel makes beds by folding the duvet in half and laying it lengthways, so when we made our own beds properly before heading out, housekeeping's visit later that day effectively undid this rather than servicing the room. The same sheets, which had holes in them, were still there. A blanket and cushion that had been in the room when we arrived were gone (we later found them in a cupboard), and our tea cups had been swapped for clean ones but not restocked with tea or coffee, so we had to go back down to reception. When we asked about the sheets, staff said they only change them on shorter stays if visibly dirty, which didn't really explain what the room visit had achieved.
Two other issues affected our stay. There was no socket near the kettle, so it had to be moved to the bedside cabinet each time to use it. More concerning, the TV turned itself on in the middle of the night at full brightness, waking us both up for no apparent reason.
The lift is old and clunky (the alternative is a stone spiral staircase, not practical with luggage). The walk to the station isn't too long, approx 20 minutes, but it passes through some questionable areas, so on the morning we had our luggage with us, we paid for an Uber instead as it felt safer.

Interior room design is simple but done in style. I like all these small things on the wall. It was quiet at night. I met 3 receptionists during my stay, all of them were very polite and helpful. The bathroom is very nice and quite big. Too bad I didn't use the bath :) The breakfast was one of the best I ever had in the hotels. Everything is fresh and you have big varieties of food to choose from. And it's delicious.
The neighborhood and area is not nice. Garbage on the road, some weird people, graffiti on the walls (ugly grafitti, which ruins the street look). But I have to say I felt safe. Even at night when I went out, everything went smooth and safe.
Super friendly and helpful staff made for a nice first impression and easy check-in. I liked the look of the lounge area in the lobby and the terrace outside. The room was comfortable and equipped with everything I needed. The hotel is about a 15 minutes walk to the nearest train station, and tram stops plus a Villo rental bike station about 5-10 minutes away, so even if you're outside the very center of the city everything is still accessible. Overall, this was ideal for my weekend stay while I had events planned around the area of Vorst!
The shower did run warm, but sometimes took a little while to get there. Some cabinets could use a refresh/touch-up around the handles. The breakfast was good, but some hot options (perhaps on-order) would make it better.

Location convenient for tram.
Basement apartment was musty on arrival. Clean and comfortable but very musty.
Location was fairly dodgy at night.
