From the moment of arrival to leaving, we felt warmly looked after with exceptional attention. The hotel is in a wonderful position in that you do not need to use a car once you are there as everything is workable. Charming little Paradise on the edge of everything in Portofino.
Clean cute boutique hotel. Great staff Very detailed
Hotel room was okay. Needs renovations.. bathroom shower head set up creates a water mess. Check in with Aziz was wonderful tho, staff overall in both locations were great, def made the stay better.
Hotel 8 in Portofino? An absolute nightmare. I booked a room for August 9th to 12th through Expedia-my mistake, meant September-but Expedia was a dream, trying to fix it. Amanda, the reservations manager, and Ermis, the resident manager, though? Total stonewall. They hit me with a no refund policy lecture and zero flexibility. After heated emails, they finally agreed to switch to my September 9th to 12th dates, but-get this-wanted another 3,700 euros on top of the 3,200 euros I'd already paid, claiming my original room was unavailable and I'd get a fancy one. I checked online, and the same room was still bookable for less! Called them out, and they just doubled down, refusing to budge. Now they won't even change my dates. TripAdvisor reviews echo this-others call Hotel 8 dinky, poorly located, and overpriced for Portofino. I'm visiting in September and will see it myself, but for now, steer clear of this place unless you love getting fleeced
Location, cleanless
My husband and I stayed at the Eight Hotel in early July 2025. The hotel was AMAZING. We were in a Deluxe Room, recently renovated with high quality finishings and designs like the White Lotus. The luxurious black marble bathroom had dual sinks, and a heated floor. The location is extraordinary, just 2 blocks from the port/pizetta. The shuttle service to the beach was very timely and comfortable. The beaches are a 4-5 minute drive, and all three main beaches (Dior, Dolce, and the Eight are all next to each other). Breakfast was good. The guests appeared to be mostly couples. The staff were nice, especially Ricardo. This is a boutique hotel with 8 floors. I think this is the best Hotel in Portofino, a true 5 star boutique hotel, if you do not want to spring for the Splendido. The Eight hotel is a one hour drive from the Genoa airport, given the roadways, and the taxi cost is around 175-225 Euros. There are no Ubers in Portofino, so taxis are the only possibilities. I would stay at the Eight again, either in Portofino or other Italian cities where the Eight has hotels.
The rooms are nicely appointed although I had some mild issues with the plumbing at first. I am not a fan of half showers, but that is common there, especially in older properties. The one caution in the bathroom is the height of the tub above the floor...it can be a bit dangerous as the floor appears to be a couple inches lower than the tub bottom...just a small warning in my particular room. Lobby is lovely. Breakfast is very pleasant and the staff works hard to make it so. The air conditioning is slow to get cool, so extra steps like closing the blinds and and sealing off the bathroom was needed as the bath had a sun filled window. Elevator is quite small but works well. Steps are open and easily used. the only terrace is at the top of the hotel. Not particularly useful. No bar, No view. Local transport to their other hotel on Paraggi beach is excellent. Clean up staff are up to the task. Location is fine...short walk to the harbor at Portofino. Nice tv and room amenities. For the rate I might have expected a bit more than provided, but overall a very nice hotel in a lovely little part of Italy.
The hotel is beautiful. Small and intimate. The location is perfect within easy walking distance of everything.
Just had two nights at this fabulous hotel and wish it was longer! The attention to detail everywhere is amazing. Just a short 5 min stroll into Portofino harbor with all its shops bars and restaurants and then to return to a little slice of heaven. The bed was so comfortable and the room so quiet. The breakfast is absolutely fantastic with a range of everything you could wish for all exquisite the fresh bread was still warm! The Dyson hairdryer was an extra touch of luxury. Definitely hope to return one day.
Just had 2 nights here. Absolutely beautiful hotel within short walking distance to Portofino harbor with all the restaurants and shops. The attention to detail at this hotel is incredible. The breakfast buffet is amazing with huge variety of choices fantastic warm bread and pastries, everything you could wish for. Dyson hairdryer in the room was an extravagant touch and dried my hair in 10 min instead of 20! Definitely hope to return one day!
