Nice hotel staff and food nice.
A really nice place to stay. Adults Only so really no stress and very nice grounds. Very helpful staff at front of desk, room service and restaurant.
Relax and enjoyable surroundings.
I love Playa Blanca and have stayed in many hotels there but this one was shocking. The room was functional but no assistance on arrival to find it and the layout was not easy to negotiate. The pool area was tired with several areas closed off including an old wooden steps to a balcony which had seen better days. The safe was broken and took 3 calls to reception to send a member of staff to reset it. Also the first day we were there rain water came in thrpugh the patio doors and the shower flooded the bathroom, again reported to reception and eventually after escalating this to the holiday company soneone came mopped up the water and gave us extra towels to put by the door. We reported rainwater coming in through the doors several times and each time a maid appeared with towels...strange as the hotel are now claiming we only reported it once. The room smelt of damp and speaking to our neighbours they told us it had flooded with the last occupants too. On closer inspection we saw saturated wood with damp on the base of the bedside tables explaining the smell. I have pictures of this and mould on the bathroom ceiling. Something the hotel again denies....come on honesty here would be appreciated as we have photographic evidence.
What an amazing experience and I truly thank 2 organisations for my 1st holiday since 2017 and that too, solo. A huge thank you to Kia from TUI Hayes branch, every box was ticked from the moment I stepped into the airport in the accessibility area to my return home. The hotel, although I was notified of minor work's on site, oddly behind my hotel room, I was not at any stage experienced any disturbance. Let's start with the staff, completely above and beyond, being disabled I was concerned but clearly for no reasons. The mobility scooter was kept by reception and to charge overnight, the restaurant staff, in particular Alessia (I hope that was her name), as soon as came into restaurant, she would wait for me to find where I was going to sit and whilst getting my food, upon return to table, I had beverages ready to my taste. The manager of THB Royal, again, there was nothing she couldn't accommodate, above and beyond. I only have one request and that is paella on the menu, don't get me wrong, the restaurant menu be it breakfast or dinner, it's freshly cooked and outstanding but paella once a week would be great and us Brits love our Sunday roast. For someone with more than one disabilities, I would highly recommend the THB Royal. I would also suggest if you are on mobility scooter like I am, don't bring yours, hire from Dan, very reasonable and completely suitable for the surface of the path's, mine probably would have struggled with some of the raised pavements, so please, Google search mobility scooter hire and choose Dan but more so choose this hotel, it's not far from seafront but set in quite lovely surroundings. I will definitely be coming to THB Royal real soon. Looking forward to seeing you all soon. Thank you so much for everything you all did in supporting me.
Hello I stayed at the THB Hotel Royal lanzarote from 11th to 15th February 2026
This is a very clean and tidy hotel. In addition the staff are friendly and helpful.
We had a junior suite to stay in with lots of space.
The bathroom was well fitted with a first rate rainfall shower.
The decoration at this hotel is minimalist to say the least.
If you’re expecting lots of warm touches then they are not here.
It does mean there are no cosy sitting areas and the public rooms echo a lot.
I would definitely return.
Only purchased a budget room on last minute booking. My room orn 2nd floor over restaurant facing reception so maybe bit noisy in main season but was nicely quiet for me, great view of mountains and out over towards Marina in distance, lotsa sun til 3pm-ish.
I can imagine certain rooms don't get sun/feel dark or damp but you have to tell reception asap and get moved.
Room ( small suite) basic though spacious but clean enough (not UK clean but ok) . Couple of maintenance issues ie sliding wardrobe doors wouldn't stay shut & damp patch on ceiling -just ignored them and got on with my hol.
Restaurant expensive if you're not All-inc . food is plentiful but quite bland and the lighting here and in the bar is garish. No idea why they can't make it more subtle.
Aldi up the road is useful and if you need exercise the 15 min walk to town or marina is just right.
L30 local bus very useful for around all of Playa Blanca.
Generally an older style property, recently tarted up, pretty gardens and pools with most obliging friendly staff.
If you've already booked don't worry it's fine ( from a regularly traveller )
To be quite frank, my partner and I were a tad concerned given the reviews posted on TripAdvisor and Google, however, on our arrival we found the reviews to be unfounded. While we would not want to discount other people's experiences, we found THB Royal to be a pleasant stay.
While I do not think the hotel will be everyone's cup of tea, particularly if you're looking to party, the hotel was plenty relaxing.
The amenities are perfectly adequate, the pool has plenty of sunbeds and I can only imagine in the summer there are more than enough activities.
The location is perfect, with a short walk to the beachfront and a short walk to the Aldi down the road (how it would take someone ten minutes to walk there is beyond me, as alluded to by a previous reviewer).
Our room was absolutely superb, when in comparison to some dives we have stayed in (thinking back to a >4 star hotel in Naples), with good space, decent heating and air conditioning, comfortable beds, and no issues to note with the bathroom and drainage.
The service from hotel staff was good, with friendliness, good communication, and helpfulness at every turn.
Food was of a good variety, with everything prepared to a good standard, good taste, and something for everyone.
Spent 7 nights at THB Royal in playa blanca, travelled with my sister, we booked via TUI. We were really looking forward to relax and rest in the sun, and at first glance the hotel looks fantastic.
We got a room on second floor by zen area and it is indeed a quiet and relaxing area. No sun at any point in the day on the balconies (we had 2), which was a bit disappointing but we spent the days by zen pool area instead, so it was fine.
The pool was so cold that smaller children cried, but ot looked clean and was not at all crowded (probably because of the temperature?).
Sunbeds are easy to find but not clean and when moving them a bit you can find rubbish under (we noticed a piece of food on first day that was still there 2 days later).
Unfortunately, cleaning is not up to standard in the room either.
The surfaces are never wiped off and floor is only wiped sloppy leaving hair and dirt, and never behind doors.
We are both very mindful and clean (both have worked in service and particularly during seasons) so we put away our stuff every day to make cleaning easy, and even bought a little basket to keep our suncream, shampoo etc so it would be easy to lift while cleaning in the bathroom. This didn’t help, not sure if the sink was ever cleaned during our stay.
We had some rain and wind the last three-four days, which is unfortunate but no one can control the weather, so we just made the best of it.
However, rain leaked into the room, which can and should be controlled, so we reported it to reception (first time was on Friday) and maintenance (thank you serviceminded Eduardo!) came by and fixed a clogged drain on the balcony, and arranged with towels to dry up excess water over night.
Sunday morning we woke up having half of bedroom floor flowed with water, which was very unpleasant, not to mention dangerous given the hotel-telephone cord was under water and we did not notice the wet floor until we stepped in it getting out of bed (electricity and water should never mix).
Luckily we had no personal belongings except my (inexpensive) slippers (room was very cold) on the floor by the bed. Also luckily, none of us slipped which is a risk when tile-floor is wet.
We alerted reception and was surprised with the lack of urgency to solve this for their guests that paid a lot of money to come their hotel, there was also no compassion or apology for how this affected our holiday.
Instead we had to go and ask staff ”pronto please” to come and remove the water from the floor.
The cleaning lady was furious we demanded this ”instant” support (we had already waited almost an hour!!) and was very rude and unprofessional, ignoring us and muttering in Spanish and claiming this happens every time when raining during her 10 years working there.
This was even more shocking, they knew about the problem from before but did not make sure to check weather forecast and prevent the problem instead let guests wake up and deal with this in the morning!
She eventually called her supervisor and we thought that now someone professional serviceminded person will come and take control of this situation, but no. No apology, no kindness, and now we have 2 people in our room roaming around muttering in Spanish, making us feel like WE are the problem. Worst morning ever!! I actually cried when they left, feeling like vacation mood is ruined with this treatment.
When we asked to talk to management and they said they are not available until Monday (this was Sunday), and we said ok but we are leaving on Monday morning, cleaning lady said ”Yes!!” and laughed like a maniac? I do not think they understand that this is not professional at all and that we actually saved up to pay a lot of money to go on this vacation and are now being treated like this is not ok!
This time they left towels again, covering the balcony-doors and this was lucky because at night it rained again and the towels stopped the water from flowing in (we actually had trouble sleeping so we got up and checked several times during the night to make sure). However, it is not a long-term solution since it also stops the only places where air can come in, leaving the room insanely humid and damp.
In the morning, before leaving with taxi to airport, we again asked to talk to the manager but despite knowing we stood across the room waiting to speak with her, she never approached us in the reception so I guess she was not interested to talk to us.
We are never coming here again, and despite some good parts, it is not possible to give the overall experience anything else than 1 star in review.
I do hope that management/owner takes this seriously and make some changes. I understand that having season 365 days a year is exhausting for staff but each week brings new guests and it is never ok to treat guests like this. Please be more pro-active for next time and control the situation, and please put your ”guest-goggles” on and take a stroll around your hotel and you will easily spot the issues with cleaning. Educate staff to be more serviceminded and please send ”our” cleaning lady on vacation, she seems to need it.
A lovely hotel set back from the busy front. Some steps but also a lift to the first floor level. Two pools. Lovely presented rooms with all you need and a balcony with table and chairs. The only thing I would change is put a lounger on balcony and brought the table and chairs inside. Very friendly helpful staff. This is very typical of Lanzarote buildings. Not your higher rise hotels which are not in keeping with traditional Lanza buildings. This was my first visit in over 25 years and it’s still as pretty. Shop is concur isn’t but expensive.
Just left today after a week I won’t be back there all seems nice enough, I stayed in 701 never gets any sun at any time of the day maybe just bad luck but having very little ventilation in studio mould on the ceiling through leakage from above very out dated we won’t be back no expel air system you have shower everything ends up damp health hazard in my opinion
Having read the reviews I was anxious but this place is lovely ! A very clean and well equipped 2 roomed villa facing the pool , had my morning coffee on my balcony in the sun , there is a kettle , byo tea and coffee . The shower is excellent , there is a hairdryer and fridge . Towels are very lovely and cleaning daily except weekends . There is a small supermarket on site for milk , water etc . This is a perfect place for solo self catered base, 10 mins walk to the main promenade which has all the restaurants and shops . Great value at £650 for Jan winter sun !! 🌞
It's french based which is ok but not if your not french it's as simple as tht
Depending on what kind of holiday you are looking for, and what your expectations are, this place is perfect.
Looking for an all inclusive with a party atmosphere, constant noise and all day entertainment? This hotel is not for you.
Wanting some sunshine and just need a base for your exploring? Looking for somewhere comfortable, clean, quiet and close to amenities? Then look no further.
As a solo traveller I was apprehensive about booking, I read the reviews and most negativity seemed to be around the food so opted for room only. Was given a ground floor room, close to the reception and pool, classed by jet2 as a "junior suite". The room is very spacious with separate sleeping and living areas, and a large bathroom with a fantastic shower. Yes the water spreads a bit when you use it, but I just put a towel down at the outside of the shower.
The hotel isn't luxurious or fancy, but it's set in lovely well established gardens and the staff I spoke to were all very polite and helpful. The room has been cleaned every day, and when I had an issue with my safe, someone from maintenance came to fix it within 10 minutes. Wi-Fi is free, as is the safe (first time ever I haven't had to pay extra for those).
If you go looking for problems, you'll find them. Yes there are some cracked and broken tiles, yes there are small patches of mould or peeling paint, but I'm not on holiday to focus on such minor details. I found the bed very comfortable, I can reach the main coastal path in ten minutes, and the choice of places to eat around the resort is so plentiful I'm glad I'm not committed to eating at the hotel.
Other reviews mentioned the noise, so I packed earplugs just in case. Due to being near the pool there's a constant 'hum' from the filters, and last night I could faintly hear the nearby nightlife, but wasn't disturbed by it.
Overall, if you are looking for a good location for cheap, you can't go wrong with booking "room only" at this hotel. I will definitely be back.
Poor hotel! We booked anyway despite the poor reviews just to try it and make our own decisions! Wish we never bothered and waisted our money!
Not a 4 star… pushing to be a 3
Very rude staff, no help and definitely need to go on a smile course!
Rooms are very basic, our room was full of mould, bathroom kept flooding in to the living room. Drains were blocked! Reported to reception.
Rooms were not cleaned every day and we had to keep asking for clean towels. Asked for a low level room as we have a disabled child but got given a room with 4 steps up! Hotel is not disabled friendly!
Location 20 mins walk from beach
Poor facility
Pools are absolutely freezing and not clean
Stayed one week all inclusive . Very disappointed. No nighttime entertainment or daytime entertainment. Snacks were only hot dogs no sauces and crepes. Nothing else to eat in the day time. Food in restaurant was just okay. Lights didn't work outside our steps to our room. The room was very cold and damp. The bed wasn't great and the sheets were all pulled.. No atmosphere at all in the place. The staff were not friendly especially the receptionist he was very abrupt talking to customers. I can't understand how this is sold as a 4 star hotel.. Management need to employ more staff and train them to be polite and smile. The person working at the pool bar had to go between the bar and the crepe van which left people standing waiting to be served when there should have been more staff on. Only one barman in the upstairs bar was friendly. I would not holiday there again.
Location, long walks to the nearesr shops and bars
Atmosphere, dull and weary
Rooms, poorly equiped, no coffee, sugar or tea packets desipte the hotel saying they are in the room, one room has mould on the walls due to no ventilation
Value, not worth all inclusive, poor selection of food in the restaurants and luke warm.
Cleanliness, very good
Noise levels, virtually non
Sevice, poor to say the least one person on the bar no matter how busy it got.
Ameneties, poor one bar and snack truck serving 2 pools.
Pools, were freezing alobg with the childs pool
Snack bar, hot dogs and crepes and thats it, no ice cream for children, no fries no burgers
Overall this hotel is at best pushing 3 stars not worth the money stay away
We just got back from our Christmas break and stayed in one of the suites. The hotel grounds are lovely and well kept and that is a major plus but sadly lot of things I read in the reviews are true. The pools are freezing and our room had some serious mould (see the pics), the rooms are cleaned almost daily, clean towels and for deposit you can get beach towels. The reception area is very dated but do not mind that. It was the mould that I have issue with. Also some morning we would have a small pool of water under the window (not sure how that happened). The food and the drinks are also not a good quality and glad we first tried (as I read the reviews) and paid for breakfast. Family of four for breakfast was 64 £ and not tasty at all. The coffee is not great and the drinks neither but luckily Playa Blanca has incredible restaurants. When I wanted to upgrade I was told it is 72 Euros per person a day which I do not think is adequate of the quality sadly. There has been also lot of very different information from the staff. e.g on pricing of the food and where to pay so not very much in sync. Overall we had a great time in Playa Blanca and if THB does some serious changes it has potential.
We are just leaving after a 7 day stay. The place is spotless and kept that way. That’s a massive plus. Rooms are fine yes a little dated but comfy. We were B&B and I am so pleased that’s all we paid for. The breakfast was not the best we lived on toast for 6 days. The rest of the breakfast didn’t look the best. The coffee machines were empty more than full. The “fresh “ orange was warm and not fresh at all. The pools are freezing and in the 7 days we didn’t see anyone cleaning them like other hotels we have stayed in. The staff are friendly and the supermarket is fab and not expensive either. The bar is like sitting in a class room no atmosphere at all.
Would we be back I don’t think so. The food lets it down massively and like I said I would be really upset if we had paid for AI.
I really liked this hotel. 8 nights solo trip for a well earned rest.
Like many of the older hotels on the island, it's a bit shabby and the drains smell, but it's not selling itself as luxury and is priced in the budget range. The housekeeping in the rooms and grounds is outstanding which made the whole place feel cared for and raised the standard above other hotels in the age range.
The pool and garden areas are gorgeous. 2 main pools, kept immaculately clean. It's laid out in a lovely village plaza-like feel with full grown trees and shrubs. Plenty of sunbeds with parasols with loads of choice within the lovely rambling plaza. My 2nd floor room had a separate bedroom and 2 balconies. Both twin beds are on the firm side, but that suited me so I had a great sleep.
My only issue was on the first night, I realized I was across the Plaza from the disco. I hadn't expected it to be so noisy. Max in reception engaged with the issue and worked hard to find a room that would suit me better. In the end I liked my room so much I decided to watch tv with headphones until the entertainment finished - which wasn't too late. I did appreciate the effort to make my stay as comfortable as possible. The free wifi was good enough to stream movies, so even when I ran out of downloads I was good for stuff to watch on a tablet.
I had breakfast included. The cooked breakfast was OK. Nice range of fresh yogurts, dried and fresh fruit, breads, pastries, meat and cheese.
10 minutes walk takes you to the first of 3 nice beaches. Another 10 minutes along the promenade to the marina.
All staff were cheerful and friendly.
I'll definitely return here for my annual solo break.
