The hotel staff was great - best hotel in Cuenca. Edison was very helpful and the food was excellent as well..
We will return to this hotel
The hotel is in a convenient location to a variety of restaurants & is within walking distance to the park that follows the Tomabamba River. The hotel staff is professional, friendly, and welcoming. Wilson Ortiz immediately put me at ease when I checked in and made sure I was put in a room that was quiet and amenable to working on-site. No problems with the internet!
I was so impressed with the friendliness of the entire Oro Verde staff. Given I was on an extended solo work trip, the warmth & responsiveness of the staff made my stay a stress free and enjoyable experience.
We had a fabulous time at Hotel Oro Verde. The hotel is extremely clean and well appointed.
The dining was excellent and the service was amazing.
We had some drink at the bar and Louis the bartender is amazing. He made his own special version of Baileys, and let me tell you it was way better than the original.
The general manager Byron was fantastic and extremely friendly.
We highly recommend this hotel and please stop by and ask Louis for his drink…L’Andes Cream!
Oro Verde Cuenca is a good hotel with a solid foundation. The rooms are quiet and clean, and the staff provides great service. However, there are several significant areas that require improvement:
· The wet area facilities (sauna/steam room) were out of order.
· The airport transfer service uses very old vehicles.
· The gym is shared with people who are not hotel guests, which compromises exclusivity.
· The pool is outdoors and unheated. Since Cuenca's climate is quite cold, it's often unusable and uncomfortable.
· The food and beverage prices are too high for the limited options and quality offered.
· They do not award Oro Verde loyalty points if you request an invoice under a different name or tax ID.
We have stayed at the Oro Verde twice now. Once, as an exploratory trip and another to look for a home. This hotel is phenomenal. Everyone from the manager to the detail-oriented housekeeping staff members were all helpful, polite, friendly, and gracious. They assist those who are not Spanish-speaking and do anything they can to make you comfortable. We would stay here again and again and would always recommend this beautiful hotel.
I stayed here with family for a destination wedding. The service we received from the staff was amazing. Someone was always available and they were eager to assist me with any needs imaginable. The hotel was immaculately clean and the food was outstanding! I stayed for a week and many of the staff acknowledged me by name, which, made me feel important. I do not speak Spanish but communication was never an issue as nearly all the lobby staff spoke English. The hotel is quite modern and has all of the amenities you could want. The taxi ride to the center of town was only $2.00-$2.50. Overall it was a memorable experience and I left feeling that I had made friends.
Hotel staff is exceptionally helpful and accommodating. Jose Luis the bellman was kind and attentive. If you’re looking to stay in Cuenca this is a great & affordable hotel. Rooms are spacious and comfortable. Uber and taxis are a short ride to the downtown area so the hotel is conveniently located.
We went with a Gate 1 travel tour group. The hotel was very nice and clean. After we checked in reception called to make sure everything is ok and let them know if anything is needed. Overall we had a good experience.
Good staff and clean room
Ok
Oro Verde is so fantastic. My pregnant fiancée and I stayed there before and after our baby was born because we live 2 hrs away. The entire hotel staff treated us with such care. They also surprised use with a cute llama doll for my baby and chocolate and fruit plate for us. They also helped my fiancée move around the hotel in a wheelchair which was so helpful. We were so appreciative and thankful for the great, super above and beyond service. I can't recommend this hotel enough.
Clean room
.
I have stayed a couple of times at this hotel. I love how luxurious it is. Its lobby is fully remodeled. Best is breakfast and in-room comfort. Since it’s at the very entrance of Cuenca, its proximity to El Cajas national park makes it very cold at night. I never use sweaters inside a room but I had to because it was really cold. They do have some floor warming system that I tried to use but couldn’t go around it and didn’t call the front desk for help, so my bad. I think it’s the most luxurious hotel in Cuenca but it’s the farthest from main attractions (except for El Cajas) and if you’re traveling for business you’re commuting far longer than other hotels to your meetings. I can highlight the service and the free hotel transfer in and out. Definitely recommended it if you’re looking for leisure rather than proximity. Definitely would stay!
We have been on numerous tours with this company. This is the first time I am giving a bad review to one of the hotels. Drive up and first impressions are great. And breakfast is excellent. However numerous issues in the room. My wife used the hair dryer in the bathroom the first night and flames shot out of the electrical outlet. The surge protector shut it down. Then we noticed several outlets in the room were not very secure. The maintenance man came up quickly and replaced the outlet in the bathroom but had no more for the room. The shower floor is dangerously slick. Only one hook to hang a bath town or piece of clothing in the bathroom. Very odd water attachment location in the bathroom. See picture. Some trim peeling off the wall. The facet in the bathroom sprays water if turned up too much. On top of all of this they leave all the doors to the outside open in the lobby area. It was 50 degrees outside this morning so the lobby felt like lows 60’s. Everyone walks around in coats even when eating.
The service by Edisson at the hotel restaurant, Altitude, Oro Verde Hotel, is excellent! He is friendly and speaks English very well. Good for him.
The hotel itself is excellent in every way. However, Edison (waiter at the breakfast service) was outstanding! Very positive and energetic with an abundance of enthusiasm!
Comfortable accommodations. It was very cold and rainy during our visit to Cuenca, having heat in the room was very important and welcome!
The hotel is in a great area, restaurants are all around walking distance. Excellent location
The facility was exceptionally clean and well maintained. Staff was well informed and very professional and we were given the best of attention to all our needs. The breakfast bar was by far the most extensive and well equipped. A five star establishment
