Tucked away overlooking the sea yet within a short walking distance of the beach and town.Beautiful rooms, really friendly staff and despite what some other reviewers thought,I found the the food was excellent-great choice every day.Really clean rooms, lovely pool area and a great bar/cafe with friendly and helpful staff-would defo recommend this hotel
Honest and Fair Review
We stayed here the first week of March, weather wasn't good but that can't be helped.
This is not what I would class as a 4 star hotel, I have stayed in many over the years and this defiantly did not reach 4 star standards.
The hotel itself is beautiful and the views spectacular.
It is at the top of a steep hill which anyone with walking difficulties would find hard to managed, we often walked down but then got a taxi back up, about £3.95 euro from the main strip.
We had a sea view suite and part of the my favourite club, the room was lovely, very spacious and cleaned daily, the maids were very friendly.
Water was not replenished daily which I find strange and there were not water fountains or anywhere to refill our bottles, not what I could see anyway.
Food was less than average, hardly any choice at all and every day it was cold.
The pool area is very nice however, we were all inclusive and you cannot get hot food at the pool if the restaurant is open, if you want to pay for it then it is available, this I really found strange as if the kitchen is cooking anyway what is the difference, the restaurant is a good walk from the pool, when I settle down at the pool I like to stay there.
It was my birthday on the Wednesday so on the Monday we asked at reception to book for NUMBIA the al a cart, it is displayed all around the hotel that you get a discount, it is not advertised anywhere that you can have it as apart of your AI, we were happy to pay as it was for a special occasion however, we were told that it was fully booked for the night we wanted, disappointed I went onto their website and it allowed me to book on the day we wanted, when we arrived there were 2 other couples in the restaurant and us, that was it. No menus on the table?? we were just asked what meat we wanted meat of fish?? it turned out that it was part of the AI and at no point were we asked if we would like to full menu, this was really confusing not only for us but the other 2 couples also in the restaurant.
TV in our room was not a SMART TV, english channels yes but you could not connect to your other stuff which you usually can with SMART.
The main strip is beautiful and the sea amazing, shops are great.
Free bus to the shopping mal which was a bonus due to the bad weather.
I personally feel that as AI customers we were treated lesser than those paying, at the lobby bar those paying were treated to waiter service however, we were often ignored.
Entertainment was about the normal standard for AI.
We were on the 8th floor which was lovely.
Would I go back No, not for us standard of food and drink really poor and location a little out of it.
How this hotel is a 4* I do not know. Comparing this to, say a, 4* Barcelo is like comparing apples and onions. In fact there's no comparison!
Food: Basic. Mainly bland. Same things on repeat each night. Quite a few dishes mislabellled. Not enough replenished if later on during service.
Solo diner treated like a second class citizen. Extremely limited buffet at lunchtime. They remove the juices at breakfast at 9.30, despite service running until 10am!
Building: Tired, depressing long cold concrete corridors giving the feeling of a communist era building.
Room: Spacious, clean, but don't bother upgrading to sea view - view of orange concrete wall from patio (5th floor).
A couple of reviews from February mentioned horrible 'sewer' smell around the hotel, but this issue seems to have been fixed, apart from maybe the toilets by the restaurant.
Probably not quite there yet in terms of the finished article.
Pros
Clean
Tidy
Reasonable presentation
Breakfast reasonably good
Pools nice (two)
Pool bar drinks good, prices reasonable
Pool bar food again reasonable and prices ok especially for the burger and chips
Lovely restaurant down the slope which leads to the front (Baraka)
There are walks and shortcuts which make the walk up easier, a shopping centre nearby has escalators so go through that and up the escalators to the top and out the back and go right, follow the slope uphill find some steps, go to the top and turn right, you’ll eventually get back to the hotel.
Cons
Needs a bit of attention here and there, bathroom in particular had suffered with damp meaning could not close the door.
Walls are thin, you can hear next door.
Floors 5 and below would mean absolutely no view of anything.
Floor 6 limited views, especially mountain side.
Floor 7 is an upgrade and again really not spectacular views if your mountain side.
A road runs outside means quite noisy sometimes.
This hotel is quiet, remote and on top off a steep hill, food was not hot unless you got it off the grill or got pizza straight out the oven.
Rooms were very spacious and clean but need a bit of attention.
I would not take a holiday in Puerto Del Cruz as it is very quiet and hilly, plus weather is unreliable.
Ok north Tenerife and south Tenerife are completely different and I mean like 2 different countries, my recent visit to AluaSoul in Santa Cruz wasn’t great, the hotel mini suite was clean and comfortable but it needed to be because if you haven’t got a car or transport that’s were you’ll be spending most of your time, the attitude of the reception staff was arrogant and borderline rude, after heavy rain the whole hotel smelt really badly of rotten eggs, and believe me it rains a lot in the north February/March, this smell hangs heavy around the dining area unfortunately, the staff did spray air fresheners and lit josh sticks to make it smell more pleasant but it just seemed to irritate my breathing, I found the food pretty poor, it was pork, chicken or fish every night on the hot griddle but the pork was mostly inedible due to it being tough and grissly, I only ate at the hotel a couple of times due to the odour of the drains, I was all inclusive and was disappointed that I had to pay €25 a day to have my minbar stocked!! €50 to park my hire car on site and €75 to upgrade my room to one that I’d be happy in during my stay, got no complaints about the room itself that was clean and comfortable, wish they had a decent room service menu but room service is not offered, basically I turned up was told to pay an extra €75 so I’d be happy with my room, told that if I wanted to park my car in the onsite hotel parking it’s another €50 and even though I’m all inclusive €25 a day to put a couple of cokes beers and bottled water in my minibar, my advice to anyone staying at aluasol would be head south everyday, more sunshine and warmth, great beaches and great places to eat and drink just more of a holiday vibe!. Live n learn 👍🏻
We arrived at around 9:35pm after a long day of travelling, exhausted and looking forward to something to eat. Unfortunately, we were told that the restaurant had closed just five minutes earlier and there was no food available anywhere in the hotel — nothing at the bar and nothing saved for late arrivals. The receptionists simply suggested we download Uber Eats, which felt quite unreasonable given the circumstances.
On a positive note, the room itself was lovely. We had a suite which was very clean, spacious, and beautifully set out. We were really pleased with the accommodation.
The food in the restaurant was actually okay. It wasn’t outstanding, but it was perfectly decent and enjoyable enough during our stay.
However, the all-inclusive experience was disappointing. When we went to the bar, we felt like second-class guests because we were all-inclusive. It became apparent that guests who were not all-inclusive seemed to receive a better service.
More generally, the staff did not come across as particularly welcoming. There weren’t many smiles, and we didn’t feel especially valued as guests during our stay. The overall attitude felt quite indifferent at times, which was disappointing.
The entertainment was fairly average overall. The lady running it was very pleasant, but most evenings were quite dull. Carnival night was definitely the highlight, with external dancers brought in who were excellent and made the evening enjoyable.
The hotel itself was very quiet, which we appreciated. However, the pool was advertised as heated on the website, and it absolutely was not. It was freezing cold. I only managed to fully get in once because it was so uncomfortable, which was extremely disappointing as I really enjoy swimming.
To make matters worse, every day at around 2:30pm there was a terrible smell coming from the drains near the pool area. It was so strong and unpleasant that we had to physically move the loungers to the other side of the pool. This happened every single day.
Overall, while the room, the quiet atmosphere, and the decent restaurant food were positives, several aspects of the service and facilities were very disappointing and did not meet expectations.
There was a foul smell around the pool area and in our room, which was on level 1. I'd avoid staying on the lower levels if I was booking again. We were eventually able to change rooms, but no reasonable refund/ alternative was offered for the problem and it's very difficult to document a smell! Staff were aware of the problem but said it was "out of their control". I wouldn't book again.
Pretty good, the room smelled really bad. Coming from outside apparently. They appear to have an extractor in the bathroom but apparently these are not connected to anything. The room was changed to a better room and a bottle of sparkling wine and fruit as an apology. We would have checked out it was so bad. Staff were good. We would return. Plenty of local public parking.
Excellent hotel in a superb location. Very friendly and professional staff from reception, room service and restaurant. The food was first class with a wide choice at breakfast and dinner. I stayed in a Club Suite and appreciated the Club Room where there was a great selection of drinks and snacks. Would highly recommend the hotel
We booked our holiday with Jet2 Holidays and were allocated Room 4005 at check-in. The receptionist’s reaction when handing me the room key — a noticeable shrug of the shoulders — immediately suggested there might be an issue with our room.
Our room was located two floors down at the end of a very long, hospital-like corridor, which already felt unwelcoming. Upon entering the room, we were immediately faced with a six-foot wall completely enclosing the balcony, offering no view whatsoever and rendering the outdoor space unusable despite the presence of a table and chairs. Additionally, the patio door did not slide properly and felt as though it might come off its runner, which raised concerns about maintenance. The room was just depressing.
We returned to reception straight away to ask if there was any possibility of moving rooms, especially given the amount we had paid for the weeks stay. We were told this was not possible as the hotel was supposedly fully booked. However, upon checking the Booking.com website shortly after speaking to reception, it would appear rooms were available, which was confusing and concerning. I returned back to room 4005 sat in the living room chair with my partner and contemplated our options on day 1 of 7. I immediately booked a taxi via reception and booked easyJet flights and flew home on day 2. This hotel is dismal and depressing. Food was deplorable. Woke in the middle of the night feeling dehydrated which would suggest everything eaten was high in salt.
Overall, the hotel felt soulless and lifeless, with a very strange and uncomfortable atmosphere throughout our stay.
Pool uninviting. Gym equally uninviting. If you could call it a gym.
Tip: do not even bother. Pay better money somewhere else. It would suggest a 4 star but I would not even give it 2.
Very nice and quiet location, it is an old hotel but the staff keeps it very clean ,beautiful views on the both sides of the hotel very friendly and helpful staff.
Sadly I cannot recommend this hotel and will never go back to this hotel or any other hotel in the Alua chain. A holiday ruined.
beautiful hotel food staff were very helpful and friendly. the food was also good lots of options and all tasty especially the fresh grilled meats and fish.
the pool area very clean not to busy.
i had a suite it was very spacious and modern.
only thing for me personally was it was too quiet no atmosphere mainly aimed for the other older generation.
hill is a killer when walking up but taxi back from town only €6.
Don't use hotel if you like nice food. This hotel serves bland and overcooked food. The drainage system is rank the rooms stink and when sitting by the pool you get the occasional overpower stench from the drains.
I found this hotel to be poor both in quality and delivery i.e I found the food very basic with the desserts all tasting the same with a chemically taste and the same night after night. The main courses were limited and their show style cooking was poor and basic i.e burgers which were barely ccoked.
The Spanish staff portray an obvious dislike to the British even when you try and speak their language. We booked all inclusive and half of the items I.e cocktails are not included. We also booked my favourite club which is basically a waste of money as you don't really get any different service. The hotel is situated up a steep hill 15 to 20 minutes from the centre where there are alot of good hotels right next to the sea and where I would stay on my next visit to Puerto de ls cruz. I certainly wouldn't recommend this Hotel and having stayed here I wouldn't recommend Hyatt hotels or any of their Hotels in their group if this one is anything to go by.
Ist impression on arrival was it’s a bit out of the way and on a very steep hill, only a 15 minute walk into town but a taxi back, they do hotel shuttle service but not on Saturday or Sunday the 2 nights we stayed, hotel reception were excellent special mention to Gabriella who was very helpful with my requests.
We found the bed very firm so asked for a mattress topper which was delivered and set up within minutes, we had a sea view suite at a very reasonable rate but wish we’d of chosen a Mountain View as that’s the side that gets the sun so if you like sitting on your balcony in the sun go for a Mountain View if you prefer the shade get the sea view as we were only there for 2 nights we didn’t bother to ask to change, but I’m sure they would of arranged this if we asked.
Breakfast was very busy on both mornings we had favourites club so you get your own section but on both mornings there were other guests using the area, staff did point out o them that they were in wrong section but were let to stay. There are signs pointing out the the tables are reserved for favourites club guests but ignored very often.
The Orange juice included with the breakfast is probably the worst OJ I’ve ever had in a Spanish hotel. You can get a proper OJ for €3 which is very nice.
There is a egg and omelette station but on 3 occasions I tried getting over easy fried eggs but couldn’t get it across to the staff properly not their fault mine I know, I should of used my google translator.
We didn’t use other eating options so can’t comment,
We did use the bar which was very nice with reasonable prices, we only used it one night and only had 3 drinks between us but on check out there were an extra 8 wines on our bill, so something obviously went wrong or someone else was putting drinks on our room once we left. Hotel staff were excellent once again and charged for our drinks.
Staff sorted our transfer to Costa Adeje at a very reasonable Taxi cost.
Thanks again for a very comfortable stay
So I’ve just retuned from this hotel. Be warned it’s on a very steep hill. The beach is a 10 minute walk from here. The main town centre is a good 1.5km walk. So be wary when booking. The food isn’t great either. It’s more aimed at German based holiday makers. Breakfast was okay. The room I couldn’t fault I had a teide view. Room was clean and spacious couldn’t fault that. I didn’t really spend much time around the pool. In all Puerto de la Cruz is much quieter than the south of the island.
We stayed in this hotel in November. There were so many mixed reviews before I went that I wasn't sure what to expect. The room we were allocated was on the 5th floor with a sea view. The view is more interesting than beautiful but we were happy with it. I would recommend a room on the 5th floor upwards. The room below us looked onto a wall and lower floors are in a separate block. Our room was spacious, modern and kept very clean. At home I sleep badly but I had a good nights sleep all week. We both loved the firmness of the bed.
Food was a mixed bag. Good for traditional dishes and grilled meats and fish. Not so good for foods on themed nights, such as the oriental night. Drinks were ok, wine and beer quite good. We were all inclusive and branded drinks were not included. As part of the package we went to the a la cart which was a diasppointment. No menu just asked what wine we wanted and whether we wanted a main of fish or meat. A shame really becsuse if we had a good experience we may have gone back as paying customers.
The Entertainment Team work really hard but the nightly entertainment wasn"t great. We did enjoy the Two Tenors.
The hotel is located on a hill and a little out of town. This didn't bother us. To make it a little easier take the lifts down to the first floor or come out of the hotel turn left and follow the path that crosses the hill. The good thing about being on the hill is the views of Mount Teide. Personally I wouldn't like be in the centre of the resort.
When we visited there were vey few Brits the majority of holiday makers being German and Deutch. Which was absolutely fine and the vibe was good.
There are changes to this hotel which could have made our stay better. However we still had relaxing and enjoyable week in the sun.
Lovely hotel in an decent location, would recommend a room on the upper floors. Pool area small but fine. Majority of staff pretty rude, treat all inclusive like 2nd class citizens, you get a free meal at the restaurant which is not up to much. Food main buffet pretty good. Rooms clean but maids dont change sheets daily. Weird pool menu with about 3 AI meals the rest have to be paid for which are supremely better than the AI ones. Barmen at pool with glasses is rude. Value for money isn't greatest considering. Entertainment mediocre at best. Atmosphere chill.
