the staff are genuinely nice people and I like them very much.
Could be worse, but not terrible.
WiFi is not working inside the hotel. The signal is not penetrating inside rooms.
The rooms are not clean.
Plutôt bien placé avec un prix intéressant.
on nous annonce un lit double dans une grande chambre, il n’en n’ai rien du tout.
Et niveau propreté c’était pas vraiment ça.
If you want to give all of your belongings over and be locked out of the hotel and your room until they are ready to let you in the barred and locked front door. I have never stayed in a hotel that’s asks for the hotel key back every time you leave the building. They also ask that you leave your valuables at the front desk. The camera system in this hotel with the main screen looks like this place is watching everything in the building for some reason and you should be aware of your surroundings. This place is shady!!! The building had a health and safety code posting that chemicals in the building were known to cause cancer. This is also near the Tenderloin District. The doors are barred and locked and you have to wait for someone to let you in. No one ever answers the phone so imagine standing outside in a bad neighborhood waiting for someone to come open the door whenever they decide to. If that’s for you, this is your place. Look at the pictures and tell me you would want to stay here
worst neighborhood in downtown San Francisco. Staff was great and allowed early arrival. Heavy drug traff
A charming vintage property with polite and helpful staff. Don’t come here if you all the bells and whistles of a corporate chain; come here if you want to go back in time 100 years and bathe in a claw foot tub and show your kids what a pay phone looks like. Don’t worry, sheets are new and clean, towels are replaced daily, and it’s a comfortable stay. That said, San Francisco has a large unhoused population, and this neighborhood isn’t immune.
Hosts very helpful.
Me gustó el lobby, muy bonito
Con el paso de los años la calidad del hotel ha decaído y el precio no me parece adecuado al lugar
Terrible m.
Location, front of street room, two beds
Dead bugs in the tub. Didn't look clean. Wanted to take a bath but couldn't.
There was not car parking
My father and I stayed at the hotel for several days while visiting San Francisco. This hotel was a time capsule. We met the owner several times and he has done his best to keep the hotel in its original condition when it opened in 1912.
The hotel was clean, staff was friendly, and well managed. Outside the hotel was a bus stop and subway station.
If you are looking for a simple quaint hotel this fits the bill. Thanks
So easy from the airport on the BART train.
Friendly, welcoming staff.
I have stayed here many times, but it has been almost ten years since my last visit. The area around the hotel, Market Street, has further declined during these years, but even if there are a lot of homeless people and drug addicts in the streets, they just mind their own business and don't bother you. Market Street is a central location for exploring the city, and Civic Center Bart station is literally a minute away, with direct trains to the airport in 30 minutes.
The front door was locked, and they now keep it locked all the time, so you need to knock. I was soon welcomed in and quickly checked in by the friendly receptionist. The hotel felt very quiet but reception is manned 24/7 and they are very friendly.
My room was bare bones, but that was to be expected: a very small room with a queen size bed, a tv stand (with drawers), a closet and that's it. No chair, coffee table etc. No safe, no water bottles, no fridge. Wifi was reliable and quick. It did require log-ins several times daily, but the log-in process was easy. During my four-night stay, the room was not cleaned but it was clean on arrival albeit not very modern.
My room came with a bathroom (not all rooms do, so make sure you book accordingly). There was a shower cubicle with a wall-mounted showerhead with okay water pressure. Amenities included single-use bars of soap and shampoo.
There is no restaurant and no breakfast.
I would say the hotel is a two-star establishment, and fills two-star criteria just fine. I was happy with my choice – I knew what to expect and it is difficult to beat the price. I paid 61 euros a night, all taxes included.
