Unique hotel that offers a high class experience and is also very relaxed. Rooms are spacious and communal areas gorgeous. Staff are really great. The family feel is what makes this hotel magical. Location is also wonderful with town on your doorstep.
Garden
The "Mountain View" room was a terrible experience. It overlooks a hillside, but it's practically right next to a main road. If you want to breathe in traffic exhaust fumes, this is the perfect place. Of course, none of this is mentioned on the website. And a room like this can cost as much as €450 per night. It's outrageous!
Staying at Palazzo Belmonte felt like a true treat for both body and mind. It was the perfect escape from the pace of everyday life, a place where you can genuinely unwind. We loved the peace and tranquility of the gorgeous gardens, the sound of birdsong, and the beautifully preserved historic estate. Everything feels authentic, private, and exceptionally well maintained. It's a rare place that invites you to slow down and simply enjoy the moment. We can't wait to come back!
The quality of the room, as already described was not adequate for the price we paid. It was in an old, modern building on the ground floor, garden view but facing the high wall and the internal road. This meant that we needed to keep the shutters always closed. The breakfast also did not reflect the price. The juices offered where not fresh and the choises or pastries/cakes were limited and not of a high quality. Furthermore, to have a cokked breakfast there was an additional charge, which given the overall price was unacceptable. Finally, the whole environment gave a sense of neglect. The beach furnitures were not properly cleaned, while the life guard was sitting on his phone the whole time.
I booked 8 nights (around €375 per night). Standard room.
The palazzo has a very lovely park and a small private beach. Castellabate is very close by.
Nicht gefallen · Breakfast is served in lovely surroundings, but it’s barely adequate. More choice costs extra – and that at these room rates.
I was given a dark room with a shabby bathroom that smelled awful (like an ashtray). Airing it out didn’t help. My complaint to reception came to nothing. It wasn’t until three days before I left that I was given a lovely superior room, refurbished and odour-free.
That seems to me to be completely unacceptable compared to the price (and the long stay, payed in advance). It’s a shame they didn’t make an effort to rectify the problem straight away.
Great friendly staff, a great historic setting with superb large rooms.

There are hotels you enjoy, and then there are places that stay with you long after you've left. Palazzo Belmonte belongs firmly in the latter category. It is a truly special, magical place, and for me that comes down to three things.
First, the property itself is extraordinary. It feels less like a hotel and more like a private seaside estate, with a graceful palazzo set amid beautiful gardens that lead gently to the sea. There is an understated elegance and authenticity throughout, and a sense of calm that invites you to slow down and simply enjoy the surroundings.
Second, the location could hardly be better. Set directly by the sea, yet only a short stroll from the heart of Santa Maria di Castellabate, it offers the perfect balance of tranquility and authentic Italian life. Whether you're enjoying the beach, wandering through the charming streets, or exploring the surrounding coastline, everything feels effortlessly accessible.
Most of all, however, what makes Palazzo Belmonte exceptional is its people. The owners and every member of the staff embody a level of graciousness, warmth, and kindness that is increasingly rare. They don't simply provide outstanding hospitality—they make you feel genuinely welcomed, as though you are a guest in their home rather than a customer in a hotel.
The reception team deserves special recognition, especially Chiara and Flavia. They were unfailingly kind, endlessly patient, and seemingly tireless in helping us make the most of our stay. Whether arranging restaurant reservations, organizing visits to a mozzarella farm and to Santomiele—a remarkable fig farm and artisanal fig boutique—finding a particularly knowledgeable guide for Paestum, or securing a boat rental so we could explore the spectacular coastline around Capo Palinuro, nothing was ever too much trouble. Every recommendation was thoughtful, and every interaction was accompanied by genuine warmth and enthusiasm.
What struck me most during our stay was that the ancient Greek concept of philoxenia —the love of welcoming strangers—is not simply practiced at Palazzo Belmonte. It seems woven into the very DNA of the owners, the staff, and even the people of Santa Maria di Castellabate.
One afternoon we went looking for "Baffo," the gelateria everyone had recommended. We found it, only to discover it was closed. As we turned away, I noticed an elderly gentleman with a magnificent white mustache stepping out of his car nearby. On a hunch, I asked whether he happened to be Baffo. He smiled and said that he was. When he realized we had come specifically for his gelato, he apologized that the shop was closed—and then, without hesitation, offered to open it just for us. It was such a simple gesture, yet one that perfectly captured the generosity of spirit we encountered everywhere.
Palazzo Belmonte is a beautiful place to stay. It is a place that reminds you that true hospitality is a cultural inheritance. In the shadow of Paestum's temples, philoxenia is not an archaeological relic—it is a living tradition. We cannot wait to return.
The Palazzo Hotel is an absolute gem and delight. It is a boutique hotel wrapped up in a historic building and which has been in the same family for an extraordinary number of years. It sits right on the edge of a village and is on a beach which feels manageably unbusy and enjoyable. We were a group of eight: two parents, three adult daughters in their late twenties, and their respective partners. It was a wonderful week in which we were able to share as a family, laugh, eat well, and relax. There was a little bit of everything for each age group and generation, whether that be pool time, beach time, nightlife, or exploring the area.
Historic Greek ruins are a short drive away, as are other villages and towns and a large natural park area. The rooms are attractive, comfortable, simple but full of creature comforts. Everything was very clean. The noise level was low, and the service which was provided was of a first-class nature.
The hotel is a bed-and-breakfast proposition with a good but limited lunch option as well, an open bar and area by the pool and beach. It was extremely pleasant and predictably good and straightforward. The hotel is privately owned by a family, and this shows in the intimate nature in which the hotel is managed and the customers are looked after. We felt pampered and very well taken care of.

A wonderfully relaxing environment. The staff are attentive, efficient and helpful. Breakfast and lunch most enjoyable, with a sea view. Easy access to the town for an evening meal with a good variety of restaurants to suit all tastes. Highly recommend.
This was our first visit to Santa Marie di Castellabate and a 5 day stay at the Palazzo Belmonte. FANTASTIC! the staff and the Belmonte princesses were wonderful hosts. Highly recommend.

Struttura bellissima in ottima posizione
