This is a top class hotel and indeed I’m not sure why it’s 4 star as in my opinion it’s 5 star. Where do I start! Firstly the staff from cleaners, waiters, chefs, receptionist’s etc are all fantastic, they are all so friendly and helpful. We had a room with a sea view and what a view it was plus the facilities in the room are super. Loads of space and a great shower. It’s right on the beach and the promenade so in a perfect location. We were half board and the food choices at both breakfast and dinner were unbelievable good. This is just a flavour of how good this hotel is. If you are looking to stay in Calpe then you won’t go wrong staying at the SOLYMAR.

Location was great. Only a few minutes walk up the hill to the old town and about 20 minutes brisk walk to the end of the beach and the seafood restaurants/ market. Lots of lovely restaurants around if you head in a couple of streets back from promenade.
Room was lovely with sea view and very big balcony with glass.
Bed huge and very comfy - was actually 2 single beds pushed together!
Bathroom had 2 showers and separate toilet.
Storage was adequate and there was a mini fridge and safe.
Breakfast buffet was great though as it’s spread out over a large area it takes a while to get everything you want! The egg station was fabulous though there was always a queue with the lady who managed it on her own doing a sterling job to get everyone served quickly.
Lots of fresh fruit, mixture of hot and cold food, cereal, pastries, cava and Bloody Mary stations to name just a few things on offer.
We ate in the restaurant one evening and paid €40 pp which we didn’t think was worth it. The food choice was large but perhaps pricing it at €30 would have put it more in line with what the quality of the food was worth, especially as drinks were extra. Lots of people were on half or full board though so it’s probably worth it if you go for this option.
However, there are so many other restaurants around where the price was less or similar for the entire meal I’m glad we didn’t do this.
The private pool area is lovely. Lots of sunbeds though it was busy in May. Being an adults only hotel means it’s very relaxed and quiet. Infinity pool overlooking sea and beach was lovely. They offer free sunscreen and use of towels too. Bar area was good with range of drinks and food. There is also a smaller pool on the 10th floor.
Bar area inside the lobby was large and had music every evening.
Will definitely be returning to the hotel!

Just returned from a 4 night stay in this fabulous hotel. One of the nicest hotels I have stayed in. Will definitely be returning. Thank you Solymar for a truly wonderful experience.
