Great location just next to Perugia. Perfect for a couple of nights to explore Umbria. A beautiful view of Perugia. A small but well-kept garden. An open-air hot tub is a great idea, especially at sunset. Own restaurant open for dinner is a big plus, we had a delicious meal. Decent hot breakfast. Lovely welcoming staff.
Overall, the castle was more of a disappointment.
First, we didn’t realize how “authentic” it was, with small dark rooms, heavy old sparse furniture, low ceilings and tiny windows. We moved rooms and can recommend Chiave due to its square layout, slightly more light and a small own terrace.
Also, we had the impression that the place was a bit neglected. Water that wouldn’t drain from the sink, tired furniture in the rooms and public spaces (not by design, it seems), a Turkish bath that was lukewarm. Limited amenities. Hard mattresses and pillows. Overall, it was more of a 3-star experience.
Finally, we would prefer a more subtle interior design.

Fairytail castle!
It’s really dreamy, right from a fairy tale. The view of Umbria is to die for. The garden around the castle is lovely too.
You definitely need a car to get there, we rented one, so it was no problem.
My wife says it was like stepping into a fairy tale. The castle and its furnishings and decor could not have been better. The view of their property and that of Perugia were picture perfect! The food at their restaurant was wonderful! Be sure to make at least one reservation during your stay! The espresso and the drinks at the bar were excellent, as well.
I really disliked having to leave for Rome. I could have spent our entire trip at Castello Di Monterone.
Alles sehr schön und detailreich hergerichtet.
