Authentic Turkish Experience!
Pros:

Right in the centre of the old town and close to the pazar markets. Location is perfect. Everything is within walking distance. A very authentic experience of the Ottoman way of life. Thank you to the staff who attended to our every need, we appreciate your kindness!!

Cons:

The location is based on a hill which can be difficult for some people to walk. The accomodation has a new cafe / bar at night which can be slightly noisy at times until 10pm- not a big issue however just be aware.

This was an incredible place to stay! The room looked absolutely stunning and the location was perfect for exploring everything during our short trip. Breakfast in the garden was a real highlight, both relaxing and truly luxurious. I traveled with my small dog and we felt welcomed everywhere on the premises

Safranbolu is an UNESCO city and this hotel has a 220 years old historic building, and promise a squeaking wooden floor. We booked 5 rooms that our group occupied the entire historic mansion. Every room is different in configuration and full of the culture of its golden old days. The hotel manager Hasan greeted us at the door upon our arrival. He and the house lady Safiye served us a beautiful breakfast in the hotel garden. Their hospitality, the hotel and the township of Safranbolu do entire us a future return to this peaceful town.

Disappointed by Poor Service Despite Beautiful Location
Pros:

The location was excellent, and the historic nature of the building over 400 years old was charming. We had hoped this would be one of the best accommodations in the area, but sadly, we had to leave early because we simply did not feel comfortable.

Cons:

We were very excited to visit Safranbolu and chose this hotel based on its historic charm and excellent reviews. Unfortunately, our experience did not match our expectations.

Upon arrival, we were surprised to find the hotel nearly empty of staff. Only one person was present, frequently disappearing and unable to assist us properly. Despite being the only guests, our group was given rooms on separate floors, and none of the rooms had functioning heat. There were no instructions provided for Wi-Fi, breakfast, or property rules. The staff member did not speak English, and although we used translation apps, communication remained difficult.

The Wi-Fi never worked for us, and the room was extremely cold. Noise from the street was constant, and we could not rest at all after a long drive. When we returned to the hotel at 10:30 PM, the doors were locked, and we had to call the property using a working phone line to Turkey—something not all travelers may have access to.

The next morning, we shared our concerns and were met with a defensive attitude. Instead of apologizing, the owner told us we had simply “booked the wrong property” because we were unhappy. We also noticed cleanliness issues: spiderwebs in the cups, and even a cockroach on the bed. It was evident the rooms had not been checked or properly prepared for our stay.

Although we only stayed one night out of our two-night reservation, we had to waste time contacting Booking.com from the hotel lobby to secure a refund. The management could have made the process easier, but instead made us feel uncomfortable and unwelcome.
