With a struggle to access the hotel due to local by-laws shutting down these streets on weekends, our mood was raised on entering reception as you merge into an authentic, period building of serious historical significance. The room was large, clean and spacious, the breakfast offerings were varied and fresh. Shutting the roads around the hotel worked in our favour .... it just so happens that the medieval courtyards surrounding the hotel were therefore quiet and peaceful - with plenty of restaurants to choose from. How do you get around the frustrations of weekend road closures? ..... ring reception and they'll run down a guide to help you out! Impressive.
