Great location, friendly staff and very good breakfasts.
Pros:

The Vulcan is in an excellent location, an easy walk to Darling Harbour. The staff were wonderful, very friendly and helpful with enquiries. We both enjoyed the breakfasts which had variations from day to day, so there was no getting bored with the offerings. We will stay here again on our next visit to Sydney.

Pros:

Cool hideaway close to everything but a relaxed old world feel. Quirky compared to generic offers in the same price range.

Cons:

Nothing.

Pros:

The room was clean and well-equipped. The building itself has a lot of character, being an older structure. The air conditioning was essential, especially during the warm and humid Sydney nights. The breakfast was excellent, with a wide variety of options.Plus, the location is super convenient, close to buses and the light rail.

Lovely boutique hotel.
Pros:

We stayed at the Vulcan Hotel for 4 nights. We were originally allocated a tiny room with a huge fireplace which made it nearly impossible to get out of bed at one side. On asking to be moved, we were promptly given an alternative room which was great. Very powerful shower, comfortable bed and great air con. The breakfast was buffet style, continental and have offered plenty of choice. Only downside was the WiFi which was very weak in both rooms we stayed in. Staff were friendly and helpful. Location is great as close to trams, trains and buses.

It was different and very close to where we needed to be.

Cons:

We liked it a lot. Perhaps breakfast could be more exciting. Great coffee though.

A good hotel for a short break
Pros:

The hotel was great, clean and in a good location. The new room was a good size. The bed was comfortable and the air conditioning was great and necessary. The breakfast was plentiful.

Cons:

The first room we were given was too small, really more of a single, my parter had to squeeze past the fireplace to get out of bed. We spoke to reception about it on our first morning and were immediately moved. Why give us that room in the first place?
