Hotel Girassol - Suite Hotel

We’ve had an absolutely lovely time at this hotel. We have no complaints. It’s in a fantastic location, quiet peaceful area. Our room was a good size and it was cleaned everyday. No complaints with the food, always a decent amount of options and always enjoyable. The staff were great especially the pool/bar staff and the dinner staff. We found the night time manager to be a lot more approachable than the day time. However it the effort made to get everyone on the roof for the fireworks was really nice. We will definitely be returning and are already looking forward to coming back. Thank you for a lovely stay.

This hotel is a hidden gem in Madeira. We had passes this hotel many times during our multiple trips to the island. An opportunity arose on jet2 webb site and we booked for one week. We were delighted with our choice. From the front staff,hospitality at its highest. Nothing was too much bother. Food was delicious,drinks were plentiful and the extra bonus was the 2 libraries. Thank you for a lovely stress free holiday and we hope to return soon

We stayed for the 9 th time ( in 3 years ).. we celebrated my birthday here which was so lovely.. I really appreciated the lovely cake on the day 🎂 ..
We always look forward to our stay here with the lovely staff and comfortable room , it’s our home from home .. nothing is too much if you need anything.. We love staying at the Girassol and wouldn’t stay anywhere else ..

Had a lovely week in Madeira staying at the Hotel Girassol. Reception staff were helpful, restaurant/bar staff attentive and cleaning staff did a great job, although most of the time they did it without us even seeing them. Bed and pillows great.
Rooms were a lovely size and having the bedroom and living room aspect was really nice. Bathroom was a good size and nice having a bath and lovely big sink. We were on the 11th floor facing Funchal so had fab views as well.
Food in the restaurant was well stocked, although have been used to a bit more choice in the evening. But saying that, always had a lovely meal and Portuguese wine was beautiful. All in all a great stay, so thank you Girassol team.

Good enough for the price but there are issues that need to be addressed So won’t return
Carpets in public areas ( corridors worn and dirty )
Meals “ok” not a lot of choice and not always warm enough
Rooms basic but clean
Pool area needs a spruce up
Always enough loungers
Senior pool attendant acts like a gestapo
Luckily he wasn’t there for last two days
He’s the talk of the poolside with his attitude
I asked for a coffee at 10:55 and was reminded like a school child that “all inclusive” was 11:00 !
He guards the towels in a locked cupboard
He’s very rude
The younger lads & ladies are lovely
He needs telling
He was here last year so he obviously gets away with his rudeness & attitude
The dinning room staff are lovely too
The room maid obviously works very hard
The rooms are spotless every day

It’s 25 minutes walk into the centre of Funchaul and €2 bus ride back as it’s up hill
Not great for kids I wouldn’t think as it’s mainly older people

Hotel amenities, food, location all very good
Staff very friendly and helpful. Would definitely go back to the Girrasol again if we were returning to Madeira. Would also recommend this hotel to friends and family. It is located just a short bus ride from centre of Funchal, peaceful, near the Lido and esplanade, just a very short few minutes walk. Loved having a suite - luxury to have a bedroom and sitting room. Excellent value for money.

We really enjoyed our holiday in Madeira at this hotel. The highlights were definitely the wonderful staff, who were always welcoming, and the lovely food, which we looked forward to every day. A special thanks to the kitchen staff, Felipe, Salik, and Hugo, for making such great food for us! The rooms could do with a bit of a better deep clean, but it didn't ruin our experience. We left feeling very happy with our stay and would come back again!

Great location, excellent rooms and facilities. Great breakfast and all the staff were really friendly. Would recommend and will stay there again.

This was our 3rd trip to Madeira and so far the best for location,value and service. Girassol is ideal for families and couples alike. We were all inclusive and loved the service. The food is lovely and varied including theme nights (Madeiran,Italian,Brazilian etc). The staff are very friendly and helpful. Entertainment was good in the bar and the drinks were also good. Our second floor suite was comfortable and clean with a good front balcony. Girassol is very close to local Spar shops and also Pingo supermarket and more importantly it's a relatively short walk to town. All in all I highly recommend the Girassol Suite hotel. We loved it so much that we have booked again for two months time, our wedding anniversary

The staff are wonderful, rooms are clean and tidy and well maintained. Food is very nice, good value and caters to a wide range of options. You are also in a very central location so a nice walk after dinner is a must.
The atmosphere in the bars and restaurants are great and the pools allow adults a separate space to kids if they aren’t away with their own little ones! Jet2 said there might be noise from hotel across the road building but we don’t experience any issues at all. I would 100% recommend

On the whole my stay at the Girassol was very good. The proximity of the hotel was only a short walk from town but had an abundance of shops and bars/cafes all around the hotel. The staff were incredibly friendly and very keen to help. There's entertainment a couple of times during the week. The food is a bit hit and miss, with great breakfasts, a very acceptable lunch menu by the pool, but the evening meal was a little underwhelming on occasion. I found the restaurant wine good value and the drinks in the bar areas didn't strike me as excessive.The pool was excellent with a choice of adult or family swimming. My room was spacious and it was nice to have tea/coffee making facilities in there. However, the furnishings were a little tired with a wardrobe that had its doors hanging off and a bathroom that could've done with updating but the hotel was very clean and everywhere was kept very tidy.

The Hotel Girassol surpassed our expectations. It was our first time to Madeira so were not sure about the location. It was easy to walk into the centre of Funchal and on a bus route. The hotel was very welcoming on arrival and check in was efficient. The reception staff were very helpful for the whole of our stay. Our room was amazing being a junior suite with a lounge area and extremely comfortable beds. There was an added bonus of having a bath which was appreciated after walking and climbing hills. The hotel was spotless inside and around the pool area. There was no loud music and the pools were very clean. Our room was cleaned every day and towels changed regularly. We were only bed and breakfast but the breakfast had every choice possible. We also had snacks at the pool bar which were really good and not over-priced. I would highly recommend this hotel and the staff should be commended. They all appeared to enjoy working there which came across with their pleasant attitude.

We have been to the Girassol 4 times now and will be going again in October. We always feel relaxed and welcome.
The staff are always pleasant and helpful and the hotel is very clean. Also it's surrounded by some good restaurants and Also the Irish bar is less than 5 minutes away.

What a wonderful stay at Hotel Girassol from start to finish. Atmosphere was lovely, very welcoming and felt very safe.
My suite on the 11th floor had a sea view and I couldn't have been happier.

Very nice stay in Girassol Hotel, location is nice, hotel is new, elevator maybe small but room is clean and very new, breakfast was good too.
