Nice staff, good english and very accomodating. Nice pools and breakfast was plenty and good variety.
Not so clean floors, refrigerator wasnt working. Gym very small.
נקי מאוד, ארוחת בוקר טובה ועשירה, שרות טוב
המיקום לא משהו, המלון לא נראה כמו בתמונות, במיוחד המתקנים
👍

Servicio .
This is a pleasant hotel but probably not worthy of 4 star rating. 4 stars at one time would have been luxury but you probably need 6 or more for luxury now.
Staff - all very friendly and helpful at reception , restaurant and bar
Rooms - we had a junior suite . The rooms are quite basic but clean . The separate room is useful. No tv in the bedroom which is unusual for suite hotels. This does not bother us but some guests might expect this. Tea and coffee supplied in room on day 1 but is not replenished once used . Toiletries supplied but only one bottle hand wash (fine) , shower just has a combined shampoo/ body wash. I don’t agree with small bottles in hotels so no objection to the bottles fitted to walls but it would be nice to see shampoo and body wash separate. Note no body lotion or conditioner so guests need to supply their own. Hairdryer is one attached to walls but which needs to have the button held at all times when drying hair.
The bathroom felt a little tired with need of an upgrade
Beds comfortable and wardrobe space fine
Restaurant- buffet is ok but nothing special. Reasonable selection at breakfast, dinner normally 4 choices of main dishes . Good selection of salads. All inclusive drinks were ok and there is always an option to pay extra for branded drinks
Bars - had entertainment most nights . Nice seating area on first level and 2 libraries, plenty of books to choose
Swimming pool - did not use but seemed ok
Overall a reasonable hotel and popular
Brilliant! Loved the Girassol Suite Hotel and its location. Really helpful staff always with a smile. Buses and taxis into Funchal really cheap and on the doorstep. Walking down into Funchal is fun but walking back can be arduous for 80 year olds like us, only did it once, but when there is no need as previously stated buses and taxis are plentiful. Loved Madeira, Thankyou for a wonderful holiday.
Location was good for the lido and local restaurants.
Our visit started badly when we pressed the buzzer for the empty car park only to be told we need to check-in and pay in advance before we would be let in. This caused problems because the hotel is on a busy street and we were sworn at for blocking the road. We then had to do a loop of the town to get back to the hotel. The receptionist Roberto Rodriguez was substantially less than helpful and was literally shaking with rage when we told him this was unreasonable. They have to manually work out which of the vacant spaces they can put you in. From then on the reception staff made no effort to greet guests and the general vibe of the staff is grumpy and rude. The room was big, with some modern clean furniture but the bed was old and uncomfortable, with a large gap between the two singles that had been pushed together. The walls and bathroom were tired and need a complete modernisation.
The room on the 8th floor was relatively quiet despite being opposite a working building site and main road. Breakfast was adequate, watered down juice, stale bread and a slightly bigger selection than basic. Despite this it was not the best breakfast I have ever tasted, and nowhere near as good as the other hotel we stayed in on the island!
Location wise it is out of the old town and up a steep hill, but central to the lido and the restaurants in that area. A good location near other large hotels. It seemed to cater mainly for package tours and an older demographic from around Europe. The thing that made everything seem worse was the unfriendly attitude of all of the staff and especially the ice cold welcome we got when we arrived. I wouldn’t stay there again.
This is our 5th visit to the Suite Hotel Girassol and we absolutely love it.
We have had the same room for the last three visits and it is great. We have a sitting room with television and mini fridge and kettle. A separate and very comfortable bedroom with an en suite bathroom with a full bath and a shower. Plenty of wardrobe space and drawers. Great mattresses and very good pillows. Each suite comes with air con and heating which you can control yourself.
A large balcony with two chairs and a table completes the accommodation.
The staff at the hotel have become friends over the years. They are lovely and cannot do enough for us.
There is an excellent range of food in the restaurant and breakfasts are especially good. Snacks are available mornings and afternoons.
The all inclusive package includes a good range of drinks. The rose wine is highly recommended.
On our recent visit the weather was poor so for the first time we were unable to use the pool , but the hotel was lovely and warm and the staff ensured we were well cared for and we still had a brilliant holiday.
The location is perfect. Close to the sea front and Lido , surrounded by bars and restaurants and only a short walk ( we walk through the gardens) to the city centre with all its attractions.
Windsor Travel is next door to the hotel and they can arrange trips for you , there is so much to see !
And there is a great hairdresser on site too, she is very popular so do book as soon as you arrive.
We are already in the process of rebooking .
We stayed for the 8 th time ..
We prefer a smaller more personal hotel , rather than a larger impersonal one ..
The staff are friendly and helpful (the reception staff Ceilia especially) and the staff in the restaurant.. ) We always look forward to returning , and are doing so in May again 😊
We recently stayed at the Girassol Hotel where we experienced good levels of hospitality. Girassol, translation into English means sunflower and sunflowers are symbolic of joy, positivity hope and happiness. Hotel Girassol’s value proposition reflects this. Wear good quality running shoes when out and about - our step count was off the scale! There is lots to do and see in Funchal. We attended the Orquestra Cassica da Madeira for a performance of Edward Elgar’s cello concerto & Enigma variations polished off with a blast of pomp & circumstance. We would also recommend the Funchal Guitar Quartet that perform regularly at the Scottish church and are fabulous. We enjoyed our stay very much.

My husband & my niece & sister-in -law a great niece & great nephew, all went to Madeira for the first time for half term in February 2026.
We had a lovely week 13-20
Of February for Half term as my niece is a deputy head , at a special needs , private school in Surrey. The jr suite was clean and comfortable, plus we had a balcony was a great plus.
We went all -inclusive,the food was very good, the variety , was
Also very good.
The staff were friendly, professional & very helpful.
Would definitely stay there again.
The accommodation was better than I expected. The rooms were spacious and well appointed. The cleaning service also excellent. I had buffet meals all of which were attractively presented and there was a good choice of vegetarian dishes. I liked the location of the hotel as it was in a good spot for public transport and access to the lido area.
Only just arrived. 1 rule for all inclusive poor choice of pre made drinks as all inclusive On show branded bottles but at the pool when asked no not included for nearly everything even coffee has to come from machine and not made fresh . Regretting coming already first day .definitely would not have come if this was the case will be approaching Jet 2 rep not good enough for 1600 each.
Excellent hotel as it's a studio and you have a room with a TV to relax together with a verandah, breakfasts were excellent and pools on the whole good, please beware they are unheated. Location is excellent, again just note you will be charged to use the car park if you hire a car. Overall, a great experience. It was our second trip, and we hope to go again.
