good location, nice place, AC
all a bit run down, mosquitos in the night, they removed our towels when cleaning but did not bring new ones. So on the second day we had only the small towels.
We spent two nights at the Le Ryad Hotel. Frankly speaking, we were quite disappointed with the establishment.
The place is basically worn down, messy, in poor shape, and appears shabby. It’s a tired hotel in dire need of a major makeover.
On the hotel’s website, this poor state is described as “charming”, which is an overstatement. The photos on the hotel’s website do not reflect the reality and certainly not the maintenance level. We tend to believe that the photos have been exposed either to Photoshop or AI manipulation.
The front desk and restaurant staff of young men are informal, helpful, and friendly, but one is left with the impression that they haven’t undergone any professional hospitality training. They do their best, but the guest experience leaves plenty of room for improvement.
The breakfast is excellent and comes in three sizes: Small, Medium and Large (7, 9, 14€). After check-in, we ordered breakfast for both days. However, on the second morning, there was no breakfast ready for us.
Apparently, the front desk staff can only manage daily breakfast orders – they cannot receive breakfast orders for two consecutive days. It’s one day at a time. In addition, on the day of our departure, breakfast was cancelled for all guests due to rain the previous day. “Due to rain the previous day!!!!” We still wonder how the weather can prevent serving breakfast?
Sadly, our expectations were not met. The lack of cleanliness and the state of the hotel merely reflect a hostel.
Old and dated. Didn’t go into the garden as the staff suggested not to
It was in a dark street with lots of males standing outside
We really enjoyed our stay in this little hotel. It’s in a great location and so everything we wanted to see in Marseille was in walking distance! The hotel has a beautiful, old staircase (no elevator) and the staff is extremely nice and welcoming. We’ll be back!
ottima posizione, stanze grandi e pulite. Personale accogliente
Staff were fantastic. Hotel itself very bohemian.... but I like that. Room was great, especially the balcony.
No lift. 4 flights of stairs with a heavy case...not easy but understand in an old building not easy to install.
