Has potential but we wouldn’t stay there again
Pros:

Check in was easy, staff were very friendly and helpful

Cons:

The swimming pool was very cold, the rooms heater didn’t heat the room, slept in clothes and two duvets, breakfast in the morning was cold and generally just not great. We always strip our beds to help the staff when we leave, the sheets were clean but the mattress protector underneath was full of dark hairs (were blonde) and stains. The room we were in was clearly the cheaper ones, wobbly tile on the floor, stained grout, broken bath panel. The bedroom was clean and a nice size but almost the furthest away so a long walk to get anywhere. Overall it was nice to had some time away for our anniversary but it was very disappointing compared to other places We’ve been previous years

A beautiful property with great facilities, but disappointing service, room issues, and an overpriced dining experience
Pros:

The property is absolutely stunning and very spacious. Our room was large, the bed was comfortable, and the spa facilities were lovely. We enjoyed our first night so much that we decided to book an additional night and were told we could remain in the same room.

Unfortunately, the morning reception staff were not aware of this arrangement and asked us to vacate the room by 11am. We then had to wait until after 12pm to access the new room, which was disappointing. The second room, which cost £60 more, did not meet expectations. There was no hot water, the shower felt dated and worn, and the “double” bed was actually two single beds pushed together, which made it uncomfortable as we kept rolling into the gap.

We were particularly disappointed with how this was handled and found the morning reception staff to be quite rude. That said, we did enjoy many aspects of our stay and would consider returning, perhaps booking a Club Room next time.

We also dined at the Hunnington Grill. The atmosphere was lovely and inviting, though the prices were on the higher side. The waiter recommended the tomahawk steak and reassured us that it wouldn’t be fatty. Unfortunately, it was very chewy and mostly inedible, so we couldn’t eat much of it. While the waiter was apologetic and offered some money off the wine as compensation, we only received a £9 discount from the overall bill. Considering we still paid over £130 for two people, this felt disappointing and not reflective of the experience.

Cons:

The main issues with our stay were poor communication between staff regarding our extended booking, which resulted in us being asked to leave our room and wait for the new one, along with a rude attitude from the morning reception team. The second room, which cost £60 more, was disappointing — there was no hot water, the shower was dated, and the bed (two singles pushed together) was uncomfortable. We were also let down by our meal at Hunnington Grill, where the recommended tomahawk steak was chewy and largely inedible, and the £9 discount offered felt insufficient given we still paid over £130 for two.

Hot Water issues
Pros:

The hotel itself is lovely. Our room was clean and spacious, with a bath and separate shower. The bed was really comfortable. We treated ourselves to dinner at the Hunningtons Restaurant which was pricey but absolutely delicious. Breakfast was buffet style, with a very good selection.

Cons:

We had issues with our hot water. Maintenance were prompt to respond but to get hot water we had to the run the shower, bath and basin hot taps together for a full 10 minutes and then it wasn't that hot. This was actually written in the info left in the room so it is obviously a continuous problem. Something to do with the boiler location length of pipes etc. It would have been nice to have been told this when we checked in and perhaps a complimentary drinks voucher. We were offered a room swap but by this time it was late and as we were only staying the one night it didn't seem worth it and we didn't know if the water situation would have been any better. The following morning we were offered an extended checkout for the inconvenience but as the checkout was 11am.anyway we felt this was worthless. Its a shame because if it wasn't for the above issues our stay would have been perfect.

Location great, golf course and driving range closed, food very poor
Cons:

Food was poor - evening meals sub standard, cold, unrefined, breakfast poor - when I asked for a fresh fried egg all i got was one from the hot plate - cold, over cooked

Disappointing
Pros:

Room was large, decent size gym.

Cons:

No hot water during my entire stay. Not offered any form of refund around this. I asked whether I could change my room to a double room as opposed to a twin room, was told this was not possible as the hotel was full, yet at breakfast in the period of 45 minutes I was in there, almost all tables were empty and there were only 10 people in there.

Staff were dismissive of no hot water concern and when asked whether this would be compensated in anyway, was told the only thing I could try was emailing the general manager.

Overall a lovely break away
Pros:

Lovely hotel staff were excellent and welcoming and the food was fantastic. Lovely location and very comfortable rooms.

Cons:

In the spa, the swim suit dryer was out of order both days and there were times the shower gel dispenser was empty in the changing rooms, and we also noticed some small worm type bugs around the swimming pool.
