Pros:

Unexpected upgrade to a suite. Thank you.

Buffet breakfast was very good (except for the oatmeal), and I especially enjoyed the individually prepared omelette each morning.

The Reception staff member who spoke English and assisted me in making arrangements for the departure morning's international train trip to Vientiane, Laos, was very much appreciated. Fantastic.

Cons:

The 'oatmeal' was terribly watery: more milk rather than cooked oats, which is the main ingredient.

The hotel's wifi reception/coverage was awful, and meant that I could not receive email or access usual websites from soon after check-in.

Furthermore, there was NO, none, zero, access to TV English language news channels. At a Holiday Inn hotel, I simply EXPECT this service.
