Hotel was OK. It seems that the entire area is suffering a decline in tourism. The restaurant tied to the hotel was closed. Parking is problematic. Very tight parking on a gravel area. The good news is that the room and bathroom were very clean.
What a lovely hotel in a beautiful location. Staff were all friendly and worked really hard to serve the guests. We booked on a half board basis with picnic lunch through a walking holiday company and the food was excellent. Traditional Swiss breakfast of cold meats and cheese, various breads, rolls and croissants with jams, honey & Nutella, as well as boiled eggs and cereals, yoghurts and fruit. The evening meals were superb, very tasty and well presented. Drinks were quite expensive at the bar, particularly the wine. The guest lounge was well equipped with a free pool table and games. There is a small pool and sauna downstairs but we didn’t get time to use them. Rooms were very clean and comfortable with magnificent views of the mountains. A hairdryer was provided and a coffee machine, but no milk. Would have preferred a kettle and choice of tea or coffee etc. Hotel is in great location to access the train station, bus stops and gondolas and cable cars up to the three different mountains. Highly recommend a stay here. Imagine it would be really cosy in the winter.
Very much a vintage hotel experience. I had an excellent mountain view, which I was able to enjoy from bed every morning. The cleaning crew were efficient and very good. The staff was very helpful with planning alternative hikes. I chose to walk the 800m from the train station, which for me was very doable. However, I am very fit and this may not be an option for everyone. The breakfast buffet was very good. I also had dinner at the hotel restaurant, Nico's, which was excellent. It was my best dining experience in Kandersteg and during my stay in Switzerland. The spa was small, but clean and very relaxing. I highly recommend staying here and would absolutely re-visit if I come back to Switzerland.
A lovely experience in a very well run hotel. Staff were efficient, helpful and they seemed happy- which speaks well of the leadership. The food was excellent ( though my fussy teenager occasionally opted out for pizza.🙄. ) . The rooms were nicely proportioned (though we had a suite with a separate shower and bathroom) and the beds firm. The views magnificent! An excellent base for our walking holiday. I can highly recommend
Staff Service especially Mariam was 10/10
Incredible stay! Amazing place to visit!
The spa at this hotel was fantastic!
Excellent. Great location.
Wonderful people and great accommodations and breakfast.
Nice staff, quaint hotel
The room was not very clean. I dropped my book between the bed and the cabinet and my book was covered in dirt and fluff. We did not use the swimming pool - or should I say plunge pool. The online photo makes it seem like the pool is about 25m long but in fact it is more like 10m! The swimming pool is very dark and dingy and not at all inviting. It's a sham because we chose this hotel because it had a pool. On the plus side, the beds were extremely comfortable and the breakfast was great, a very good selection of muesli and breads. The hotel team were very helpful so I do feel mean giving this review but I do feel a bit tricked into thinking they had a nice pool.
Au tarif de la nuit un peu déçue plus d'eau chaude pendant 2h limite quand même, l'accueil moyen et personnel non souriant ou très peu seul point positif heureusement qu'il y avait la vue incroyable.
First impression matters, we arrived super early before checkIn time, the front desk was unattended, I called for help and someone showed up with no friendly approach, I stated that I understood that we were early to check in and we wanted to see our options, she seemed annoyed with us, did reminded us that it was too early to check in again. I asked if we leave our bags and she took us to the room where we could leave our luggage until check in. I did not feel welcome at all.
The property is nice, clean, comfortable beds and spacious room. The area was very quite for the time we were there, not everything was open, but we enjoyed it that way.
Breakfast was good. In general it was a good stay but unfortunately the first impression was not good at all.
Great place
A excellent hotel which is friendly and well run. However it lost points due to some things that can easily put right. The one that would involve cost. Is lack of charger for electric cars. A suprise with Switzerland liable to lose so much due to global warming with nearly the entire railway electrified. a strange omission. Beer is expensive even allowing for Switzerland. For some reason whilst they will fill your flask with hot water you cannot have tea bags and milk for having tea in your room A coffee machine and coffee is provided. Also breakfast has nothing hot. Bacon fried eggs etch. You can also not have a bread roll with cheese and ham as a take away. I'm sure this could be organised as there must by rolls tat are just thrown out. Not even allowed to buy one. Good point rooms are clean with a an excellent evening meal. Lounge is very nice.
Loved this family run hotel! It was very traditional with spacious rooms and comfortable beds. The staff were always friendly and welcoming and the restaurant served very tasty food. And as for the view from the balcony, it was beautiful! The hotel also had a small pool and spa facilities which we took advantage of. Definitely recommend a stay here.
Sehr sauber und freundliche Gastgeber
Nico and his team were excellent in everyway, friendly, helpful and great cooks! The hotel a high standard with an owner manager touch ... clean and well maintained. All round , thank you!
One of our team had an accident on the slopes and nothing was to much trouble for the "Seiler's team" in helping us out.
This hotel is a little further away from the train station than the other options, but it's still walkable. Like all the chalet style hotels in Kandersteg, Seiler's Vintage Hotel offers a Swiss environment and feel. (The walk to the gondola up to the lake is about 20 minutes.) The rooms in the front of the hotel offer beautiful views. Rooms in the back do not have balconies. The included breakfast is average (with no hot options). We had dinner at the hotel one night - very expensive. I recommend walking down the main street and checking our other hotels and restaurants for dinner. The rooms were comfortable. I would stay here again.
The single room is very convenient for a short stay and a stay-over on multiday hiking. It is quiet, cosy and bed is comfortable. Buffet breakfast is fantastic! Fresh fruit, bread, cheese…
Location is very close to the start of the hike to Oeschinensee and the train station - Totally recommend the stay at Seiler’s vintage hotel
