Very good location if you want to be close to the beach and don't mind the noise of the gulls. Room was spacious and relatively clean, any missing item refilled on request, staff friendly. Place has an old, glamorous feel to it.
Building is a little old and things are outdated. The room felt slightly tilted and the view wasn't very pretty, probably if we chose a seaview room would have been different. Decor is old and furniture worn out.
Breakfast was excellent, good value for money and plenty of choice.
Location
I really didn't like the cleanliness of the hotel. There was mold in the toilets and mold in the shower. When it came to the room, our room wasn't clean yet. They cleaned it, we got a different one, the curtains were torn. It was dirty.
The spa is great plus the bed was very clean and comfy.
Slightly outdated but not a huge deal breaker
Great location, friendly helpful staff. Great value for money , what’s not to like
Nothing, it’s an old building with lovely architecture .
Good service
Nothing
We've been going to the Royal for years and find it adequate for our needs. This year though although the staff were good the amount of staff was insufficient to give a suitable service to the customers. The cleanliness of the bedrooms was not good. We could have written in the dust and dirt around the wardrobes and units. It will not stop us going but do feel if it gets worse we will consider finding somewhere else. It needs a good refurbish.
Other than the dirty carpets and dust it was ok. Very beautifully Victorian.
