I have nothing positive to say. Read my “what I didn’t like”
I booked a few months out and sent a message that I would be arriving late, between 9 and 10pm. They replied that it would not be a problem. They charged my card two days out, even though I chose the option to pay at check in. When I arrived the office was closed. No one was there. I tried calling and just got a voice mail. They called back about 10 minutes later saying that they were overbooked and did not have a room for me. I was stranded in Alturus at 10 PM. I called other hotels in the area, they were all booked. A few informed me that I was not alone in my situation. I ended up finding a place one hour in the wrong direction. I would not recommend this hotel or booking.com. This is the second time I have had a problem with this site. Don’t trust it. Stay away. Use a different site.
The free breakfast offered was good from Valero. The beds are comfortable and the staff is very nice. I also like the fact that the room has a microwave and refrigerator. The fact it's pet friendly is great.
There was a lot of dark hair on the shower drain that I had to clean before showering. There wasn't any hand soap available. The TV or internet wasn't working so we were not able to watch TV for our two night stay.
I am not usually someone who writes reviews, but my experience at the Modoc Inn was bad enough that I feel obligated to warn others.
I traveled to Alturas for a wedding and booked a room for myself, my partner, and our 2-year-old child. When I arrived to check in, there was no one at the front desk. Another guest was also waiting and told me she had already called the front desk seven times without getting an answer. She called again while I was there, and it went to voicemail. I tried calling several times myself with no luck. After about 10 minutes, the other guest finally received a text message saying someone would be there shortly.
A few minutes later, an employee arrived. Communication was very difficult because she spoke very little English and seemed confused about my reservation. She initially gave me the wrong room key and then asked to use my phone to call someone. Eventually, I was given the correct room and was able to get inside.
Before even getting to the room, the overall condition of the property was concerning. It appeared that some people may have been living in several of the motel rooms full-time. There was trash, clutter, and personal belongings scattered outside multiple rooms. Some of the windows were open, allowing you to see inside as you walked by, and several of those rooms were also filled with junk and garbage. It gave the property a neglected and unkempt appearance.
Unfortunately, things only got worse once I entered my room.
The floors throughout the room were covered in dirt. When I checked the bathroom, there was black hair everywhere—on the towels, in the bathtub, on the toilet seat, and clogging the bathtub drain. The bathroom floors were filthy, and there were stains on the walls that appeared to be urine. I then checked the bed and found stains on the sheets along with more black hair.
I immediately went back to the front desk, but once again, nobody was there.
Overall condition was poor, staff was not around when needed. Not their falt but no WiFi.
Nothing the pictures were a lie smh
That there was no soap to wash hands my door didnt lock the windows were filthy along with the room I slept ontop of the blankets had to go buy my own the tv didnt work or connect to internet honestly want my 124 dollars back you guys are allowing false advertising i can send a video the tv turned on but did not work even had the hotel manager try amd fix it this is unexeptible and no reason to pay even 20 dollars a night for that room honestly so mad but I had no choice to stay
The room was just okay people are friendly but the room smells bad like cigarettes and it feels like your inhaling it in your sleep throughout your stay I brought plug-ins to break the smell but nothing helped.
The area was not like it was shown in pictures
Some issue with TV in initial room (14). Moved me to 19 - no issue.
Our advanced reservations were not initially recognized not til I went back to the office and pressed the issue. Our room was ok,but sink pop up and shower head bracket were broken and toilet seat was nearly falling off. Power supply for refer, microwave and coffee maker were inadequate. Had to remove microwave cord fron outlet in order to plug in coffee maker. Not a very well managed property.
Old fashioned motel. Clean and friendly staff. No night stands so inconvenient.
Nice and clean
The guy running the place was very helpful and outgoing I give him A+
No desk or chair
We drove up and it was in such poor condition, we drove right back out and found another place. It looked like something in a ghost town.
We drove in and we shocked at the condition this hotel was in. We did not even check in. We left and found another hotel in the area.
Sweet. The entrance at door had some loose cinder blocks, though.
It took 15 or 20 minutes to round up someone to check me in. Otherwise it was fine.
