Categories

Cleanliness
7.3
Mostly acceptable but some notable issues reported (ants in kitchen and main bathroom in one cottage, and an isolated incident of smashed glasses/noise late at night) — cleanliness generally fine for most guests but occasional lapses noted.
Service
8.8
Staff frequently praised: friendly and efficient reception, engaging wait staff at the Boiler Room, knowledgeable and friendly shuttle drivers; some operational service friction (shuttle timing/route) but overall strong service sentiment.
Location
9.2
Consistently lauded — stunning waterviews, beautiful and quiet location close to Manly; described as a hidden gem and ideal for events and sightseeing.
Room Quality
7.8
Mixed: some guests loved spacious heritage suites and gorgeous rooms with great views; others noted older rooms, need for refresh, lack of drawers/shelves and separate toilets in some units.
Amenities
8
Good variety of on-site experiences (ghost tour, event venues, waterview cafe) and reliable shuttle service for many, but issues with shuttle condition/timings, cafe hours/advertising, and limited unpacking/storage in some rooms.
Value for Money
7.7
Perceived value mixed — many guests felt the experience and location justified the stay, but some called meals expensive for the quality and cited extra costs/time (travelling into Manly) when on-site options closed unexpectedly.
Food and Beverage
7.8
Mixed impressions: Boiler Room praised for top-quality meals by some, while others found restaurant meals average for the cost; cafe hours and availability caused frustration for some stays.
Overall Experience
9
Strongly positive overall — many guests described it as relaxing, a hidden gem, would stay again, great for events and scenic stays despite some operational/room issues.

It was very nice and quiet and really easy to walk around and not get lost

Cons:

There were a few bugs in our room and my mattress on the sofa bed was very squeaky. Bit hard to sleep

Gorgeous place!
Pros:

What a gorgeous place - everything about it. I didn't even mind having to park up top and walk or shuttle bus to my room. In fact, the walking was a delightful part of the whole experience. And so close to Manly, too! My room was super warm and comfortable, too. Just loved it.

Beautiful place! Views, quiet, serene.
Pros:

Beautiful site, amazing views and lots of space to wander around. Great history, museum is interesting.
Rooms well appointed, comfortable and clean.
Loved the variety of places to eat, and a glass of wine by the Cove was so nice on a winter afternoon.

Cons:

Sunday nights - all food facilities are closed. Needed to go into Manly to find some dinner (which wasn't difficult) but meant we needed to drive.

Would definitely stay here again
Pros:

Property is amazing

Cons:

We stayed near what seemed to be a storage room and at about 1am were woken by a staff member dropping a tray of glasses and smashing them, while it wasn’t the end of the world I would have thought staff would wait for a better time to unload the van

Third time for us and it has never disappointed.
Pros:

We had a Heritage Harbour View suite which is very well-positioned to enjoy a wide view f the harbour back towards the city and comprises 2 rooms so plenty of space for bags and clothes hanging.
Boiler room restaurant serves top quality food by friendly, engaging wait staff. Reception is friendly and efficient.

Cons:

Shuttle buses are getting shabby. Wharf cafe does not serve breakfast on weekdays despite pamphlet saying it does. Q Station faces the sea so is starting to show weathering of external surfaces. There are no drawers or shelves to unpack clothes.
