Breakfast was nice
Great location and some of the staff were lovely, some were not so
Property needs a refresh decoration throughout…. Quite tired in lots of places
The property decor is a little tired looking, the room was big, the staff were amazing.
The balcony view sold it for us.
The breakfast were poor, looked like shop bought produce rather than locally sourced, and to be ask to pay for eggs in a different way was insulting.
The old decor and architecture, the view and the comfy bed
The food in the restaurant
I had planned a weekend as a Christmas gift, had lots of contact with the hotel to ensure the “added extras” were ready and in place for an extra special weekend away. Everything was as planned, staff were exceptional, the food was amazing and facilities were of a very high standard. Very appreciative of everyone involved in the planning, nothing too much trouble. Thank you all.
Nothing at all, everything was perfect
绝佳的位置,就在湖边,出门走1分钟就到游船码头。床品很舒服
只有电扇,房间很热
淋浴水很小
毛巾该更换了
Excellent location and excellent views of the lake.
Nice location
Very slow service in the restaurant
We booked this break via secret escapes, and paid an upgrade charge for a deluxe room and in truth if this was an deluxe room I would hate to stay in a standard room. However we did not pursue a complaint as the view was good. The condition of the room was not the best but at least it was clean. The condition of the hotel was very very poor for a hotel of that star rating. The bar lounge at night was not very relaxing and the noise coming from neighbouring bars was not what you would expect in a Lake District location, loud outside music until 11pm. The choice of food in the restaurant was very limited as was the breakfast menu, with very little GF choices. In truth if it was not for the pool gym and hot rooms (no hot tub) we would rate the hotel no more than 2 star. Bowness is not what it used to be, and we didn't find our weekend at all relaxing. The staff however were very polite and helpful.
Location is very good the room are good
Breakfast we had booked for 10am we had to wait in a line of over 20 people for over 25 minutes we could see tables available inside
But still wasn’t seated I don’t know why.
We was asked if we wanted toast said yes the toast came out and then they took the breakfast order wasn’t asked if I wanted tea or coffee I had to ask for that and it didn’t arrive
By the time I’d eaten my breakfast and left.
So to summarise the wait to be seated was ridiculous they should of taken the full order
For the hole breakfast including hot drinks ant the same time and brought it all out together
Instead we had cold toast by the time the breakfast came out and hot drinks that didn’t arrive at all
We are currently staying at the Old England Hotel and honestly, this has been one disappointment after another. The only genuinely positive parts of the stay so far have been the breakfast and the spa facilities, both of which were enjoyable and felt closer to the standard we expected from a 4-star hotel.
Unfortunately, almost everything else has fallen well below expectations.
From arrival, the reception staff came across as rude and uninterested, which immediately set the tone for the stay. The hotel itself feels extremely outdated, with tired décor throughout and an overall atmosphere that feels more neglected than charming.
One of the biggest frustrations was the surprise £25 per night parking charge, which was not made clear during booking. For a hotel charging premium prices, this felt incredibly misleading.
We also paid extra for a lake view room, only to discover the windows were so dirty that you can barely even appreciate the view. Paying for an upgrade that you can’t properly enjoy feels ridiculous.
The room itself has had multiple issues:
The shower takes around 20 minutes to warm up properly
The supplied hairdryer does not work
The TV is extremely outdated and doesn’t support streaming
The WiFi is very weak and unreliable
There is no proper way to cool the room other than opening the window, which then lets in a huge amount of noise from outside, making it difficult to relax or sleep comfortably
Individually, some of these issues might be minor, but altogether they create a very poor experience, especially for a hotel advertised as 4-star accommodation.
At the moment, the hotel feels overpriced and heavily reliant on its location rather than the actual quality of the stay. We expected comfort, cleanliness and decent facilities, but so far this has not felt remotely worth the money.
Fabulous room
