The Pearl Hotel, Kolkata

Near to Hyatt regency n at d gate of stadium. Location was perfect. Room was very cosy.

Had to call room service several time after which only they would show up.

ur site should not promote such hotels. on line booking was costlier than actual rates. rooms. rooms & toilets were too small. Ur site must develop a system to recheck the photographs supplied by the hotels.
providing the size of room could be one idea, where u could visualize before the making the booking. Atul Saxena

My booking was for luxury room, where on check in they gave deluxe. When I questioned they showed 2 other rooms and to select any one of choice!!
Finally on the selected room, had to wait about an hour to get the room cooled.. And surprisingly no fan in the room to compensate the ac flow.

I was in Kolkata for an international conference. The hotel looks nice from the outside, and reviews look good. But I was disappointed. I made my booking and requested to have their shuttle pick me up from the Airport. I called reception desk 5 times before landing to confirm my time of arrival and that I needed a shuttle. on all of those occasions the person I spoke to agreed. On arrival I called twice and was told that the driver was coming to fetch me. But to my shock no one showed up. I then called after an hour of waiting at the airport and was told that the driver went to pick up some one else and would not come for me anymore. I then went to look for public transport which was risky as I did not know anyone there.

On arrival, the person I met at reception was welcoming. I was assisted and given another loud room (my assumption: the whole hotel is loud. I struggled to fall asleep because of the noise during my stay (windows are not sound-proofed). The room was still dusty and dirty (see pictures). There was a bottle of water that was in the room, I drank the water and it tasted salty. My advice buy your own bottled water, not at the hotel.
The complimentary lotion and shower gel looked dirty used. I just left them untouched while I was there.

The wifi connection was free and good quality.

Sengetøjet var beskidt, AC'en larmede som om den var ved at falde ud af væggen, toilettet lugtede og bruseren var beskidt. Meget dårlig oplevelse desværre. Dog var hotellets personale meget venlige og hjælpsomme.

Well the hotel's location is really the plus point...had to really pursue the reception for a FREE internet as they were pretty reluctant...the time taken by the food to reach my room from the kitchen was forever as the food was warm...if you want something you really need to put pressure on the staff

Overall I had a pleasant experience during my stay.The hotel reception staff was very cooperative, helpful and courteous.Room service was good. The staff was efficient, courteous and pleasant. Surroundings of the hotel are not clean. Location of the hotel is good and very convenient. It is close to the Airport. It is located on the EM bye pass which makes it convenient to travel to all areas of Kolkatta easy.
I was put off by the inconsistencies. The site says that guest have free WiFi service. I was instead told that it would be charged. the site says that each room has an iron and an iron board. However, it is not correct. You have to ask and only then you are provided, that too when it is available.
I feel the facilities are below expectations considering the charges.
