Pros:

Very enjoyable place to rest from overwhelming city, quite and peaceful, a great place to relax. 15-20 min by train to Edinburgh so you can enjoy the city without being worried about traffic and parking.

Great option for early flights
Pros:

Hotel is lovely. Large room. Free parking. Restaurant on site. Perfect for an overnight before an early flight out of Edinburgh Airport. It is less than 7 miles away.

Nice building and setting but needs investment
Pros:

Lovely tower house, nice setting and convenient location. I stay with work but the usual problems with Macdonald hotels - lack of investment, the place is quite run down. This time my room was also not very clean, floor was filthy - even found a pair of tweezers which were in the middle of the floor and looked to have been there a while! Staff are always helpful and doing their best.

Anniversary stay
Pros:

at check in it was ok receptionist was friendly & polite, Had to walk outside to the annex for our room in which i was not aware when booked. Bar for drinks is very expensive and bar maid kept disappearing, Strong smell of cannabis at reception & bar area in the evening which was not very nice and staff were not interested. Restaurant was like a morgue food was not nice very over priced waited a long time for food to arrive, staff were not helpful had to keep asking .Breakfast was disappointing again had to keep asking, When checking out did not get asked if our stay was ok. Overall the hotel is very tired and NO i would not come back again

Pros:

Although there was a little issue with the configuration of our room set up, we booked a twin and the room set up was a king… that was fixed before we had even consumed our first drink in the very atmosphere hotel bar.. beautiful hotel, wonderful team, yummy food and fantastic team.

Disappointing stay
Pros:

Very disappointed to say this is Supposed to be a 4 star hotel. The "spa" facilities are very poor, no whirlpool/jacuzzi, steam room was out of order and sauna was packed full of gym lads. Changing rooms were also crowded and unclean.

We had no towels on arrival and had to ask 4 times! At reception before finally getting some.
Bathroom was not cleaned at all during our stay, would have been nice for cleaners to at least give the sink and toilet a quick clean.

Charming, quaint outside of the hustle and bustle
Pros:

The ladies at the front desk were wonderful. Everyone was exceptionally kind, and the food was outstanding. The service in the restaurant was excellent as well. I highly recommend the haddock.

Family 4 nights stay in Broxburn
Pros:

Great stay visiting Edinburgh for 4 nights, the hotel standard is good with spacious family rooms, great gym & pool facilities and 20 drive to the park n ride car park to get into Edinburgh.
