Located outside the main buzz, but it was actually a benefit, as it was calmer, less crowdy, but still only 20 min walk to the Harbour market etc.
A nice airy room, even though not overlooking the sea. Really spacious bathroom.

I paid £500 for a two-night stay and, unfortunately, the experience was highly disappointing. For the price, I expected a much higher standard of accommodation and customer service.

The hotel as a whole is in need of some TLC, with cracks in the walls and areas where the paintwork was poor. We booked a deluxe sea-view room at a higher rate, and while the view itself was beautiful, the bathroom was covered in cobwebs that clearly hadn’t been cleaned for some time. Tea and coffee were provided in the room, but there was no milk, meaning we had to go to the bar to ask for some.

The customer service was particularly disappointing. There were a few exceptions, most notably Mia, who was absolutely fantastic and genuinely went above and beyond throughout our stay. The breakfast staff were also pleasant and helpful.

At the bar, I asked for a Hugo Spritz but was initially told it couldn’t be made, despite the bar having all the necessary ingredients. Thankfully, Mia stepped in and arranged for it to be made. However, we were then charged separately for each individual ingredient, which seemed very unusual and left a poor impression.

Another particularly frustrating experience involved trying to charge my phone. My phone had run out of battery and, although I had my charging cable with me, I didn’t have a plug socket. I first approached reception, who directed me to the bar, and I then spoke to the General Manager. Unfortunately, I found the response extremely unhelpful and lacking in empathy or customer service.

I was told that, due to “health and safety” and the risk of fire, staff were unable to charge my phone using one of the hotel’s sockets. I understand the importance of health and safety, but the way the situation was handled felt unnecessarily dismissive. I even explained that without a charged phone I wouldn’t be able to use the bar or spend money at the hotel, but there was still no attempt to find a solution.
