Location ideal to explore the old town
Hotel room - beautiful, one of the nicest decorated rooms I have stayed in
Dessert in restaurant - not nice, and I gave feedback and the waiter apologised. It was a small chocolate and avocado pot, I tried a couple of mouthfuls but it'd didn't improve.
Room temperature much too cold with draft...
We ve stayed at several Du Vins and choose to celebrate my partner's 60th birthday at their Edinburgh hotel. What a let down. We booked the Cristal suite as it was advertised as quiet and with a balcony. After a 6 hour drive we were told the suite had been sold. I had phoned direct to reception a few days earlier to confirm the suite and told it was all booked. We were given a new room courtesy of Abs who tried to resolve the situation as my partner was extremely upset but the new room was opposite a busy road and not what we had paid for and promised by reception.
Then after a morning out we came back to the room in the afternoon and found it had not been serviced. We had no towels or toilet roll. We phoned reception and were told occupied rooms were not refreshed after 3 pm. A nice lady eventually brought fresh towels and toiletries.
Really disappointed and not what we are used to at a Du Vin hotel
I was visiting this atmospheric establishment for the first time to participate in a very special event to celebrate Burns Night and Scotlands 'Auld Alliance' with France. It was well attended by mainly visitors to Edinburgh. A lively event comprising of good food, with added delight of expert advise from a wine and whisky connoisseur and a lively Burns enthusiast, all expertly hosted by mine host Ben.
The food was first class class ++ and the atmosphere convivial. Robert Burns would have approved.
Very attractive building tucked away in an excellent location.
Bit cold.
Hotel du Vin is one of my favourite restaurants in the Old Town. The team are always warm and friendly, the venue is cosy, relaxed. It's a charming hotel and restaurant.
Hotel du vin - the Errazuriz suite was perfect, enormous bed, his and hers showers plus a roll top bath and Bluetooth sound system. Only suggestion would be having soaps near the bath as the shower ones were fixed to the wall. The breakfasts are to die for too
