Hotel Du Vin is wonderful
Pros:

If you are looking for the absolute best hotel for a Edinburgh visit, Hotel Du Vin IS it! Coming straight off an overnight flight, we were expecting to have to store our bags and wait 6 hours to check in but NO, they had our room ready and we got right in! I know this can’t be done regularly but the fact that they even did it this time is just incredible and very much appreciated. Next, our room (larger bed) was huge by European standards, beautifully appointed, quiet and as comfortable as home. The location is just perfect with pretty much all of the attractions within walking distance. The staff here has been universally wonderful and friendly. I highly, highly recommend this hotel!

Pros:

Hotel e camere molto curate.

A stylish setting with good food, but the extras add up
Pros:

I've strolled past Hotel du Vin countless times without giving it much thought, so when the opportunity arose to try their early evening prix fixe menu, I was keen to give it a try.

The offer is two courses for £24.95 or 3 courses for £29.95, with the option to add a 175ml glass of house wine or a bottle of beer for £3.50, which sounds good on the face of it.

For starters, I chose the pâté de campagne with cornichons and toasted sourdough. It arrived as a thick, generous slice with tangy pickles and French mustard which perfectly complimented it and was delicious.

For the main course, I opted for the corn-fed chicken breast with wild mushrooms, burnt leeks and chicken velouté. We were all slightly taken aback to find that no sides are included with the main courses, so we decided to share side dishes of buttered new potatoes which is more than enough for two. The chicken was lovely with crispy skin and paired well with the velouté and leeks.

Others chose the sea bass and said it was nice, although the portion was noted as being somewhat on the small side. I thought that might be the case for a main course with only 233 calories stated on the menu.

I had a carafe of house wine (£18.95), which was perfectly drinkable and paired well with the meal.

We skipped desserts, but both starters and mains were very good and the service was impeccable. However, once you factor in sides and the 12.5% discretionary service charge, the “value” of the set menu starts to feel less compelling. My bill came to £52, which is worth bearing in mind if you’re drawn in by the headline price.

That said, both the food and service were very good and I would happily return. There's also a lovely courtyard outside that's ideal for summer drinks.

We adjourned afterwards to the upstairs mezzanine hotel bar, which you would never know about without asking the staff for directions. It's open to all and I loved it.

With Chesterfield leather sofas, tartan cushions, a chandelier made with wine glasses as a centre piece and table service, it's perfect and cosy for a date night or if you just need a quiet spot to do a bit of work while you're out and about instead of having to settle for a coffee shop.

You can expect to pay £7 a pint and £9.95 for a 250ml glass of house wine - not cheap, but it's a 4* hotel and you get what you pay for.

Highly recommended.

Klimatyczny hotel w zabytkowym budynku w centrum Edynburga
Pros:

-Restauracja - śniadania a'la carte (dania ciepłe) + bufet z częścią zimną.
-Znakomita lokalizacja , samo centrum Edynburga , do większości miejsć doszliśmy pieszo (do 1,5mili)

Cons:

Really wonderful wedding lunch and can't praise Hotel Du Vin enough!
Pros:

I can't praise Hotel Du Vin and all the staff enough! I booked the Bedlam dining room for a private meal after our morning wedding ceremony at the City Chambers. It was great that they had a space for a small party (there were 6 of us but the room could fit up to 10), being so close to the City Chambers makes it a perfect location!

The level of service from initial enquiry through to the day itself was amazing. Gavin (the Meetings and Events Executive) was wonderful and so lovely over email and made planning the day feel really special and actually made us look forward to the day even more!

I was able to pop in and take a quick look at the room before confirming the booking and was also given a tour of the whole hotel in case we got there early or wanted to stay later in the bar for drinks.

The meal itself was delicious and the service on the day was perfect. We especially loved the system of having the guests make their choices through the online booking system, I can imagine for larger groups this makes things so much easier and it meant things went very smoothly on the day.

Everything about our booking and the lunch was perfect and it made the day feel extra special. Thank you so much!

Perfect
Pros:

We got an upgraded room for a few dollars more. It was a comfortable room, great location right in the heart of Edinburgh. The breakfast was great, and the one dinner we had was good as well. I have no criticisms.

Cons:

The shower was too big, it didn’t warm up.

A superb hotel, very friendly, everything immaculate and stylish. Great location. Will stay again.
Pros:

The hotel is beautifully laid out. I loved the courtroom area. I will certainly return with my wife for a leisure break. 1 night wasn't enough.

Cons:

Nothing to add. Yes, there was a fair bit of noise from the streets, but it was a Friday night and close to the students zone they were obviously enjoying being young.
