Classic country hotel with lovely staff
Pros:

Great location and the staff were lovely, especially the night porter who greeted us warmly when we arrived in the early hours of the morning!

Cons:

Our room (35) could use a refresh. There were a lot of stains, peeling paint, loose taps, and draughty window. Not sure if we just got the worst/old-style room but we were expecting something a bit more modern.

The property was tired. The walls were peeling. The showerhead was full of limescale. There was a broken panel on the bath which I scratched my leg on. The toilet seat was broken
The handrails walking down to the restaurant was dirty and grubby
