Mercure Shanghai Yu Garden

Our group of 15 stayed at Mercure Shanghai Yu Garden for 3D2N, and we had a very pleasant experience overall.
We arrived early in the morning, and the hotel kindly provided temporary rooms for us to rest until the official check-in time, which we truly appreciated after a long journey.
The hotel facilities are very good. Although it is a large property, it is extremely well managed. What impressed us most was the staff — everyone was friendly, supportive, and always willing to help. Even though some staff members do not speak English fluently, they use translation devices, so communication was never an issue. They also assisted us in arranging airport pick-up cars with good vehicles, polite drivers, and reasonable prices.
Breakfast was served buffet-style with a good variety of food and satisfactory quality.
The hotel’s location is very convenient, within walking distance of Yu Garden, The Bund, not far from Nanjing Road, and other attractions, making it easy to explore the city.
Overall, we were very satisfied with our stay and would highly recommend Mercure Shanghai Yu Garden to both group travelers and individual guests.

A great little basic hotel - clean and tidy and close to Yu Garden. The staff were super friendly and helpful - I arrived during a downpour and they did all they could to help me dry off during check-in! Lovely touch having a complimentary soft drink in the fridge and pour-over coffee in the rooms. Breakfast had a nice range of Chinese and western dishes, and the hotel offered a free self-service laundry with laundry liquid, etc. and a few washers, driers and garment steamers. Our transfer on departure was super later/didn't end up arriving (we had arranged through a travel agent at home) and the staff were really helpful on arranging an alternative. Strangely my room windows had had walls built about an inch from the exterior of the window, so I had no natural light, but not a deal-breaker on a relatively budget stay. The room also had a note about noise and provided ear plugs for guests but I didn't have any disruption when I stayed ☺️☺️

Good location, near Yu garden and “so called old town”…but that’s it. First of all..some items disappeared from my room..to be more specific they stole adidas shoes…never happened to me…but this is china…room was ok, breakfast was good/western style too.

Hotel is very clean. Our room was amazing and came with a small in room playground for my daughter to play on that she loved. Breakfast was easy to add on at check in. Thank you for a lovely stay

Leo started asking us if we were aware that the room booked through All-Accor had no windows. We were not aware and he helped us cancel and get a better room - actually a bit cheaper- but no Accor points, and we came back to to Mercure after visiting Hangzhou 3 days later. Mercure is an ordinary 4-star hotel and except the wifi everything was fine - but to use WhatsApp banned in China we used our own roaming and did not use wifi much.
My partner is Chinese and speaks Mandarin, so we had no problems, but we noticed that employees did not speak much English - but tried.
In all a good stay - location is very good.

The Mercure Yu garden is okay but nothing great and think you could definitely find better for the price. Trying to give us a room with no window when this was not stated in the booking was not okay. Everything was clean and comfortable, the location is convenient.

I stayed at Mercure Shanghai for a short business Trip and was pleasantly surprised by how much the hotel offered in terms of comfort, service and location- All at a very reasonable price point.
Check in was quick and professional. Even thought it isn’t luxury hotel their service felt five star. Will be back here for sure!!!

We stayed in the largest room in the hotel. Our six nights in the hotel was comfortable, only issue was there was a couple of days the weather was very cold, but the receptionist gave us their own heater that was meant for themselves. Generally clean and comfy. A 10 min walk to Yu Garden and they have a shuttle bus to some tourist attractions. Staff are friendly and helpful.

Nice and clean hotel with accommodating service

一直都很好，但最後一個晚上，旁邊房間的人一直大叫，大哭。知道是跟酒店沒關係，酒店也換了房間。但酒店人員說，旁邊房間沒有人。有點恐怖。

The hotel is well located close to Yu garden but except that I was a bit disappointed. The lobby is very common and unpersonal, the decoration could be much more better. This is not Chinese style but very basic western style so I won’t recommend.

I stayed on 3th of June 2024, one night. The hotel itself is acceptable for prices room condition and breakfast. But when I checked out, I told the male receptionist to help me to call taxi in my app Alipay. Staff try to not speak English to me. While I wait taxi in DiDi, the male receptionist tell the taxi scammer to force to go to non Didi taxi. I said I waiting Didi then the taxi scammer brought me to with the female receptionist, she did not speak English and she force me to take the scammer Taxi. she took my mobile phone to cancel the Didi incoming taxi. The price for Didi to Airport is 143 RMB but I have to pay to the scammer 281 RMB. I afraid this will happen to foreigner guest therefor please be careful with scammer gang incorporate by front desk staff.

영어를 못해서 불편해요

Clean, cosy and funny with a support robot. Good breakfast. Very practical hotel, next to center in Shanghai. You can go by walk to the Shanghai Old Street and to the river side with the Panorama. No need a taxi for long waiting. Comfortable beds, furniture and chairs.

A truly unpleasant experience in every way. Shame on Mercure / Accor Hotel for allowing this hotel to carry their name.
It is dangerous, fire exits did not look accessible, dirty, just look at the entrance carpet at the main door and it tells you all.
Carpets throughout the hotel absolutely filthy, Im not sure what happens in the corridors of this hotel but the carpet is full of filthy stains and surface dirt.
Absolutely zero english or french spoken by any staff member, we stay 4 nights unfortunately. Unpleasant staff, unsmiling, untrained staff.
Breakfast was extremely underwhelming and let’s not talk about hygiene in the kitchen or the restaurant.
The coffee was good, nothing more to add.

Even booking a taxi sounds hard to them and they invite you to do it yourself …,

Hospitality is an unknown concept in this hotel which is by the way over over priced

Travelers just pass your way or you might as I did experience the worst guest adventure you will ever have

This is the stay at close to Yu Garden which just a distance away, about 500m. The hotel is new and trendy. I even saw a robot go in and out of the lift, wow! It's located at the central of the city, highly recommended.
