Absolutely wonderful warm welcome spoiled by an over officious Spa manager
Pros:

Room was very comfortable and spacious as well as clean
The beer gardens and surroundings were almost perfection
Proximity to town ideal
The welcome we received from reception staff was absolutely perfect and warm including the courtesy call before we arrived.

Cons:

Just one thing. We have stayed at the Wild Pheasant often over the past 15 years. We have always checked in and gone straight to the spa to relax after our journey before going into town. I checked with reception twice that we were still able to do this and was told it was OK.
However when we tried to enter the spa a very over officious lady questioned us as to whether we had booked .We were then offered a time slot that was ideal for us only to be told (seemingly with relish) that as we had booked through Booking.com we would have to pay a fee to use. We declined and when checking the new rules are only visible in small print at the very end of the venue profile.
This spoiled the visit for us as we specifically booked here for the spa and it was not clear that charges and time slots were now in place unless the reader scrolls through the whole profile.

Pros:

It was really nice and a short walk along the river the the town. The food was really good too.

Cons:

The Spa has a £10 per hour fee, not too pricey but I have definitely stayed in places with mush better spa's that were free.

Great Location
Pros:

The hotel is a nice old world-ish hotel. The rooms are comfortable and clean but a little old. Good location just on the outskirts of the town with lots of parking and a beer garden which is nice to sit in on a fine day. Also the food is quite good.

Cons:

It's a little old and could benefit from a refurbish. But that said it is clean and comfortable.

Disappointing and uncomfortable stay
Pros:

Location was useful for shops and local walks to the town centre

Cons:

The bed was very very uncomfortable. Booked a double and initially thought maybe 2 singles had been pushed together. Turns out the mattress had sunk in the middle and was very hard and uncomfortable. Originally booked 2 nights but only stayed for one as neither myself or my husband slept at all the first night.
Very disappointed as came highly recommended by local friends when visiting for a friend's wedding so decided to treat ourselves rather than go for a budget option.
Decided to leave, no other rooms available for a swap. Reception mentioned they'd be in touch to discuss but haven't after nearly a week so no follow-up either.
Sink was also dirty and the room just wasn't at the standard was expecting for the price we paid.

Pros:

Beautiful building in a pretty setting

Cons:

Beds were a bit noisy (springs popping suggested the mattress needs replacing). The mattress was also very soft and I kept feeling like I was rolling out! Didn’t get a good nights sleep.

Pros:

Location and parking well presented reception and bar

Cons:

Room with stained sink after having to swap from dirty broken sink. Uncomfortable small double bed. No fridge in 4 star room, hole where fridge should have been. Bedroom was cold with draft from patio doors. Duvet was torn on one side. Burn mark on the throw looked unkempt... tap was hard to operate. Was 2 star rating quality. . refund not made as promised. Reception decieved us. . Dinner small portions and tasteless not as described on the menu.

Very good. Would stay again, but book direct to get all the births thrown in.
Pros:

Property was great. Clean, great location, great parking, dog friendly, nice breakfast.

Cons:

I booked via Booking.com and detailed I was my dog. When I got to the property it stated that if I had booked direct with them my dog could stay for free, but as I’d booked via Booking.com there was and EXTRA £30 surcharge to pay. Breakfast was extra too, but £12.50 was worth it.
