Grazing bartenders
Pros:

I was at the Detroit Lakes Holiday Inn March 13-15 with a friend. The rooms were good but the bar experience was interesting to say the least. I have never seen this in a bar before. On Friday night, the bartenders would go to the salad bar and get food and stand right behind the bar eating it. One either ordered food or was eating off of a plate brought out to a customer. Kind of tacky to have a mouth full of food and be chewing it as you walk along the bar to go help customers. Plus they didn't wash their hands between stuffing food in their mouths and serving food and drinks to the customers. I don't know the rules on hair but the bartenders had their hair in ponytails but one had the hair draped over her shoulder to the front and the other's hair kept coming out of the ponytail. The waitresses helping tables had theirs pulled back and controlled. I don't know if it's a thing but sure seemed like hair in food waiting to happen. On Saturday evening I decided that I was going to bring this up to a manager. I asked for one and was told there is no manager working and wouldn't be one until Monday. I couldn't believe that there was no one to talk to.

Family holiday weekend
Pros:

Stayed at Hotel for Holiday weekend with family. Guest service manager and Event Coordinators were excellent to help plan the event. Great service and atmosphere at the hotel during our stay. Rooms were clean and comfortable. We will definitely return for another family get together at this hotel.

Pros:

The room was clean.

Cons:

Did not get the lake side room I reserved. Had to ask twice for the breakfast coupons I paid for. The front desk lady was rude and not helpful at all.

It was comfy and had nice views of the lake but could use more staff in the restaurant.
Pros:

I love that it's right on the lake and that the restaurant has windows facing the lake. I liked the comfy bed and pillows.

Cons:

At breakfast, it seemed they were short on staff cause no one greeted us and so we just sat ourselves down. Then we waited a while for the waiter. She never brought us water the first morning. She was nice but seemed busy or not around much. The second morning, I asked for no cheese in my omelet due to an allergy and I got an omelet with cheese but they fixed it when I brought it to her attention.
We had an issue the second day with our key cards as they did not work once we got back to our room on the 4th floor so we had to go all the way back down to the lobby to get it fixed and they didn't give us an explanation for what happened.

Great times at Holiday Inn Detroit Lakes Mn
Pros:

Great family Christmas again this year. We will be going again in June for our summer family gathering. Thanks again to Joe . Joe you are the best, making sure everything goes smoothly. We really appreciate you!!!. Food was great, staff was great. Hotel and rooms are clean. See you all in June! Kate

Very friendly staff in your Housekeeping staff.

Cons:

Dinner meal in dining room. Four of the six adults at our table had one of the Memorial Day Specials at $35 each and after ordering were told they were unable to get the potatoes they ordered. Then when the food was delivered two of the others were told they were unable to get the vegetable they ordered. The twice baked potatoes we did get were well done and crusty on the top. Overall very expensive and very disappointing vacation meal for my family :(

The water umbrella hot tub was warm and life jackets being provided arcade games the breakfast and sunrise veiw while eating

Cons:

Room was a little small for the price didn’t have much room for storage like a dresser for clothes
