Hotel Mar à Vista

Fell in love with the hotel as soon as we walked in - it’s got that traditional charm- swam in pool most days and had it to ourselves- varied breakfast choices- plenty and well stocked - bonus is they served from 8:30 until 10:30 am- all staff extremely friendly- dream of going back on day - a hidden gem and rooms with sea views - all big balconies with stunning views of town - loved all of it! Thank you

Stayed in this lovely little Hotel. From the moment my partner and I arrived we were felt welcome. All the staff were so Nice and always very Helpful. The Room was Basic but perfect. It was spotless . It was lovely and Quite at Night the Beds were Nice and comfortable. Nice crisp white sheets and 2 Good pillows. We arrived late at night and we were feeling Hungry we asked the Guy Behind the Reseption where we could get food latevat Night marcell went out of his way too Assist us. We had no kettle in our Room and we went too the Desk and asked for one and had no problem getting one. The view is Amazing and you can go up too the 5th floor for some Breath taking pics. This Hotel suited us both its about 10/15 mins walk too the old town. . I would Highly recommend this lovely little Hotel. . Thank you too all the lovely staff at the Mar a vista Hotel. It was a pleasure staying .... 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟.

Not airconditioning, tv remote was not working, limited shampoo and soap supply

We initially didn’t get the best room. It had carpet & felt a-bit rundown, but we asked to change the next day to a different room & The staff were very accommodating. They swapped us to an amazing room with most fantastic view!! (5th floor)
The breakfast was great! Location great & everyone was really friendly! They made sure we were well looked after x

Upon arriving we noticed many stains on the carpet. The room was large which was nice but we found a large cockroach in our room. The staff was very kind and helped us catch/kill the cockroach. The breakfast online is advertised as being €2 but is actually €8. There is a pool there which we did not visit. The bathroom was quite small and poorly designed as the door couldn’t open fully without hitting the toilet. A paper sign is above the toilet asking that you do not flush any toilet paper in the toilet which is something we were not used to. The beds were two single beds pushed together with no topper or anything so we slept separately on our respective mattress which was fine. Overall the room was fine but I wouldn’t go back.

Good location with ocean view rooms, hotel has parking and good swimming pool. We will be back next year again. Thanks administration for good service

Had a very nice stay here. Staff was nice,fast check-in and check-out. Relaxed atmosphere, and very close to the town centre. The views are amazing. It's a very good value and budget friendly, especially for other solo traveller fellas like me. 😊🇵🇹

Was good for my budget. Great staff, I didn't need much, but the welcome was nice 🙂 amazing views by the way.

PROS:
Rooms were very clean and comfortable. We had a fantastic sea view from our balcony and the staff were very helpful & friendly. We were able to leave our luggage in a safe area by reception as we had arrived before check-in & had a few hours after check-out before our taxi to the airport. The hotel is only 15/20 mins walk from main strip of Old Town Albufeira but there are a few good cafes & bars just a few minutes walk away. Namely Café Leo for breakfast/lunch & Bluebells bar for a few drinks on the little outdoor terrace.
CONS:
The rooms need refurbishment. The towel rail & toilet roll holder in the bathroom were broken & there was a lot of paint spatters all over the balcony. Also, despite room information saying there was a clothes rail on the balcony to dry clothes, there was no place to hang our wet towels & swimsuits so had to hang them on the back of chairs. Even though the hotel is only a short distance away from the Old Town it is up quite steep streets. Not at all suitable for people with mobility issues, but all of Albufeira is like this.

Great hotel ideal for old town slightly hilly but easy to walk to old town or marina.. cheap taxis back to hotel.. hotel is clean with lovely views of the sea.. rooms are basic but clean..

Despite we have always spend the Easter in Algarve, this was our first time in Albufeira and we wanted an hotel with parking for the car with a reasonable walking distance to the center. This one was the perfect match. By the time we booked (9th April for the 16th) it was one of the few ones available. I confess I was attracted by the view but a bit concerned by the reviews and the fact it was a 2 stars hotel. Even so, we moved forward with the booking. When I checked the price on the day we arrived the price was almost half of the price we have paid and in that case I would have considered a good quality-price relation.
Staff is very nice and warm. They gave us the room 501 (one of the top ones with the best view to the sea and old town) and were always very kind and helpful. However, there are several points I would like to stress:
- The hotel is very outdated and needs a refurbish
- The carpet needs to be replaced (it seems that is not cleaned for several years)
- The breakfast is very poor (and even says that is forbidden to refill the cup of juice or coffee. I would like to congratulate the staff member that was working at that time because it was necessary at least two people to do the job (clean tables, put tables and cutlery for the new guest arriving, restock the items, etc.)
- The room was very close to the breakfast area which means that from 8am it was impossible to sleep due to the noise (rooms are not soundproof).
The room was cleaned every day, beds done and towels replaced. There is a fridge in the room, a tv that does not work (ours did not have any signal but I was not there to watch TV and an A/C that did heat.
If I had to come back I would only do it for the great view and nice staff.
I do not know the other hotels form Barata group but it seems that this is the forgotten one.

it's an old building, but they keep it clean. It's way up on a hill above town, so getting to restaurants is easy, getting back to the hotel on foot to slot of work

Die Lage der Unterkunft ist sehr gut. Das Personal aufmerksam und freundlich. Besonders hervorzuheben ist hier die Dame am Empfang. Ich verreise sehr oft und hatte selten eine so sympathische, freundliche, kompetente und hilfsbereite Dame an der Rezeption. Riesenlob dafür.
Das Hotel selbst ist an einen Berghang gebaut, hat einen Außenpool und einen netten Ausblick. Ich hatte zusätzlich eine sehr schöne, große Terrasse mit Tisch und Sesseln. Das Zimmer ist sehr geräumig und mit Kühlschrank ausgestattet. Das Bett war gemütlich. Alles ist schon ein bisschen in die Jahre gekommen - mich hat's nicht gestört, aber man merkt es natürlich. So gab's nur eine freie Steckdose und der Kühlschrank war manchmal etwas lauter. Das Frühstücksbuffet hat keine großartige Auswahl, für mich aber ausreichend. Auch hier wieder auffallend das aufmerksame, freundliche Personal. Ich habe mich jederzeit willkommen und gut betreut gefühlt. Alles in allem hat für mich das Preis-/Leistungsverhältnis gut gepasst und ich war zufrieden.

Hotel muito bem localizado, perto de tudo, atendimento dos funcionários excelente. Cama confortável, um bom café da manhã. O único senão a respeito da estadia é em relação ao número de tomadas no quarto apenas duas tomadas uma para a Tv e outra para o frigobar que tenha uma conexão (T) onde conseguia utilizar para carregar os equipamentos eletrônicos. O prédio é antigo mais o local é muito bonito, da sala do café tem uma visão muito bonita da praia e da cidade de Albufeira.

We didn’t notice that the hotel rooms didn’t have AC so thankfully the nights were cool enough to keep the room temp okay.

Great stay in Albufeira at this Hotel. Of course can only comment on our room which was very good, linen, towels and cleaning excellent.
If you are looking at value for money I would recommend this hotel. Didn’t try breakfast as nice early morning walk down to town with nice cafes. Some reviews we read before going worried us but our experience was nothing like, and would go back again for sure .
Thanks to front desk lady and Miguel who both were very helpful and attentive.
