Hyatt Place Gilbert

The moment we stepped into the room, it smelled like sulfur and wet towel. The smell was leaking from the bathroom to the bedroom. We asked for a new room but they were fully booked. So we asked for maintenance but they couldn’t come until the next day. The next day they did not show up. It was absolutely disgusting!

Do not book this hotel the pool was closed the 4 days we were there. The carpet was so dirty it made my socks black. No one cleaned our room until the last day. The sheets and towels were stained and old. We paid $200 per night and it was not up to Hyatt standards. There are two other hotels that share a parking lot Homes to go and Hampton Inn choose one of those.

Run away. Avoid! There are two other hotels next door and more nearby.

We booked a 2 twin and used the app to check in at 9am with an approximate check in time at 1pm. At 1pm our room wasn’t available and told we needed to wait for our room, but a 1 queen room is available. We were offered to leave our luggage and they would call or text when the room was available. At 2:50pm still no call, so when I called them the receptionist said it was still not available. I said isn’t the room guaranteed at 3pm. At that point I was transferred to the manager who said our room would be available when we arrive back. We got back there at 3:30pm and the manager said the only room available was the queen room. If they overbooked the two twin rooms they should have told us and we would have took the queen at 1pm. However, I think they just forgot about us since there isn’t really a waiting queue system. If we had waited in the lobby we probably would’ve gotten the room we booked. So don’t expect to get the room you booked when you check in.

Also, that night after dinner we witnessed a family of 4 being denied a room because they didn’t check in at 3pm. The father apologized for not using the app to check in earlier and due to delays they were traveling the whole time. He showed his confirmation number, but the receptionist said all rooms were already booked up and there were no rooms left. The hotel had gave their room to someone else after 3pm when they didn’t show up.

I stayed here recently for my son's volleyball tournament. Overall the hotel was ok. The free breakfast opened early 6:30 AM, which is earlier than most hotels and came in handy as we had to leave at 7AM each day. However, the breakfast buffet itself did not have as much fruit or options as I've seen at other Hyatt Place hotels. In addition, two biggest gripes were the shower water not being very hot. The other gripe was I had a second reservation which I cancelled a few weeks prior. I have the cancellation e-mail, but the hotel still had it on file. The front desk was not able to cancel it when I arrived after explaining the situation. The second reservation no longer showed up in my Hyatt App either after I cancelled a few weeks prior. I only realized because I got 2 e-mails for check in. The desk person was not able to cancel. Called Discoverist, twice and they said it was cancelled already. OK.... Lo and behold I have a second charge for the room which I previously cancelled before the cancellation deadline. Not very happy.

Room seemed old but was clean . Bed uncomfortable. Two maintenance items reported took two days to fix.

The room itself was a pleasant surprise, being much larger than expected. Well furnished except for two things- no hand soap and no towel racks or hangers in the shower area.
Staff very pleasant and efficient.
Breakfast buffet was unappetizing.
Still would recommend this hotel.

This is a hotel that I can always trust to meet my needs and expectations. I have stayed at other places that have offered cheaper rates, but there is always something that I have to sacrifice with that. For example, cleanliness of the room, staff friendliness or customer service that is below my standards. Hyatt place in Gilbert never disappoints. I will continue to trust them with all of my needs every time I’m in town. they are predictable and consistent with everything that is important to me.

Great location, amazing atmosphere, room was spectacular, staff was awesome and service was fabulous! I would definitely recommend.

The room smelled musty or moldy. There were stains on the couch and carpet. Water leaked from the sink on to the carpet when in use. Air conditioning was very loud but over all it worked for the time we needed the room.

I was very disappointed with my stay at Hyatt Place Gilbert. No crib was available for my baby—the main reason I booked Hyatt. First room had coffee stains on the wall; second had stained carpet, torn couch, and peeling siding. The app claimed “recently renovated rooms,” yet staff said no renovations had started. This felt more like a Motel 6 than a Hyatt. Very misleading and not up to Hyatt standards.

The carpets needed to be replaced or removed from elevators. The room was noisy. Refrigerator was loud and so was air-conditioner.

Breakfast is the worst I’ve ever experienced at any modern hotel/motel, ever. No oatmeal, eggs cold, Canadian bacon cold. Very limited food choices. Coffee was hot and excellent. When I checked in on Sunday night, television didn’t work; front desk attendant was very prudent and helpful and put me into a different room
