Hyatt Place Gilbert

This condition of this hotel was unacceptable. This room was gross. There is mold around the shower chalk, there were loose shower tiles and something was growing under them. The whole bathroom smelled like poop. I booked with my points, which I have a LOT of. They gave me the worst possible room, and when I asked to switch I got the corporate answer, sorry rooms are preassigned, there's nothing we can do. The reason I have 500,000 points is because I have spent a LOT of money staying at Hyatt properties and generally I like Hyatt House particularly for business travel. Going to have to rethink where I stay, it certainly won't be this hotel, ever again. YUCK.

Staff performed very well and met my needs. Clean room, work out area, and dining area. Would definitely stay here again.

One of the best hotel managers and staff in any hotel. The AGM Sonia, Sales manager Cheryl and front desk staff are excellent. And a special shout out to Patrick, who manages the breakfasts four days a week. What a wonderful person.

Great stay at the Gilbert Hyatt, my home away from home! Everyone from check in to check out are always very friendly and accommodating. Safe location, great breakfast, comfy beds and free parking!

This is an average Hyatt Place compared to others we've stayed at. My teen and I booked a room with two beds, but upon arrival, they had moved us to a room with one bed and a sofa bed. We asked to move to a two-bed room and were denied because they said "we're full." The property itself is clean and looks fine in the main areas, but our room on the top floor (6th) had a lot that needed updating. The couch was dirty and worn, the blinds wouldn't open more than a crack, the circulation wouldn't stay on, and the shower walls wouldn't actually keep the water in the shower area (soggy bathroom floor). It was quiet overnight, but do keep in mind it sits directly beside the 202 freeway (didn't bother me). Breakfast was utter chaos, with too many people crowding around all areas with food and food being cold when it was supposed to be hot (and vice versa). Would I stay here again? Possibly, but I'd see what else is available at that time.

Nice, clean hotel. Rooms have couch and plenty of room. The door in the bathroom is a tight squeeze, but it’s the only downside. Complimentary breakfast is as expected. Attendants were on top of cleaning up after guests finished. Good bang for your buck hotel.

The room was clean and comfortable. Excellent free breakfast. The staff was friendly. There was ample parking available.

Overall, this hotel may have been "renovated" recently, but the rooms look tired and there appears to be no oversite of the maintenance of the rooms. My original room had A/C issues (fan motor bearing was failing) and I was placed into an what I think was their overflow room or room where people are placed when their original room has problems. It was a weird experience - I had to rearrange the L-shaped couch, plug in the wall lamps - one of which whose outlet was not tied to a switch - I had to unplug it every night. I tried to plug it into another switchable outlet but there was none. The desk was smeared with paint and the legs needed to be tightened. Overall, the hotel entrance appears ok, but whoever did the recent renovation was not supervised.

The moment we stepped into the room, it smelled like sulfur and wet towel. The smell was leaking from the bathroom to the bedroom. We asked for a new room but they were fully booked. So we asked for maintenance but they couldn’t come until the next day. The next day they did not show up. It was absolutely disgusting!

Do not book this hotel the pool was closed the 4 days we were there. The carpet was so dirty it made my socks black. No one cleaned our room until the last day. The sheets and towels were stained and old. We paid $200 per night and it was not up to Hyatt standards. There are two other hotels that share a parking lot Homes to go and Hampton Inn choose one of those.

Amazing view. Beautiful view of the Gilbert Temple. The sunrise was spectacular and a hot air ballon went by as the sun came up.

Run away. Avoid! There are two other hotels next door and more nearby.

We booked a 2 twin and used the app to check in at 9am with an approximate check in time at 1pm. At 1pm our room wasn’t available and told we needed to wait for our room, but a 1 queen room is available. We were offered to leave our luggage and they would call or text when the room was available. At 2:50pm still no call, so when I called them the receptionist said it was still not available. I said isn’t the room guaranteed at 3pm. At that point I was transferred to the manager who said our room would be available when we arrive back. We got back there at 3:30pm and the manager said the only room available was the queen room. If they overbooked the two twin rooms they should have told us and we would have took the queen at 1pm. However, I think they just forgot about us since there isn’t really a waiting queue system. If we had waited in the lobby we probably would’ve gotten the room we booked. So don’t expect to get the room you booked when you check in.

Also, that night after dinner we witnessed a family of 4 being denied a room because they didn’t check in at 3pm. The father apologized for not using the app to check in earlier and due to delays they were traveling the whole time. He showed his confirmation number, but the receptionist said all rooms were already booked up and there were no rooms left. The hotel had gave their room to someone else after 3pm when they didn’t show up.

I stayed here recently for my son's volleyball tournament. Overall the hotel was ok. The free breakfast opened early 6:30 AM, which is earlier than most hotels and came in handy as we had to leave at 7AM each day. However, the breakfast buffet itself did not have as much fruit or options as I've seen at other Hyatt Place hotels. In addition, two biggest gripes were the shower water not being very hot. The other gripe was I had a second reservation which I cancelled a few weeks prior. I have the cancellation e-mail, but the hotel still had it on file. The front desk was not able to cancel it when I arrived after explaining the situation. The second reservation no longer showed up in my Hyatt App either after I cancelled a few weeks prior. I only realized because I got 2 e-mails for check in. The desk person was not able to cancel. Called Discoverist, twice and they said it was cancelled already. OK.... Lo and behold I have a second charge for the room which I previously cancelled before the cancellation deadline. Not very happy.

Room seemed old but was clean . Bed uncomfortable. Two maintenance items reported took two days to fix.

The room itself was a pleasant surprise, being much larger than expected. Well furnished except for two things- no hand soap and no towel racks or hangers in the shower area.
Staff very pleasant and efficient.
Breakfast buffet was unappetizing.
Still would recommend this hotel.

This is a hotel that I can always trust to meet my needs and expectations. I have stayed at other places that have offered cheaper rates, but there is always something that I have to sacrifice with that. For example, cleanliness of the room, staff friendliness or customer service that is below my standards. Hyatt place in Gilbert never disappoints. I will continue to trust them with all of my needs every time I’m in town. they are predictable and consistent with everything that is important to me.

Great location, amazing atmosphere, room was spectacular, staff was awesome and service was fabulous! I would definitely recommend.
