Valamar Lacroma Hotel

We have a very enjoyable evening dinner at the Valamar Hotel, Dubrovnik . Great view, food and service. Top marks to our server, Katarina.

We ate dinner at the Momenti restaurant. Katrina, our waitress, was just wonderful. She was exceptionally helpful and kind. Her service was beyond great. The table she reserved for us was just lovely with a breathtaking view. It was our first night in Dubrovnik but will be memorable forever! The food and buffet were also very good.

Hotel lokalizacyjnie super. Blisko plaża, basen kryty i otwarty. Blisko przystanek do komunikacji miejskiej. Ja brałem V Level, która przerosła moja oczekiwania. Super strefa dla V Level Guest, bardzo miłe traktowanie a największym atutem była restauracja Momenti. Przepyszne śniadania i cudowne kolacje. Szczególne podziękowania dla obsługi z restauracji, czyli dla Katariny, Dragany oraz Tommislava. Bardzo polecam hotel!

We had really mixed thoughts on this hotel so I've tried to break it down into categories below

Rooms
We were disappointed our room didn't have a balcony, however it did have doors that opened with a glass panel for safety which was an okay workaround (although it wasn't clear on Jet2 we were booking a room without a balcony so would recommend double checking when booking). The rooms were a generous size with a very large comfortable bed
The rooms were clean, but could do with a revamp and there was areas needing attention (e.g. sealant around our toilet needed replacing and the grout in the bathroom could do with a good clean). I'd prefer a tiled floor rather than carpet as I think it's cleaner and more practical for a hotel room.
We reported an issue with our fridge (which was warm, rather than cold) on our second day and this wasn't fixed during our stay. Seems odd considering we knew another couple staying who had the exact same issue. This forced us out of the hotel for lunches, where we probably would have gone to the supermarket and put items in our fridge. Really disappointing
Towel sizes also varied, randomly and it's worth noting that the pillows are feather which could be an issue for those with allergies

Restaurant
I must say, the food was excellent in this hotel, with a range of dietary requirements and allergens being labeled. If you can't find something to eat here, I'd find it hard to believe. There was always a variety of fish, meat, and vegetarian options, with a large salad bar, cheese stand and dessert/fruit options. Everything was fresh and well cooked, and there was a fresh herb stand if you wanted to add more seasoning/flavouring to your meal
I would say the labelling of the desserts, however, was really poor - just a generic label "Variety of Cakes". As some cakes had nuts on them, I feel these should be labelled individually (and this would be massively helpful to those of us with other allergens such as dairy and gluten)
Like others, I really didn't appreciate paying €5.40 for water in the evenings when it's free at breakfast. We took reusable water bottles with us and filled them up in the gym most nights before dinner
I'd also recommend eating in the restaurant (at breakfast and dinner) earlier rather than later as it did get chaotic further into service, with sometimes too few waiting staff to clear plates
We ate at the pool bar a couple of times but found the choices quite limited for dietary requirements and it was quite expensive for the quality

Surrounding Area
I had seen some reviews saying the hotel wasn't near anything, however, we took a path from the pool area down to some small shops, cafes and restaurants. Within our group, we ate in 3 of the local eateries and really enjoyed them. My personal favourite was the focaccia place. There's also a few shops that are well stocked with ice creams, snacks, and a selection of drinks
We went to Copababana beach one day, unaware of how much it was going to cost once we got there. The charge was €45 per person (in the off season) which we refused to pay and put our towels down on the beach just along from it. Bring water shoes if you're going, as the beach is rocky, not sandy. Some of the local shops also sell these if needed

Facilities
We had a couples massage whilst we were staying and it was lovely, with tea served to us afterwards. The spa prices were in line with what we've paid in other hotels
My only complaint is there's no relaxation room for after your massage. You go back out into the reception, which also serves as a walkway to the pools
My husband used the gym on a few occasions and said it was well equipped but was a tad too warm for working out
The outdoor pool was cool but pleasant for cooling off, and there was always plenty of sunbeds

Overall
I would say, this hotel is trying to cater to two different markets - conferences and holiday makers and there's times it misses the mark, however all members of staff we spoke to during our stay were lovely.

Byłem z rodziną w czerwcu na weekend (3 noclegi). Super hotel, czysty i wygodny. Bardzo fajne, czyste baseny (zewnętrzny i wewnętrzny), wszystko ładnie zagospodarowane, dużo zieleni. Do plaży przy sąsiednim hotelu President trzeba iść około 5-10 minut, ale byliśmy tam tylko raz, bo na miejscu jest wystarczająco dużo atrakcji. Jest sala zabaw dla dzieci, jest także wieczorem coś dla dorosłych - np. muzyka na żywo. Śniadania bardzo dobre i duży wybór jedzenia. Jednego dnia dokupiliśmy kolację (w postaci bufetu za 35 Euro za osobę - dziecko bezpłatnie), rewelacyjne jedzenie. Obsługa bardzo miła i pomocna. Dojazd do centrum bezproblemowy autobusem nr 6, przystanek zaraz obok hotelu, przejazd trwa około 20 minut. Kilka minut pieszo od hotelu jest niewielki pasaż handlowy, ze sklepami z pamiątkami, spożywczymi, barami. Polecam ten hotel, przewyższył moje oczekiwania i na pewno wybrałbym go ponownie.

Nice hotel and the breakfast is all one could wish for and a little more! We dined at Momenti restaurant, which was top noch service, food and sunset view.

Valamar Lacroma was amazing from start to finish , we had a v level room with included extra benifits such as Al-acarte breakfast with a buffet for cold option and pastries and bubbly, staff were attentive and friendly, you also have separate sunbathing areas with plush loungers and healthy snacks and water throughout the day and cold towels are bought round, they also have a bubbly hour from 5-6pm for v level guests and you receive transfer to and from the airport these need to be pre booked via email to the hotel, the rooms are amazing you can choose your own scent with smells like a spa and you have a nespresso coffee machine and rituals products in the bathroom, all staff we interacted with were friendly and professional and the service was quick, me and my husband had a little break without our two little boys but would definatly return with them ! A truly wonderful hotel. Really recommend paying extra for the V Level as the Momenti restaurant is excellent. Lovely food and super chilled. My husband is very nonchalant about food but was blown away by the Friday night menu and looked forward to meal times. Service at any time of day is perfect in the V level restaurant. Azer, Dragana and Tomislav were particularly brilliant - special thanks for making our stay even better. Breakfast was also a wonderfully chilled yet delicious affair and beautifully quiet with great service. Rooms are super comfortable and any housekeeping requirements are very quickly attended to via the hotel app - so useful! Love how you can keep track of your bill on the app too. Grounds are lovely and the V level area by the pool is great. Such a nice change to not have to get up early to try and secure a sunbed! This made a real difference. Same at the beach club, which was great and entirely stress free. We also visited the buffet restaurant, was which very tasty and had something for everyone. The pizza was excellent as was the cabbage strudel! Pool is massive, clean and a great relief from the hot sun. The local area itself is stunning; the views are amazing, water is clear and sunsets are spectacular. Bus to old town is well priced and regular. Will definitely return. 🙌🏻❤️ Only suggestion for improvement is that the music around the pool be quieter in the V level area, even if just in the Balance garden space; be nice to read my book in peace.
